My problem is that I don't think like a skinny person. There may be a day when I do, but its not now. Left on its own, my brain still thinks it wants to eat the unhealthy things and it wants to eat them in massive quantities. If you are a person who can voluntarily moderate, you can make choices and have your choices work…

The reason I was told to wait for 3 mos out is because some of the nuts you can't really chew down to nothing and they don't want small pieces to get stuck in your stomach and possibly cause an ulceration or something. I have a box of kind bars that have been sitting waiting for me to eat them-- but I have 3 weeks left…

Wishing a quick & easy surgery and recovery.

I would never make it if I had to drink plain water. I use Crystal Lite a lot. If you don't like sweet, maybe you could try some warm broth? I think that would still count as liquid, just maybe a few more calories. Do you like milk--maybe a couple glasses a day of skim to help change things up. Good Luck!!

I found it ironic that in light of the negative articles that have been in the press lately about how unhealthy the Biggest Loser weight loss process is, Dr H had the nerve to slam weight loss surgery on the finale last night. Those who live in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones.

Glad you are both dong well. Keep it up, more good results are coming.

I'm glad you are doing better now. This is a great place to get information and advice. I had my sleeve on 11/19 so I'm little more than 2 mos in. Each day gets better. Please feel free to friend me if you would like.

Wow, I know the dr told me that alcohol would affect me differently and more quickly after surgery (and after waiting 1 year) but I had no idea it would be like this. You have really illustrated the message the dr was trying to get across. Now I get it. Thanks for sharing something so personal to you. It really is more…

I am glad you posted this because I find myself thinking about it, but in my own head I sound so absurd that I push it away. As a heavy lady, I have the personality of the funny, happy lady. But, I also find myself being irritated at work because I think I am invisible to the upper management because of my weight. So, I…

Holy Cow!! I bet there are people who wouldn't even recognize you if they hadn't seen you in awhile. You have done amazing!

My dr said no alcohol until 1 year out. :( If I could have alcohol, I would for sure include it since it would have a lot of calories.
-
Look at you!!! That is great progress.
-
Seaghdha-- do not attempt to shovel any snow  Hope you are feeling better each day.
-
Great progress! Going to soft foods is a big plus.

Cream of Wheat; greek yogurt. I found that although it didn't appear appetizing, I pureed canned Beef Hash and it was really good. Or I was really hungry to something other than sweet. I also used spices to add flavor to the broth so it wasn't like eating the same broth over and over. Sometimes I used indian-themed…

Previously, another lady posted that she got hair inserts/extensions for the period she was losing hair. If your hair gets to the point where you aren't comfortable for your wedding, you might want to consider that.

Great idea, and I wish I had thought of it. Best wishes for an easy surgery and uncomplicated recovery. Can't wait to see more pictures!

I started "full liquid" stage on day 3 and that included yogurt with no chunks of fruit in it, and sugar free pudding. As jm1fullerton did, I added unflavored protein to them. I had Isopure vanilla protein powder that I added flavor to, such as pumpkin puree & pumpkin pie spice. Syntrax nectar makes pretty good flavored…

To help my protein level out a little, I use egg beater to make a scrambled egg and I put a little bit of grated cheese in it. It's not a lot of protein, but every little bit helps.

I was fortunate that I didn't have a pre-op diet. Where I went their philosophy was to have you eat regular food until the day before surgery. They think that helps with the weight loss afterwards. The 12 hrs before surgery was no food/liquid. Your life will change, and for the better is my guess. Mine certainly has. At…

That looks terrific. I think I'll have to give that a try.

I was down 30 lbs at 2 mos. I have about 67 lbs to my goal.
-
I am only 9 weeks out, but I can tell that I can drink a little more normal sips now than right after surgery. As the others have said, I can't gulp, which makes it a little harder to get fluids in when I'm working out.
-
Good for you for making a goal and setting a plan. I had the sleeve procedure on 11/19, after 6 mos of working w/the nutritionist. The time prior to surgery is a good time to change bad habits and get ready for the changes you need after surgery. My biggest goal was to stop drinking pop (soda) and start to exercise. I wish…

I didn't have to do a pre-op diet per se, but after surgery I reached a point where my weight loss stalled. I got the same advice from members here...more protein. It worked. I increased my protein intake and w/in a few days the weight was dropping again.

I have heard, but not tried myself, the shampoo Nioxin will help with hair loss.
-
Wow, I never heard of this scan but I'm going to look online and see if I can find a provider in my area. I think it is well worth knowing this information.
-
That is exciting! Good for you.

Hi! I had my VSG on 11/19. I don't regret it at all. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was the constipation. I wish I had a stool softener purchased and ready when I needed it. I also found that for the first couple of weeks or so, I felt better when I slept inclined instead of flat. Thankfully I have an electric…
