  • You deserve a pain free life that doesn't limit you. Change just one small thing and see if you feel better. Experience that for awhile and then change one more thing and enjoy that too. Open yourself up to what you can do!
  • to whatsherface: You want this so you'll do it; you have a lot of reasons to take control and make it different, the least of which is you are a Mom and have so many life experiences to share with your child as long as you are physically able to. I want that for you! Be well!
  • To Rottified: The reality of hearing your doctor tell you some uncomfortable truths that inside you already know is humbling in my experience. I have a great doctor who is able to be honest with me while not demeaning or judgmental for being overweight. I hope yours is just as supportive. I know that losing weight helped…
  • to dbeaut: well that must have been an eye-opening experience. I hope that you are now enjoying seeing the success of getting healthy every time you walk past.
  • And chilly1470, thank you. I think that I started the post because I needed to remind myself of my own aha moment as it happened a while ago and connect with the support of other MFP users who also had that moment. I often wonder about how people decide to pursue surgical procedures. I imagine many do so for medical…
  • First, to forgivensins, so sorry I didn't see your response before today. I thank you for sharing. It seems as if you are very aware of how your weight is limiting your life and you aren't okay with it anymore. Yep, sounds like an EpiphaMe. I hope that you can soon enjoy those walks with your dog and feel comfortable…
  • hi there! well I have not been very successful at getting to Curves in the morning. I just seem to forget why I set the alarm earlier and by the time I remember, it's too late. Tonight, I put a post-it on the alarm and on the bathroom light switch so I will not have to rely on my very sleepy brain in the morning. We'll see…
  • While I am sure that was a painful moment, I am glad it happened now, when your child is 4 so you have the chance to change things. Good luck! Be sure to include physical activities and healthy foods with him.
  • The reason why could be the way our brains react to food as an addiction; there is a lot of interesting research into the brain and food addiction. The Hunger Fix, a book by Dr. Pam Peeke, is what helped me get on track and lose 113 lbs.; she based her approach on the research and it totally makes sense, including how a…
  • Didn't make it to Curves at all this week; my cold is lingering, my students are wearing me out and I'm working late every night. This is not okay and I need to adjust things so I am not setting aside my workouts for more stress. Not to mention the junk food that my coworkers are constantly surrounding me with. So far I…
  • Welcome and so glad you have chosen to live. When food no longer works to numb your feelings, you have to do something different.
  • Planning ahead really helps me be more successful. Way to go! Stressful day at work so took an hour long walk with my dog and ended the day with 13,624 steps. Meditation, hot bath and early to bed for me.
  • Trying to get to Curves in the morning this week 3 times and walk daily. Meditation twice a day is helping me manage my stress so not craving food as much. Fruits and veggies prepped for snacks for the next 3 days and menu planned for the week; now I just have to follow it. Have a healthy week everyone!
  • So glad your Dad is going to be okay. This is your chance! You have a great resource at your fingertips with MFP and us! You can make healthy changes.
  • Not silly at all; I have had that moment when I found I couldn't do something because of my weight that most people take for granted. I hope you take that roller coaster soon!
  • Rough day at work ...cookies and donuts in the break room, missed lunch, a student made me a special cupcake, and then worked late. Meditating now and then yoga and a walk. Tomorrow's plan is healthy and I am sticking to it! Hope everyone's weekend is healthy with minimal stress.
  • Love 30DS; I did it today too! Holding off on going to Curves as I have a cold and don't want to pass it on. So I am working out at home and getting a 30 min walk in daily. Tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, apples, almonds and nectarines for snacks with water or tea. Meditation twice a day has led to a few naps with my cold…
  • I'm sorry to read about your Papa passing. My goals this week: Curves 4 times; 10,000 steps a day; meditation twice a day; replace candy nibbling with healthy snacks at work. Have a successful healthy week everyone!
  • Congrats! Swimming is a great way to exercise!
  • Getting to the gym is a huge step! You should be so proud. I loved going to the gym when I lived near one. And I quickly realized no one there cared what I looked like or that at first I didn't really know what I was doing; people are a lot less judgmental there than in the real world.
  • Been there, done that. Stress eating is so hard to change. Hope today's a good one for you!
  • Thanks for starting the accountability thread. This time of year is insanely busy for me with the new school year. Biggest surprise has been the fact that I have doubled the number of steps I get in during my work day with a new classroom on the opposite side of the building. I have gotten in over 8000 both yesterday and…
  • The simplest things can be that aha moment, can't they? Looks like you have made great progress, as has everyone else that's replied. Have a great day tomorrow!
  • It's scary to not have the weight to hide behind or push the world away. Being obese has been a defense mechanism for me for so long, I get very anxious thinking about having to cope differently. What if crappy things keep happening even though I lose the weight? What's to blame then? Or who? When I get stuck thinking like…

  • So glad I'm not the only one who just sees "me" and not the physical changes. The difference in measurements helps me accept it far more than what I see in the mirror. But in photos, the progression went face/neck, breasts, calves and knees, then mid section (stomach, butt, hips etc) and arms.
  • Super cold! I fill 3 twenty-four ounce water bottles every night so they are ready for the next day and just add some ice or put in the freezer for awhile. It's the first and last thing I do every day, drink 6 to 8 ounces. Good articles by the way!
  • Love everyone's small goals! This is one of the best things about MFP for me, sharing the similar struggles and challenges. And really grasping the importance of every achievement, big or little. I'm setting my alarm on my kindle to go off when it's time to meditate, journal and log on here to help me stay on track. You…
  • Very doable....Carbs are my kryptonite; I have to pack a healthy lunch and snacks the night before or the temptation can be too much. Only a little successful so far with mine as I just haven't adjusted to school time yet.
  • It will happen! But time frames suck cause if you miss, double the pressure; not only do you still weigh what you don't want to but you failed to accomplish something important to you. So back on track for all of us!
