  • Awesomeness! Even something as small as 10 minutes or 10 ounces counts in the plus column. Yay us!
  • Welcome back!
  • Of course it does! What's the challenge for this week? Start a new thread for us!
  • I drank 10 oz more than yesterday; with busier schedule, I haven't been drinking as much as I typically do.
  • BL 12 huh. Do you have goals you're working towards? Share how this helps you be accountable. You can do this!
  • I say take the photos now, even if you just print them and put them away in a box in the back of a closet. I know by looking at photos from 20 years ago, I didn't look the way I thought I did and I am so glad to have those photos I hid in a drawer for all those years. If you still don't like them in 20 years, get rid of…
  • All this positive motivation is so inspiring! I was stressed out after a long first day of training for the new school year and ready to find some food to help me cope and then I logged on MFP and read everyone's posts. I decided to try a workout and meditation instead. Thanks!
  • Thanks for sharing your EpiphaME; I hope it helps motivate you like mine does me. You are so right, you have to take care of you first.
  • How's everyone doing getting in at least 30 minutes a day? I'm getting 30 to 60 a day.
  • Thanks, it was fun! More so because I planned ahead and made healthy choices I could feel good about. I try to be very intentional about my food and exercise which helps keep me accountable to me. Enjoy your weekend!
  • 60 minute walk in the morning before heading off to the county fair (2 blocks away and it is an awesome fair). Packed water, fresh veggies to snack on so no junk food and had supper waiting in the crock pot when we got back.
  • Check the topic list; a weekly challenge was started. I'll start a thread 8/15/14 to get us interacting more using the ideas posted. And ANY day is a good day to start for me, especially with the start of the school year next week and all of the stressful changes as I readjust.
  • Me too! So who is starting the weekly thread on August 15?
  • @unknown_sister: is there a way we can help you get back on track? @everyone: I was part of a really encouraging group this spring. They had a theme for each day: each day, members posted on that days theme; they included a health related article, a healthy recipe, water intake that day, stats check-in, week's successes,…
  • I have a personal challenge for August to participate in a group exercise at least once a week. I tend to isolate a lot which is not healthy nor supportive of my long term goals. Last week, I played miniature golf with some new friends (I totally suck at golf lol); this week, I plan to go hiking at a state park with a…
  • @shuttles (great name by the way!) The date was good in the sense that I stepped out of my comfort zone and I handled his rejection due to my weight. Ready for the next one!
  • Awesome! One milestone conquered!
  • This week, I am challenging myself to do 30 day shred or the Jillian Michaels workout at Curves everyday. Made out my menu for the week as well. What's everyone else doing to make the last 10 days of July healthy ones?
  • I take a picture every month on the same day. When I put them together, wow it is so encouraging to see the changes. I print the picture, buy an encouraging or congratulations card and write it out to myself, put the pictures in and open the card the next month.
  • This is going to be a great week. I am going on a date for the first time in over 13 1/2 years. Yikes! I'm also working on getting ready for a 4.5 mile walk/run in August so doing 3 to 6 mile walks every day. @skittles: I cried the day I weighed in under 300. Now, I'm working to get back under 250, and yeah, I'll probably…
  • 3 mile hike with friends....fun even with the mosquitoes! I t feels so good to be able to workout with intensity after over 5 months of restrictions. (8lbs lost in last two weeks). Bought a new outfit to work my way into fitting.
  • Amcook4: your body needed the recovery day after that hike! How awesome that you did it cause those healthy risks are not easy for us. I workout at Curves and walk but adding the 30DShred has already started toning up those jiggly areas...my pants are looser! It's still an intense workout but experiencing body changes…
  • Started 30DShred yesterday...wow that's a workout! Teaching summer school 3 days this week so hoping to get up and exercise before I go to work and a walk with the dog every evening.
  • That's your fat crying is my favorite quote this week! LOL! Well, I have hit the six month mark for allowing my leg to heal (small fracture then developed shin splints--ouch) and have slowly been working up to working out 30 to 60 minutes a day very low impact just to keep the habit going and averaging over 10,000 steps a…
  • Goggle www.meetups.com to see if there are walking groups in your area. It's a free site that groups register on and you can join whatever group fits your interests.
  • Try this nonconfrontational statement, "not right now, perhaps I'll have it later"; if they push, I just put it aside for later and get rid of it. What does it matter if I throw it away or if I ate it and later flushed it away. They got their need to give to me met and I got my need to make my own choices without either of…
  • 65.5 miles--with the rain and minor flooding here in southern MN for 4 days, working extra shifts, and cleaning basement due to minor but daily rainwater seepage (really need to get new gutters and a sump pump), didn't get as many miles in as I planned. But the sun is shining so off I go to get in some hiking armed with…
  • I like the Summer Slam challenge; they used to do similar challenges at the Curves I workout at. I lost more consistently when I was accountable to a group-met my need to help others while also helping myself I guess. Thanks for posting !
  • I first had to decide whether I was just interested or committed to losing weight. What was my lightbulb moment? I had a complete meltdown at work and decided I needed to see a doctor and find out what the status of my physical health was and to deal with the emotional issues I was struggling with. I had high cholesterol,…
  • Hi, for me, the cravings aren't really for the chocolate but for the dopamine rush in the brain that numbs my feelings I don't want to feel or deal with. When I cope with my emotional issues, the cravings disappear. I have lists of non-food activities that help boost my dopamine in healthy doses and I am actively working…
