What a great small step, kaihunter45. Last year my classroom moved from one side of the building to the other and I doubled my work steps. I could print closer to my room but I keep it set for the farthest one just to keep those steps high. Violet, how nice to not only know you can make that 5k but that you will have the…

That's awesome, Violet! That is the true reason you are doing this, so you are healthy!

Since tomorrow starts back to school workshop week, I spent a warm end of summer day at the MN Landscape Arboretum with family; a 90 minute hike, walking through the various gardens, getting lost in the maze (and it's not even a complicated one) for a total of 12,000 steps. Good way to end summer!

LOVE #3! I struggle with maintaining my generally positive attitude this time of year as the school year starts. My stress levels go from "okay I can deal with this" to "I'm one second from implosion" overnight. I put #3 on post its at home and at work to remind me to cope with the extra stress instead of letting it build…

Violet, I would never be able to work in such an environment. I imagine it is quite the temptation. Goals: 1). Walk daily 2) log daily 3) curves 3 times 4). Stay positive as the school year starts with trainings

EMDR is quite effective; I have had students who underwent treatment that were able to manage their mental health so much better. Good for you!
-
I struggle with that too. You start out 100% committed in the morning then the day's events just wear away at your resolve doesn't it?

Two days of rain = grumpy. I stayed under calories but they weren't the healthiest. Tomorrow is a new day, right?

This week, my goals are to: 1) get to Curves 3 times 2) walk daily 3) log daily Yeah, they are pretty simple but that's what I need to do. Mini-goal: I have completed an updated weightloss goal sheet since the last one was over two years ago. This leaves me with the first goal of losing 17 lbs. I have figured out 3…

I'm doing great this week on achieving my goals. Yeah me! I have also finished redoing the spare room, started cleaning my carpets, scrubbed down the basement walls, and today I am doing some work in the yard. This probably helping me get to bed early every night just from being so tired from all the work! And I lost 2…

@HLaR79 Not sure if you are looking for suggestions but I like Leslie sansone's walk away the pounds videos. When my sister's kids are here they will do part of it with me and we have fun doing it. For me that is what works--easy to do, low cost, effective, at home so it fits my schedule, and can be done by myself or with…

@HLaR79: Hope your mom and daughter are okay. As far as your goal #1, are you looking for something you like, that is more intense, or easier to fit into your life?

I've been doing a lot of fun stuff these last few weeks of summer such as day trips to historical sites, hiking, movie, etc with my sister and her kids. I have been so busy it's been easy to forget to log so that's one of my goals. It's also time to have a consistent sleep schedule. The last goal is to increase physical…

This week I am focusing on: 1. 10,000 steps a day 2. Journaling daily 3. Continuing to eat whole grains, fruits & veggies and protein--no candy, baked goods, or coffee. I have been getting ready to return to school in less than 3 weeks and I have noticed it is easy for me to overlook journaling which is both motivating and…

I bought one that has a second safety clip so if it slips off, no awkward moment. I found it at Walgreens for about $25. It can also be placed in my pocket and does an accurate step count.

Having a good week so far. I have kept the kitchen clean, curves is on my schedule, and yesterday I bought the paint for the shed and the spare room. Today I scheduled some appointments, cleaned the kitchen, and am off to curves...all before noon. Now I am free to enjoy a beautiful summer day! Lemon anything is a favorite…

Thanks violet for starting this week! Goals this week: 1. Curves 3 times 2. Keep kitchen clean and organized (I learned that this is a trigger for unhealthy habits last week) 3. Complete one thing on my to do before fall list every day.
-
@violet...tomorrow is a new day. With the move, not mention the craft service temptation, you are bound to have a tough day once in awhile. Concentrate on what went right today and build on that.
-
Well I don't know about all of you but summer seems to be full of distractions. I get so busy I "forget" to log in here, or I miss my gym time or .... But the intention is there so I do what I can. I discovered an interesting trigger this week. I tend to eat unhealthy food when my kitchen is messy--dishes not done, things…

Welcome! congrats on the great start to a healthier you!

Well one bad day isn't so bad. This is a stressful time for your family which makes it all the harder to not fall into the quick fix stress relievers that surround you which creates, yep more stress. It does sound like maybe you increase your calories right now, create a timeline for all the steps to be completed and…

Pictures say so much don't they? When I looked at yours, I saw a smile on your face in the first one that I recognize, you know that "I'm fine, happy, okay, etc." fake one. The last picture shows a face that is truly fine, happy, okay, etc. Congratulations! The moment we can accept who we are, unflattering pictures and…

No goal this week as I am sick due to an ulcer. I am slowly getting better but my eating and exercise is far from typical. So I guess I'll just be the cheerleader this week. D R I N K your water!

I've been doing great this week meeting my goals. I am a bit worried about how to maintain that over the holiday weekend with the temptations I will be surrounded by. I even practiced my refusal skills; "I'll have some later" works with everyone but my dad. He remembers and brings me some later; I know he is trying to show…

My goals for this week are: (1) 35 minutes exercise a day (2) meditation twice a day (3) stick with the Detox menus (to deal with food addiction and get the dopamine my brain is craving from healthy food and reduce the production of stress hormones that unhealthy eating habits cause) The fresh fruits and vegetables looked…

Yes, those days that you would swear you have intestinal worms because you couldn't possibly eat as much as you did and not... May tomorrow be better!

Completed just 1 of my 3 goals; so now I have to figure out why I didn't do the others and change that. I've been enjoying gardening everyday in addition to my 30 minute workout. So far, I'm winning the battle against the weeds and the couch!

This week's goals are (1) 30 minutes of exercise daily (2) gym Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (3) replace my Jawbone Up My summer recipe for easy lunch/supper is a chicken salad (tuna or egg can be used instead of chicken) 1/2 cup fat free plain Greek yogurt 1 teaspoon mayonnaise 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard 1/4 cup chopped…
