  • 22lbs to lose, and yeah, I find it pretty hard. The hardest thing is to put yourself in a good mental state to start - since you don't have that much extra, and it's not so bad, it's much easier to just be lazy.
  • Great accomplishment! Congratulations! Have you had any plateaus down the road? Periods of regaining weight before losing again? Maybe you can share a bit of advice on how to stick with your goal through the prolonged period of time and keep going? That would be very helpful for us (serial) beginners.
  • Born in the 80s, I don't remember them well, but I do remember the early 90s (South-East Europe)...I don't know what were statistics at the time, but I have a feeling that child obesity was much less common. We had a single overweight girl in my elementary school class. At the present, numbers go as high as 35% of kids…
  • Thank you for the feedback...although, I strongly disagree. Killing for food is in the very basic nature of the world we are born into. It is present in the numerous number of species and part of nature's balance. Even if you are a vegan, many living creatures are killed in order for you to be able to eat a piece of…
  • I grew up on a small family farm. When my parents had ducks, even though they haven't lived for a long time (few months), the time they were alive, they had the best life possible - they lived outside, on a big meadow with a small pool they've run to every morning. When the time came, I did felt bad for them, but it was…
  • Don't take this as an ego issue, but I am really puzzled with all the "Disagree's" in my entry point. I've tried to open an ethical debate about food consumption in the most open way I possibly could, trying to avoid separation on nutritional clans and just encourage thinking about what we can do within our diets (whether…
  • @AnnPT77 I love when people are not oversimplifying things and instead think in-depth...but at the same time, I feel like there is a risk of ending in a foggy relativism where everything is the same. It's not. I don't think we know and can fix all the word's problems. But, we can do certain things. Small changes like this…
  • Fair question...I would say no - just because it's natural or just because it's the way we've always done it doesn't prove anything, but that it's able to survive the test of time. But, I think it's fair also to question and reason things we do for the first time...I think that you'd agree that only because something is…
  • This is one of the reasons why I have wanted this thread not to become another vegan vs not vegan debate, but to start a discussion and investigate what we all can do to make things, not perfect, but a bit better. Many people have disagreed with my opening post, which I find surprising since it's really not about doing…
  • Yes, I grew up in the countryside, on a small, family farm. We had sheep, pigs, chickens, geese, etc. so I do know something about it, although not everything for every kind of animal. What I do know, however, is that last 20 years (in my country, probably more in the more developed countries) there has been a huge trend…
  • I am not sure if this is the case...at least not in my part of the world...there are so many abandoned lands that nobody cares for and pasture that is being trimmed with trimming machines. It's almost impossible to see a cow, a pig or a sheep outside in the countryside. If all those land would be utilized, I would probably…
  • Morning all, this week is gonna be crazy, but I'm gonna take it day by day. One step at a time :) Last few days food wise there were some really good days and there were some less good days (friend's birthday). What I am grateful about is that my good days are getting more and more good and my bad days are pretty moderate…
  • @MLHC1 I liked your post when you said you're gonna build yourself up. I think it's a great attitude. Don't be harsh on yourself when you fail at something, just try to do something you can. One summer I decided to get into yoga, so I chose three poses and did only those three poses every morning. After a while, I included…
  • Today started both good and bad. First I weighted and got surprised that I actually lost 2kg. That means that I've achieved one of the mini goals that I wasn't expecting to achieve at least for another 2,3 weeks. It's one more evidence that body really works in mysterious ways. I had more low-calorie weeks that got me…
  • Yesterday was a good day food wise, I already feel better. Today my goal is to repeat yesterday's success: - drinking a lot of water and only water (besides tea and coffee) - avoiding junk snacks for the rest of the day - eating light dinner
  • @AJB1014 Congratulations! I wish you much love and joy at your marriage journey! I'll share a piece of advice I got from my grandma in low - argue if you must, but never go to bed angry :) I.e. don't let one bad day turn into a bad week or month. I liked that advice, although I failed at it many times, but still trying,…
  • Argh...I wrote responses to many of you, then accidentally closed the tab. Now I don't have the time to rewrite it, so I'll just send you all a big hug. I hope you're all doing good, taking care of yourself, loving yourself and making the best of the day. Last week I was eating low-calorie for most of the week (because of…
  • Last few days I feel kind of sick, but very mildly, so I can't really say if I have caught something or it's just a reaction to this week's increased stress. I feel light nausea all the time, have no desire to eat, but I am forcing myself to eat since I always get back those pounds lost by sickness (and usually gain some…
  • @MLHC1 Can I ask you what do you fear? When you say that he tries to control you with the fear, what kind of fear? Is it like fear for physical safety, fear of drama, fear of divorce...? Please say, if I ask too much...we tend to see our experiences in others and project what we are going through, so I try to avoid it by…
  • @Snowflake1968 Woooohooo! Congrats! On the other side of the globe, I'll take a drink to celebrate! @MLHC1 Sorry to hear that...If I don't ask too much, what bothers you the most in your relationship with your husband? What would you like him to change? @littleblackskirt "it means I see and feel the worries daily" - as…
  • @littleblackskirt I won't go too deep into this, because I'll get too emotional, but I just wanted to tell you that I know how you feel. I am a late child, my parents were close to their fifties when I was born, so they are now in their 70s and 80s. I still can't really process their aging. The hard part is also that they…
  • If I red this when I had just discovered this thread, I would just say - congrats, without many emotions. But after witnessing all your struggles and positivity through it, I feel so happy for you!! I hope they also know how lucky they are to have you! @bookmeister86 Tortoise fable is so applicable to weight loss! A lady,…
  • I'll do the same as yesterday, and just list my done goals retroactively: - ate light lunch and dinner - junk food free day - low diary day - made progress on the new technology (K.) - being in a positive mindset about my life in general - danced on a few songs - (relatively) dressed up - handled phonecalls - updated…
  • I've seen threads like this so many times on various communities - someone feels sh**y about something, shares it, and after all responses, feels even worse, usually ashamed and alienated. Although I don't doubt everyone's good intentions. IMO, you don't have to have all the right reasons to lose weight, especially at the…
  • @bookmeister86 You are very close to your goal weight, it always takes a bit more time for those last pounds. Also, discomfort is not as strong as on bigger weights, so it's harder to stay motivated. But 3.75 lb in 5 weeks is a healthy and reachable goal, I am positively sure you can do it! We'll be cheering up for you :)…
  • I haven't posted goals today because I still feel a bit out of sync with myself because of the lack of sleep last few days. But I'll write few successes instead: - ate light lunch and dinner - junk food free day - low dairy day - made progress on testing - being in positive mindset about my life in general - danced on few…
  • @Snowflake1968 It's so awesome from you that you always take time to comment and respond and just make us all feel noticed! :) Also, I think your kids are so lucky to have you, you are doing so much for the wedding! "On the marriage point, does your husband expect you to be the traditional wife?" Just to give you a bit of…
  • I think you should just ignore it or take it as a part of the challenge. We're almost never getting support from our partners in the form we'd like to. TBH, we struggle most of the time to support ourselves the way we need it. Just focus on what you do, not on what he says. I think my husband is the smartest guy I know.…
  • Thank you for giving us the opportunity to know you better! I do agree, there is still a lot of stigma about BP. Posts like this are very helpful to understand what you are dealing with. And actually, everything you wrote feels very relatable, like being 2 different people. Maybe it's more pronounced with BP, but I think…
  • Yesterday I was a mess, so I haven't thanked you for such nice compliments you gave me! Thank you for being so wonderful! @cschmitz110515 @PackerFanInGB You made my day when I pictured you sitting up straight after reading my post, that was extra cute :D I am trying to work on my posture, I was surprised to learn that good…
