  • Just wanted to inject some humor, my side anyway. Past 5 or so months I've gone from 205lbs to 178 currently, with 18 to go. Noticed the trend of buying new clothes...I get crazy pay  , disability. I asked for a clothing allowance for new, they laughed :) ...obviously last sentence just a joke. But kudos for ya'll…
  • Just started working out again 5/23...gave up all my fave comfort foods...especially pints of Ben & Jerrys Pistachio Ice Cream....Am I correct in understanding that I can still eat a pint or two weekly? As much as I really really want to, I just look at those fat calories..680...ouch. Calories 280 x 4 = 1120 cal Fat cals…
  • I'm with Matchka9, from cycling sites to just general calculators, they are all pretty close to what stationary bike shows, but don't take it as exact.
  • ;) I hope that's a wink, lost when it comes to emoticons. Just wanted to say I wish I was "normal" to have friends :)
  • All good replies and explanations, thanks. Accurate or not, I do the 220 less 57(age), max heart rate 163. Being I love to cycle, I try to get in 2hrs daily with HR at least at 75-80% (114 to 130bpm), I'm cheap, so I use what bike says, the do finger test :). From Naomi8888: "Also, as you get fitter, is it harder to reach…
  • What are your goals? ================ To drop 20 more lbs to 160, comfortable weight, and get back to 16% body fat. Was there a bit over 3rs ago. Mainly concentrate on core and legs for cycling, most important to me. Work heavy on legs 4 days/wk out of 7, or 3 out of 5 days. Do cardio, bike 2hrs day, and maybe 30 min on…
  • I'm not in great shape, just a casual rider, but I do avg 18-20 mph depending. Resting HR is 80bpm. I always maintain 70% of max heart rate (114bpm), with bursts up to 90% (146). I'm usually in the 125-130 bpm. It's not always easy, but my goal is a vigorous pace. Why waste time barely cranking pedals and only going say…
  • I do agree with all you said. As to the above, maybe 3 yrs makes a difference (54 to 57), but I basically felt good doing same when I originally dropped from 200 to 160. I have this brain block going on, that if I say eat 2500 cal/day, and cut back on mainly cycling, which I love, then where would my deficit come from? Not…
  • yes, 326 min that day. I can agree i could eat more, I just eat till full.
  • Really don't think You'll get a 100% correct number. I only use stationary bike at gym, between what bike shows and numerous cycling calculators, the numbers I get are fairly close. I went to mapmyride, and it gave me 200 or so higher calories. I just take em' all as approximations. Here is an example I used on mapmyride.…
  • Nikita...love the series.

  • Beans before gym workout. Front row treadmill...accidental toot, ...people on other machines directly behind me. Embarrassment told me no more beans.
  • Live for Music, so My audio system. Just don't get why neighbors don't like 100+ decibels. :)
  • Nice. You have me rofl. Excellent. :)
  • I was told by a woman that I was a "selfish b*st*rd". I kindly said thank you for the compliment. Life is too short to worry about such trivia, well for me anyway. A standard reply from me is "I accept all compliments, good, bad, or otherwise." Just how I was raised.
  • slow workers mostly, and other who spend more time talking than working....
  • I'm 57 and just returned recently. As you stated above, You left out us older folk :) , but as others have said, not all are "fit and muscly". Just do Your thing. Everyone has their own pace etc. Get setup with a routine, and charge forward :) . I too was way overweight 4 or so yrs ago. Hit 200, next day gym membership,…
  • Wow is right, more like omg wow :) . i've cut back some, on average I drink 5 12oz cups, using 2.5 tbsp. Gotta have it sweet (grins) Never did a calculation on sugar intake, but what I've figured/converted...tbsp (2.5 cup) = 12.5 tbsp x 30 days = 450 tbsp, which worked out to 12.4 lbs. That seems extremely…
  • I really need to learn the emoticons...it was meant as you said. Reckon' I need to keep my wacky sense of humor away..(grin) I've never taken such numbers to be accurate. I will say, the calories burned number on recumbent bike sure does look good...600+, 1hr...I'm just being funny with that comment. If I did, I would…
  • Congrats....as you say "small potatoes:, can turn to "big potatoes". Keep up the good work. I am glad to see You do shower though :)
  • Southern Maine...live in the backwoods in a tent...have to hunt for food. Just joking.
  • I too used to get self conscious using the mirrors being overweight by 40 lbs., being a small framed guy...cries, joking. Then I'd look at others, and know we all started somewhere, so now I just pay no attention. Many will even give a helpful answer if in between sets, if asked, at least I've found that to be true. Like…
  • When I originally got back to normal weight, 160lbs from 200lbs, I never really weighed myself much. I just read labels on foods and went from there. Portion size and enough to maintain. Unfortunately I let myself go again, so starting over.
  • Yep, determination is my key. I've also heard some refer to this being rude, but I use the Motto: Just Do It. Some days I say or feel no Gym today, but will force myself to go, put on headphones, and time just seems to fly by. It's like once I walk thru gym doors, my attitude/drive just climbs.
  • i can agree with that Kimmy. I just concentrate on weight loss goal, no matter what any site may say. I was just curious about my former weight loss 3 yrs back...200lbs :( to 160, a comfortable weight5.71 took me 7 months, avg. per month loss...5.71lbs or 1.42lbs week. Again, just numbers. Was all about making my goal,…
  • I feel You should continue to do as you see fit. I usually weigh myself weekly. Nothing wrong with checking, but daily, well I can see no or a minute change. Just keep on and make Your goal :)
  • No problem here...I took no offense,,,have a wonderful day :)
  • My source of info...Just type this into Google..."avg weight loss per week"....look at the first 4 that come up, CDC and Mayo Clinic and 2 others. As with "all" numbers, weight loss weekly or calories burned on bike or treadmill, I really don't pay them no mind. As for an emoji, i goofed on that one, thx for pointing that…
  • I did not know most of music, the 3 instructors were great I thought. I only cancelled spin class being they no longer included 1hr class with $47 membership.
