Under the medical symptoms category, probably TMI, but improved bowel movements, and NO MORE HEARTBURN!!! (I was NOT expecting a complete reversal of the heartburn!)

Best of luck to you Sherryshields at your upcoming doc appt!

Oops, haha, missed that your q was for brenn!

I am still in progress, and use MFP to mainly track macros, and keep an eye on the calories, but they are not the focus. Just an interesting additional tidbit of extra info. For me, I am finding that my carb happy place is 10-25 net. I still struggle getting the protein in, however.

If you're ok having a friend doing keto, friend me! I'm currently 235, started at 270. Having failed at multiple other diet methods, I'm trying to take this slower, so if a goal of 199 in August is acceptable, add me! My diary is open.

Good point. I'm guilty of just relying on the active posts going vs. looking at actual numbers.
-
Not sure how helpful this is, as I do weigh more, but my macros set by MFP are: 1830 kcal Carbs:23 Protein: 114 Fat: 142 While I almost always meet my carb numbers (I LOVE AVOCADO'S!!), I very rarely reach the protein and fat ones. I find that most days, the closest to maxing out kcal's is 1500

My metabolism really started to drop off right around 25, unfortunately. I think it's just a "thing". :( And, now as a 40 year old, it's all downhill from there. Like previously mentioned, try building muscle. If you don't have time for the gym, look on youtube for pilates videos. Try very vigorous/intense exercises that…

It would be interesting to do a study here on MFP. Daily food and exercise is easily available. Not sure if the keto eaters would make a large enough pool, though.

I agree with everyone. Just putting it out there so for those that haven't heard can know what's going on again. I raise my own egg-laying chickens. I sure am not going to cut back on my egg consumption unless I'm sold out! ;)

Thyroid meds less effective, hmmm, that may be my issue. I always thought it went the other way. (BTW, that's exciting to hear that a doctor recommended keto!) I have been upping my sodium and water intake, and trying hard to up the protein to rule those out. (Why is adding protein so hard! lol I love meat, but good grief,…

It depends on your goals for your way of eating. Keto is *usually* 5% carbs. 20% protein. 75% fat. Low carb is usually any combo with fewer than 50% of carbs, which is what the standard American diet is. Honestly, I think focusing on grams of each macro is easier than percentages. It's so hard to balance percentages in my…

We'll know it's gone mainstream when there are more promoters than detractors on the MFP main!

Low carb is just one method of creating a calorie deficit. For SOME people, it helps them feel full longer, and reduces hunger. Less hunger usually means greater compliance. For SOME people who have an addiction problem with certain carbs (sugar filled and/or salty snack), having to eliminate them can train those people…

Pro It's the only way I feel full and eat at a deficit Only way to manage my GI candida. Constant energy level all day (no sugar crash!) No more heartburn My eczema is getting better At my annual exam labs, triglycerides went from 180 to 78, cholesterol from 228 to 175, HDL from 45 to 56, LDL from 129 to 103, and BP from…

I agree with swezeytba, try upping your calories for a couple days. Failing that, try fasting! I find if bumping up calories, almost to "cheating" levels doesn't work, then a 2 day fast is my next go to. (or if 2 days sounds just too long, try 1 and see what happens, just don't "binge" after your fast!!). I also try to fit…

Thanks guys! My diary is open (I think), so you are all free to check it. I don't necessarily log every day, usually my meals don't vary much from what's in there. I will try upping the salt tomorrow. I have been heavily salting my food, but that may not be enough. It very well could be a b12 deficiency. I see one of the…

Could this be "keto flu" related, even this far into it??

Thanks!!

You can always log a food and delete it later. However, if you visit the community boards every day, that has counted for me lately!

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but look into gut candida overgrowth. Its solution is to completely cut all sugar for at least 2 weeks, including sweet fruits, and adding in a candida killing supplement, such as caprylic acid (which is found in coconut oil), as well as a probiotic which contains saccharomyces…

Very motivational! Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, I never thought that story passed the smell test......

I've been trying really hard to stop "cheating" or rewarding with food. But alas, they still happen. A glass of wine from time to time is my biggest one. Particularly when with family.......

There is more to this article, including loads of links, so here is the link: https://www.everydayhealth.com/ketogenic-diet/diet/best-worst-fats-eat-on-keto-diet/ Personal note, Nuts & nut butters are a kind of trap for me. I tend to overeat those, so I portion the nuts out to only a couple times a week, and just try to…

She's my least favorite aunt. I found that consuming more salt and drinking a lot of water in combo with a good workout really helps. Sometimes takes a couple days of that, though. I swear she throws off the electrolytes.

Ahhh, so I see I overlooked this thread in the Open Threads area.... https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/37207800#Comment_37207800

Everyone is different, but I found that a consistent caloric intake under roughly 1500-1600 a day made me an evil......witch. I also am moderately to highly active. So I try to stay in the 1500-1800/day at a minimum, and go a bit more on really active days. Yes, my weight loss is slower, but if it is something that I can…

Can you mix up or try new veggies? Cucumber, zucchini, mushrooms (technically not a veg, but "acts" like one), etc. Or try new ways of cooking things, like omelets (or in my house, I do scramlets, cause I have never mastered flipping the stupid omelet!!). Or try adding sauces, or messing around with avocado recipes. I hear…

To improve the flavor of burgers, add some high quality garlic powder and sea salt/ground pepper.
