  • I can cross my legs when sitting. A nice Columbia fleece jacket I ordered online now fits. It was so small beforei couldn't even get my arms into it. Oh, and it's good to be back. :)
  • That's one of the benefits. Look into Jason Fung. While he is a strong advocate for IF and EF, keto is ideal to use with fasting to reverse all manner of metabolic syndrome, especially T2D. However, BG isn't always so straightforward there's the dawn phenomenon, glucogenisis, etc factors to consider.
  • MikePTY, I agree wholeheartedly. Sugar in and of itself is not bad IF you do not have high insulin resistance. But if you do, it is very bad. Consistent high levels of insulin, which is the body's response to sugar, exacerbates the problem. Coming from a long line of diabetics, I finally convinced the doc to run a test for…
  • For those of us who have an insulin resistance problem, even in the absence of diabetes CURRENTLY, we DO have to watch our sugar, fructose, and artificial sweeteners. I try to keep mine under 12-15 g a day for ALL sweeteners and sugars that occur naturally. I am very excited to know that there are people out there that do…
  • Hi! I strongly recommend joining both the"Low Carber Daily Forum" and "keto" groups. They have loads of informational stickies, and are a helpful, positive, encouraging group of people ready to help you on your journey.
  • When I started to work my way into fasting, the very thought of even skipping a snack was terrifying. But I did it slowly. Some days I could, other days I didn't. After I mastered that, then I started doing without breakfast. That changeover went faster. Then I started skipping breakfast and lunch. Now I can do 5 day water…
  • HI Mjkozki, Hope your fast is going well so far! I just took a look at your diary. From my opinion, I think you should make it a bit more well formulated. Check out this page for help (actually, the DietDoctor site is fantastic all around!) https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto I would drop all the fat bombs, unless you…
  • No dry fasting. Sounds too dangerous. With water, coffee, and salt, fasting is hard enough. I can't imagine adding severe dehydration to the mix! Just keep going with it. A little regain is normal as even with adequate water and salt dehydration happens. Fasting is the key for me, I sure hope it works for you as well!…
  • Would you consider fasting? It has helped me jump over those plateaus like they were only speed bumps. Reading the Obesity Code changed my whole perspective on weight loss.
  • That HDL...... wow! Well done!
  • Stupid phone. Should be OMAD and ADF
  • Yes. I mix it up a lot though. Sometimes Omar, sometimes add (alternate day fast), and some extended fasting as well. Today I am day 3 of a 4.5 day fast. It really helps stalls and breaking bad habits.
  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaouRuqqEfY - approx 34 minutes. Dr. Nadia Pateguana discusses her experiences with pregnancy, PCOS, and keto/fasting.
  • Well done! I have brought a spinach salad with homemade oil and vinegar to cookouts. Also deviled eggs are a great side dish.
  • Unless I'm fasting, I eat 2-4 a day on average. As a side note, we have a hobby farm and raise free range chickens on pasture, so they are as good as eggs get!
  • See if you can skew the family menu to your favor. Sauteed chicken and veggies over rice or pasta. You just ear the sauteed stuff. Etc
  • Just tossing this out there...... Could you be pregnant? The lady down the road is 51, and just found out she is expecting. :o
  • Firstly, if either of you are at all kidney compromised, then low carb is not a good idea. If you are on any meds for diabetes or blood pressure you will need close monitoring by your doctor. I strongly recommend joining the Low Carber Daily Forum https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum. They…
  • I just crossed my legs!! I haven't been able to do that for years! The kicker was I did it mindlessly and didn't even realize it until I looked up!

  • Welcome! DEFINITELY join both the Keto ( https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1143-keto) and Daily Low Carber Daily Forum ( https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum). They both have excellent references and articles, and are fantastic support groups.
  • Because of a strong family history of diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart attacks, I've completely cut ALL sugar and fructose, with the exception of the very small amount that is in Lindt 95% dark chocolate. (Seriously, how many women can give up chocolate!?!?!?! I only eat 1/4 serving per day now. )…
  • Welcome! I am not yet a long -timer since i started about 7 months ago, but so far i have been eating foods in waves. Deviled eggs, pickles, various olives, pecans, spinach, and all sorts of meats. Add in some avocado, broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, or green beans and I can make an almost endless variety of meals. The…
  • 140 sounds like it was a body set weight for you. Look into the ways you can change that. I am just getting over one myself. Stick with it, you ca n do this!
  • I figure my body will supply any of the fat I'm missing, haha. Seriously though, I try to focus on eating healthy fats (avocados/oil, olives/oil, and pecans) and don't stress about what I am and am not reaching. Trying to micromanage every macro and micro nutrient is too much of a PIA for me. I'm to busy for that. I vary…
  • When looking for fish oils, look for ones that are DHA/EPA, not just general fish oil. That is the easiest to use form for your body. Here is my list of daily supplements: Gut health (I have issues): L-Glutamine - Dr. recommended Probiotic (Garden Of Life Primal Defense Ultra) Prebiotic (Epicor) Others: Multivitamin 1500mg…
  • In a stall myself right now, but expect them at this point. The body always needs time to adjust and allow you to reset your weight "set point". Keep at it, maybe add some fasting, and don't get discouraged. It's a normal part of losing weight for ANY WOE. :)
  • My go-to in a kitten hurry lunch is hardboiled eggs, string cheese, and beef sticks. This is a great list. Thanks!
  • You just lick straight salt grains.....
  • Sidetracking my own thread - What are the various methods of measuring body fat? Calipers are an old school way IIRC, but I see people sometimes talking about a "Dexscan" (sp?). Where do you go to get one of those, and how much do they cost? Are there other ways?
  • Thank you all. For the moment, that is one less thing for me to worry about. I'll just keep on keeping on.
