I can go up and down by 5 or 6 pounds from one day to the next. It's just random fluctuation, mostly water weight. Don't let it worry you.

Sure, curry in no way needs to be a high calorie dish. South Indian curries tend to be very low calorie, so you could look up some of those online. But if you're not worried about authenticity, here's what I do: Fry a chopped onion and a chopped carrot in a little oil until the onion is soft. Stir in a crushed garlic…

Yep. It's just a question of eating a little less than you need to to stay the same weight - if you do that consistently, you will lose weight. Slow and steady is the key - trying to lose too fast causes health problems, cravings, binging and relapses. Some people find things like Palaeo and low carb helpful because they…

What do you do when you eat all the chips? Do you log it? Or do you only log when you feel you're eating well? Logging everything, absolutely everything, whether I'm eating well or badly, sticking to my goals or blowing them up, even the most extreme binges, is what makes the difference for me. Eating a whole family sized…

I eat them all. But I'm conservative in my estimates. I'm using myfitnesspal default calorie goals, so if I don't eat back exercise calories, I'm undereating, and undereating is bad for you. A lot of people worry about exercise calories being an overestimate, but I find I lose weight as expected if I eat them all. BUT I'm…

"Adjust based on results" is the key.

I actually wouldn't recommend trying to "repair the damage" in a case like this. It's a lot of calories and, for me anyway, that quickly turns into a cycle of despair that leads to quitting. With a big calorie excess like this, I would recommend just drawing a line under it and carrying on.

Also you can fit little bits of exercise here and there. Sometimes the idea of 'a workout' can seem daunting, but I walk a mile each way to work and a mile and a half in my lunch break. Some of my colleagues go running or cycling at lunchtime. It doesn't always have to be about carving out a solid hour every day.

I know. My helmet has a slight peak at the front, but it doesn't really do anything. I end up taking my glasses off if I cycle in the rain, which is annoying in its own way. I need that 'impervius' charm from Harry Potter. Or a tiny pair of windscreen wipers.

That's very unlikely. OP is talking about going from a poorly functioning bowel to a properly functioning bowel. A properly functioning bowel gets all the energy available out of the food you eat. What you're talking about is malabsorption, which is a bad thing - a separate medical problem. Not a benefit! More likely, OP…

Yes, of course. As @kommodevaran says, the two things have no real connection to each other. They're going on at the same time without affecting each other. If you eat less food than you need to stay the same weight, you will lose fat at a fairly steady rate. But at the same time, water weight will be coming and going for…

Congratulations! What a great start! What you have there is a starting whoosh, which is a great feeling. Honestly it's not likely to come back on next week. But do expect the weight loss to slow down from that first boost. Keep up the good work and you'll be well on the way to your goal.

No. Edit to add: but keep drinking it if you like it. And some of the vitamins are probably doing some kind of good (though I'm fairly suspicious of supplements, the evidence isn't as good as people think for many of them).

These things are sent to try us

But there are massive health risks to being underweight as well, and yet that has been the norm and pressure in women's fashion and fashion advertising for decades. ETA I have never understood why women's clothes can't just be sized in inches like mens'.
-
In fairness, I'm not defending vanity sizing. That's absurd (I've actually never encountered it myself). But complaining because larger clothing sizes are available at all is absurd too. It does seem like saying fat people shouldn't have clothes. And like I said, I've never even seen a 'plus sized' model that was actually…

That is a very fair point.

Of course, you can always put basil in the ratatouille. https://youtu.be/RV8i3oLmPfk

A moment of silence, please, for @Goober1142 's boobs and butt. They were much loved, and will be sadly missed. :(

Do tell. Is ice cream involved? :p

Thin people are shamed, fat people are also shamed. It's a problem at both ends of the scale and trying to increase the level of shame (as you sound like you want to do) will help nobody. For me and many others, body acceptance and self love have been a crucial part of being able to lose weight in a healthy way. Shame is a…

I think you just need to experiment more with which foods to eat to keep your blood sugar up. Crisps/chips would not work at all for me, they would run out on me in half an hour or less. I find oatcakes a very good option - other people maybe a protein bar, a smoothie, some fruit or veg. You need to find which foods work…

Not everyone agrees with that.

I do think he has a point, though the dogmatic tone makes me mistrust it. Personally I do eat all my exercise calories, but I'm conservative about how many minutes I put in. If you credit yourself generously with every minute you were on that treadmill and make no allowance for slacking, log yourself as cycling at 12mph…
-
And don't forget to log drinks as well - alcoholic and soft. Many people consume a lot of calories through drinks.
-
Yes, just start by logging everything you eat on myfitnesspal, weighing the food wherever possible, to start getting an idea of: - when you tend to overeat - what foods you overeat on - what a normal portion size looks like I would just do this for a while before trying to actually lose weight. It will give you a feel for…

It's all about listening to your body, as well as watching the calories.

Or even enjoy it. It's the best spice, they do say.

I like little clip-top food boxes, which I fill up with crackers, grapes, sliced cucumber, cubed cheese, nuts, raisins, whatever you like. I started this when mini-me was a toddler, but I kept the habit. They're just as good for nibbly adults as for kids and you can just make up a whole lot of little boxes and throw them…

I don't ride a stationary bike, but I ride a bike and a trike, and I find that stamina increases really quickly if you're consistent. You'll be amazed how quickly. Just start with what you can do now and keep increasing it.
