  • I've done two rounds of it - the first time, I didn't change my diet at all, I just ate normally. I saw some small changes. The second time, I followed mfp's calorie goals and I saw huge results. I'm 5'3". First time, started at ~130 pounds and dropped maybe 2-5 pounds but built muscle. Second time, started at ~128 pounds…
  • When I first got to mfp, I set mine to time periods instead of meals for the most part - 8AM-12PM 12PM-5PM 5PM-9PM snacks dessert
  • I always donate clothes if I find that they no longer fit me, but my heaviest weight was only about 20 pounds heavier than my UGW (which is also the lightest I ever was in my adult life) and if I remember correctly, everything fit me just fine at both ends of the spectrum. EDIT: after reading all the responses about using…
  • 1) age: 23 2) 129 lbs 3) physical location. Philadelphia 4) activity level: aside from my workouts, I work a desk job so it's basically sedentary. 5) How often do you exercise? 60 mins, 5 days per week 6) Do you eat breakfast? yes, usually oatmeal 6) what is your largest meal of the day? usually dinner. 7) how many times a…
  • From my understanding, Fiber usually either cures constipation or causes diarrhea when eaten excessively, so I highly doubt added fiber is causing your constipation. My guess is the Quest bars as well, as from your original post that seems to be all that you've changed recently. However, if you've been eating less fiber…
  • It depends on your weight and height and body composition. For example, I'm a 5'3" woman at 129 pounds. I probably have about 24% BF. I estimate that I burn no more than 8 calories per minute on an elliptical going quite fast and/or on very high resistance. I might still be over-estimating (based on what online…
  • I admire your strength! I'd definitely pick free pizza over a workout any day. My NSV today is getting a new bikini bottom and actually being excited to show it off some time this summer at the beach. Considering how much I hate my hips/thighs/butt on most days, this is a big deal for me.
  • I have so many, but I try to find decent substitutions. For example - I love chinese food, but I also love sushi! Sushi is much lower calorie (and I usually get the avocado and cucumber vegetarian sushi), so when I'm craving a take-out meal I go for sushi :)
  • 5'3" I have always carried my weight in my hips, thighs, and butt. At my heaviest, my B-W-H measurements were 36-27-41. At my lightest, my B-W-H measurements were 32-25-38. I'm a size Large or 8/10 (US) in pants/shorts, but I'm usually a Small/Medium in shirts and a Medium or 6/8 in flowy dresses (empire, ballgown, A-line,…
  • I wish I could quote this in every thread where people claim that 1200 calories diets are impossible or super unhealthy. I'm 5'3" and small-framed like you, my highest weight was 135 pounds and even then my sedentary TDEE was about 1600-1700 calories. There is no "one size fits all" calorie level and having a small frame…
  • Finishing up my first year of graduate school, working toward a Masters of Public Health. Cheers :drinker:
  • that sounds delicious to me!
  • This is great advice! I do this too. Today I had PB&J and cookies, yesterday I had ice cream. Tomorrow I'm having a few cocktails. Everything in moderation :)
  • http://content.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1977604-1,00.html This article cites a few studies and highlights their strengths and weaknesses, but essentially: food - particularly fatty, sugary, processed food - can lead to similar effects (deregulated dopamine, binge-behavior, disregard for pain-deterrence) as…
  • So what, your anecdotal evidence is supposed to set the standard for all women, and the women expressing differing opinions in this thread must be the anomalies? Could not be, perhaps, an association bias, in which you spend time with people who are similar to yourself and therefore react similarly? The internet is full of…
  • I didn't start a thread speaking for all women. You did, and then you gave attitude to people who expressed an opinion different from your own. And "same difference" is an oxymoron.
  • OP, good for you for being proud of your weight loss, but you are the one who started the thread by speaking for half the population on the planet. You have no right to give a snarky response to someone who simply expressed that she doesn't fall under your blanket statement. Anyway, congrats on your weight loss.
  • Wow now I feel like a d!ck. Ever since he was a kid my brother said he couldn't eat eggs because they make him sick, but he was (and still is) the pickiest eater I know - and eating baked goods that contain eggs never bothered him - so I assumed he was just making it up because he didn't like the taste of eggs. I'm going…
  • Cool, I'm in. 24 hours = 1440 mins all on high resistance elliptical: 6/2 = 50 6/3 = 55 6/4 = 55 6/5 = 55 6/6 = 55 6/7 = 0 6/8 = 0 6/9 = 55 6/10 = 55 6/11 = 60 total so far: 440 mins time left= 1000 mins
  • I'm at 1200 net but I usually eat back a lot of my exercise calories. Feel free to add me, and my diary is open either way.
  • This. I don't usually wear clothes that show underwear lines, so my cotton bikinis are perfect for every day and for workouts. I used to force myself to wear thongs because I'd heard that guys found them sexy. Then I realized the amount of people who even see my underwear other than myself is zero or next to zero. After…
  • Ditto! I'm 5'3" and at ~130 pounds. Started at 135, trying to get down to about 115 :)
  • I did that, made me feel much better about my own legs. Then I did "celebrity cellulite" and "celebrity without photoshop" and I felt 1 million times better about myself. I might not be perfect, but they aren't either. It's always nice to be reminded of that when I start getting down on myself.
  • Every time I look at that still from the deadlifting video makes me gag. Reminds me of this, but with more ouch. I can barely walk in high heels on the reg, so I'm definitely not exercising in them. Once, I did wear knee-highs boots (heeled, obviously) to a strip-aerobics class when I was 16. I was much braver - and dumber…
  • My boyfriend adds sour cream and cheese to my eggs when he scrambles them, it makes them light and fluffy and super delicious. I like to make them fried over easy, then put them on half a bagel with some cheese and tomato. Have you had eggs benedict? I've never tried to make them that way but my bf's dad makes them like…
  • OP here - this was just a joke. I'm not at all trying to make light of thyroid and other health issues. Plus, even people in this thread who have thyroid issues have expressed that it's still not impossible to lose weight, it's just very difficult - which is actually what the guy in the original image series says.
  • At such a low weight, you really can't have a full on cheat day (I'm about 130, 5'3"). Our calorie deficits are so low to begin with that eating a cheat day can ruin a whole week's progress. Sure, you can go over your daily calorie limit on sundays, but only by a few hundred cals, nothing extensive. EDIT: grammar
  • We're the same height and I have a similar goal (115 lbs)! I'm at about 130 right now, but yay! You look great :) EDIT: If you don't mind me asking, what were your daily calorie goals and estimated exercise-related caloric expenditures at about 130 lbs? Also what are your measurements? I've been considering doing another…
  • This is all you need, really. I'm 5'3" and 131 pounds. I have 0.9 lbs/week on mfp and it is set to 1200 cals. I mainly aim for protein and veggies, but I do think the quaker weight control oatmeal is excellent - it's a quick breakfast, it's tasty with a tsp of brown sugar added (otherwise it's relatively tasteless), and…
