Replying to come back later (I need a good HRM too)

I'm already a healthy weight, and my family/friends/boyfriend tell me I'm a good shape. However, I have such fragile self-esteem that having even a few extra inches on my hips (pear-shaped, of course) makes me feel terrible about myself. When I go to the gym, every time I see a girl who is thinner than me, I hate myself…

Even though you're at a high weight, you shouldn't focus on the scale. Focus on your dimensions (waist circumference, hips and thighs circumferences, upper arm circumference, etc.) and you'll see the change as you build muscle and diminish fat. I know it's hard to ignore the scale, especially when you're working so hard,…

Other responses here are dead-on: too many variables to have a standard for insanity. There are different workouts, you might workout at a different level (push yourself harder) than others, your heart rate/weight/gender/BF% all are very relevant to your calorie burn while doing insanity. They are relevant to other aerobic…

I generally don't like pet names, except I sometimes call my boyfriend 'boo.' He just calls me 'Em' which is a short version of my name, Emma. we have a little game where we use the dumbest and most ridiculous pet names for each other, or we use insults/silly words as nicknames: 'doo-doo,' 'dookie,' 'buttface,' etc. I HATE…

He's old enough to be my dad, and I still want him. and johnny depp. and sean connery (but I want him in his 007 days). and brad pitt. this is awkward.

I started at about 124, 5'3" and let me tell you, 1200 cals NET isn't 2 pounds per week, MFP just won't set it any lower than 1200 cals per day. For me it's more like 0.8 pounds per week, so for OP it's probably close to 1-1.5 pounds tops. EDIT: I agree with you about the other stuff, though - NET 1200 is the goal.

I love that idea! When I started losing weight and feeling more comfortable - and even proud - of my body, I bought cuter, tighter workout clothes :)

made oatmeal that wasn't an instant, pre-flavored packet, and thought mashing banana into it would make it taste decent. Nope. It was not enjoyable at all, and it was actually more calories than my reduced-sugar instant flavored oatmeal. Back to the safety of the stuff I know I like, I guess. Also I had one too many banana…

totally agree about the dark chocolate - I used to be a 'milk chocolate or nothing' type of person, but I really like 1-2 squares of dark chocolate that has chili extract, orange zest, or coconut in it. Super delicious and curbs the cravings :)

I cut strawberries up into quarters and sprinkle a tiny bit of sugar on them. Wait a few minutes, and the sugar draws a lot of the juices out of the berries and mixes into the juice. Makes them almost like strawberry candy, and surprisingly low-cal (but only if you use the sugar sparingly, which works because it only needs…

I'm 5'3" My highest weight, that I know of (I wasn't in the habit of weighing myself very much before I started dieting) was ~135-138 lbs.

5'3" SW: 132 lbs CW: 117 lbs. I'm aiming for 114 as of right now, but if I get there and keep losing, I'd be happy with 110. I just want my hips/thighs to shrink more, so if I am still a size 7/8/9 in US women's jeans at 114 lbs, then I will probably aim for 110. I want to be a size 4/5. EDIT: oh, and according to online…

Yards? Fuc k yeah! Those meals look super tasty as well :)

I agree with previous responses - portion control is a must, I usually go for chicken & broccoli, and steamed veggies when I get chinese food. Lots of water to counteract the sodium and fill you up :) Lastly, just expect to go over your calorie limit and be extra careful the next few days after to make up for the excess (I…

Thanks for the input, Yanicka and wolfman - I'll try not to panic for now and monitor my weight for another week or so.

thanks for sharing! love a good TED talk :)

I'm 5'3", started at 132 and my GW is 114. I'm currently at 120, and you should be able to look through all my profile photos on MFP for a reference :) Good luck on your journey!

My advice (from a previously-buzzcut female) is not to shave your head. Personally, I find a completely shaved head rather disconcerting. Very short buzzcuts are much less extreme. Just my two cents, though, to each their own :)

Generally, elliptical machines and MFP estimates are high, especially if you're on the smaller side. I'm a ~121 lb, 5'3" female, and I usually do about 45-60 mins on an elliptical at resistance 15 (out of 20), and my heart rate stays around 155, and I usually do the "Random Hills" setting for interval work. This doesn't…

oversized t-shirt and panties. in the winter my feet get really cold, so sometimes I also wear socks. not very sexy.

I don't log gum (which is approximately <5 cals per piece) or spices (salt, pepper, etc). I try to log most everything else. My guilty underestimation is that when I eat fast food like buffalo wings from the local pizzeria, I look for the lowest calorie wings I can find in the database to approximate the calories in the…

I've only got about 8-10 pounds til my goal weight, so I'm aiming for 4-6 pounds by Christmas. We'll see how that goes, considering Thanksgiving falls halfway between now and Christmas!

Biting my cuticles and sometimes my nails (if I get a hangnail) whenever I am bored/reading/watching a movie. It's not so bad that anyone else notices, but I hate it. Procrastinating - it's really not good to put things off to last minute in grad school. Too much work ends up getting done the day it's due. Getting grouchy…

IIFYM! factor it into your daily calories and make it fit! I eat ice cream, donuts, and/or cookies pretty much every day because I fit them into my daily calories :)

carrots/other veggies dipped in hummus, or hummus spread on whole wheat bread. It's tasty and filling. Sometimes I add cereal to greek yogurt for some crunch and some sweetness - if you use a high-fiber cereal, it's quite filling. Popcorn is surprisingly low-calorie - even the really buttery microwave popcorn can be a low…
