It's almost like people have different bodies and different metabolisms. But there's a modicum of personal responsibility assumed with websites like these. If MFP has you eating 2000 calories/day and you're not losing the weight that it says you are supposed to, lower your calories. If you consume less than you burn,…

Didn't you get sweaty? :O Over the ear headphones make me sweaty even if I'm not working out.

Maintaining weight has always been surprisingly easy for me. When I got to be 12 or 13 I finally got a computer. I was suddenly moving around a lot less, therefore my TDEE went down. I continued to eat like I was active, though, and slowly but steadily gained weight. It does not take someone eating 3000-4000 calories a day…

You're around the same weight as me and have the same goals! We should be friends haha :) Location: Michigan, United States Age: 23 Current Weight: 194 Height: 5'2" Mini goal 1: 185 by end of 2013 Mini goal 2: 160 by my 24th birthday (June 2014) Big goal: 130 by February 2015

Earbuds whenever I'm working out or out in public so I don't look like a freak wearing DJ headphones. Over the ear headphones every other time. Sony has been the most reliable brand for me. Every other pair seems to break after a year or two.

After 22 years of drinking "the real thing", diet soda just doesn't do it for me. In fact it actually tastes pretty gross. (Additionally, it's comparatively expensive on a college student's budget.) So I just drink water. But as always, my thoughts are live and let live...

This is all true-- provided you don't have some sort of medical problem that changes the way your body works. Get your thyroid tested, etc.

Nope. Not eating one day is not an eating disorder. Eating disorders are mostly psychological where people have intensely wrong views of fat and their bodies and diets.

It's okay. If you give up now, then you'll just be delaying your progress. So you had a few bad days. It's okay. Tomorrow is a new day and you can definitely do this. If you keep eating less than you burn, you're definitely going to make it. It's science. Good luck!

Hi. You asked a similar question to the person in this thread and there are lots of good pieces of advice: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1128496-will-power-where-does-it-come-from

I have PCOS, not diabetic yet but can get there if I wasn't watching what I eat. I haven't cut out carbs completely but I have been paying more attention to them. I was on birth control for a little bit but it made my blood pressure skyrocket so my doctor took me off of it. Now I am trying the all natural way of just…

Pop - Honestly not worth the calories. I don't even crave it anymore. I drink water almost exclusively, save for V8 and very rarely milk. Most sweets - I've kind of weaned myself off being a sweets addict. I hardly ever have cravings for it anymore. Ice cream - It just doesn't do anything for me anymore. Used to be my…

Been throwing around the idea for about 5 yrs or so now and never could decide on something. I figure that means I'm not cut out for tattoos haha.

Both. Cardio will burn calories (and make your heart healthy and a bunch of other good benefits) and weights will help you retain the muscle you already have so you won't be skinnyfat at the end of your journey.

Yeah my thoughts exactly... isn't a marathon kind of like one of the holy grails for runners? Takes lots and lots of actual running practice :)

You can't build muscle on a deficit. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/996906--you-can-t-build-muscle-on-a-calorie-deficit

Not today, but a couple of days back, I had 1/4 of a small cheesecake. It looked so great on the box, but when I actually had it, it was too much and too rich. I had been saving my calories all day to have the ~300 cal slice of cheesecake and ended up not even wanting it. :(

Nathaniel, Julian, Raphael?

I don't understand the logic from "you'll be slowing down your weight loss if you add in weights." I'm pretty sure you can't gain muscle while you're on a calorie deficit, just retain the current muscle you have.

Yep this. I have BDD/depression/anxiety but nowhere near having an eating disorder.

It's ok! So long as you're dressed professionally, they will not focus on your clothes and instead on your personality/qualifications.

My favorite hobby is picking up heavy stuff and putting it back down and then picking it up again.

You can try drinking V8 (regular kind, not the fruit kind which has a lot of sugar.) Also, nuts are very very calorie dense. I had a 3oz bag of almonds the other day and it was 510 calories.

1) Pre-plan your day. 2) Eat a little food more often. Then you won't end up hungry. 3) Eat more filling foods. Really sugary snacks aren't really good for staving off hunger. 4) Brush your teeth if the temptation gets to be too much. 5) Have some sort of "replacement" (sugar free gum, etc.) 6) Drink water-- it's pretty…

Ignore rolemodel69; exercise is technically NOT important in weight loss. It's all about burning more than you eat. Exercise comes in when you want fitness. (Also lol why add that you think everyone looks better with a lean toned body? How is that relevant at all???) If you are only comfortable with diet right now, then…

Uh. Why do they have to have lost 70 pounds to be "successful"? Seems arbitrary. Also, strength training helps the excess fat when you get to your gw. Someone who is 17 will have greater skin elasticity due to age as well.
-
There's no diet or exercise that will make you lose fat on one specific area. If you want to tone, strength train. If you want to lose weight, eat at a deficit.
-
You immediately write off people because they don't make the same choices as you? Must be fun at parties.

This exactly. I know that I don't exactly eat "clean" and honestly not everyone needs to know everything. The people who I'm very close to or need to know have the password, otherwise, I see no point in opening it up to the world. The only person who needs to hold me accountable is me. This has always worked for me and I…
