It does suck. I'm pretty sure my best meet is still in me. However, I turn 53 this year so I wonder if lack of progression is actually progression in a way in that I'm not losing strength as I age. My recovery has taken quite a kicking though. It's good to know I'd rank 14th in the USAPL M2 women though

Quebec's is set up almost like the Goodlift site for tracking lifters. I think Sabastien Rheaume set it up.

Those are some sick stats USAPL makes available. I love that kind of stuff. Congrats on the increase in wilks. I've been stuck at 352 for a few years and can't seem to get past it.

I don't know why you say you were struggling, they all looked fast as hell  Titty touching is always touchey. I had an awkward moment at a meet once when I locked out my squat and my back spotter just reached around and grabbed them at the end for no apparent reason. I think he forgot he was spotting a woman. It…

Like a number of people said, 205 is very doable. For reference, I could pull 205 in a couple of months of training. It took 3(ish) years to get to 315 and another 3 to get to 325. Enjoy the awesome gains while they're here

Very nice. Congratulations on the PR.

Since I've been with my husband, we've trained together. We met through competing in powerlifting almost 8 years ago. Before I trained with him, I trained with a team. I understand the desire to train alone as 'me' time as it can be quite productive. However, improvement in technique and form is often easier to come by…

I'd be very tentative due to your eye issue. I know that I often have visual auras around lights after I lift heavy. I would take it very slowly and see how your body and eyes like what's happening.

This isn't a PR because this is my first time trying this variation - Hatfield squats - 187.5 for 7. It seems like a good lift to over load. It hits the quads and almost mimics a leg press. It took a bit to get used to no hands on the SSB. Once I got over that, I liked it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2ZNKudg-Zk

Su-ventional. I'm a bit of a combination. My legs are wider like sumo but the actual pull is more like conventional where it's more back and leg drive and less hips and hams.
-
That was weirdly uncomfortable to watch.
-
I'm sorry but those would get three reds. Keep working on it. I know when the weight feels heavy, the tendency is to cut them high. I do the same thing. It's like a survival instinct.
-
Congratulations on your first meet. I hope it's the first of many, many more.
-
It looks like my left leg just kind of buckled. I've had it happen a few times. I think falling is more of a risk pulling sumo with your toes pointed out more. It hasn't happened to me in a while which is nice.

I'm going to check out those panties. Do they work well for pee? Deadlifting is much worse than squatting, even more so when you add a belt. The position of the belt hits at exactly the wrong spot. It's a good thing no one cares and is pretty blase about it.

Don't feel bad. I did this... at worlds. It was my opening attempt. I got it on my second. I can't recall if I peed but assume I did, that's why most of the master women I know wear incontinence pads when we compete. It's assumed it's going to happen. I have a number of spectacular public fails. If you lift long enough it…

That was nice. It's such an awesome feeling when you make a plate jump.

I feel you on this one. I have another meet coming up that I'll be doing equipped. I haven't lifted in gear in a couple of years and it's been fairly painful to relearn. The other week, most of my squats ended up on the pins because the suit was pulling me all over the place; my hips kept shooting forward. Super…

It's very individual. I love mine. I have skinny little feet and the shoes have a flared sole making them wider on the floor. I find it adds a lot of stability and I have less lateral ankle movement. Some people are meh about them. It's worth trying them for a sale price.
-
You're correct. I was only looking at the classification.
-
I don't think they actually factor age into their calculations. I looked at the numbers based on my actual age of 52 and compared the results against a 24 year old and got the same thing. Based on my most recent meet, at a bw of 58.8kg Squat 110.5 = elite Bench 52.5 = intermediate (and not likely to ever be much better)…

Quite a bit depends upon your level of experience. I wouldn't go near a 1 rep max on deadlift for months before a meet as much as 6 weeks before a meet for squat. I typically only train as high as a planned opener on squat and deadlift during a prep cycle. However, that is after years of experience and a solid knowledge of…

Have you done many meets before? I'm just curious as to why you'd want to cut as opposed to go in at the top of the weight class? I understand you want a better wilks but is there a reason you want one? I've been competing for 8 years and have done water manipulation to cut weight many times. I typically drink 4 litres a…

Nice job. PRs are an awesome feeling. I know what you mean about mental. I was like that with 185 for a long time.

I bought one about a year and a half ago. We typically use it once a week as accessory work after deadlifts. It's killer after pulling. I think the degree of difficulty is dependent upon exactly how the bar is cambered. I find mine more difficult than a straight bar (it's also heavier) but I've been at gyms where it…

I find it's terrible for any kind of walking for me. It has this weird effect on time. I feel like I'm walking, and walking and walking and walking and then I'm at the end of my block. It's like walking a rubber band
-
That's right. Apparently they gave him the bar at the end of the meet.
-
Nice total on him right? 1,017.5.

There is some amazing lifting that has gone on and is going on. I just watched K Branton bench 600 and squat 904 like a warm up. Our Provincial membership is up over 1,100 and the quality of the lifting reflects it. I reffed yesterday afternoon and was there early enough to catch the open women deadlifts. I watched a 63…

On Friday was our Ontario Provincial Championships. I'm almost 52 so compete as an M2 lifter. I was very happy with the meet results. I decided not to cut to 57kg and weighed in at 58.8. The only thing that felt unusually strong going into the meet was squats and I ended up with a 5.5kg PR and an M2 national record. Bench…
