Also agree with everyone that you should really aim for one 1-2 lbs a week max. It's only normal to lose more than that the first week when water weight tends to drop off quickly. It's also a bit normal to be hungry around the first week just because you're changing your habits BUT like others said make sure you are eating…

Unfortunately, you can't really do both at the same time. However, you still need adequate protein intake as well as strength training to ensure you do not lose muscle mass while losing fat. If you're completely new to strength training, you will have some initial strength gains in the first few months and likely some new…

I always do cappuccinos! Lower sugar, lower cals, and higher protein.
-
Agree. I've seen really great results with 5x5 stronglifts as a beginner and my workouts are short and effective.

Every time I make this recipe it is a HUGE hit. My mom took the recipe and makes it whenever guests come over her house now. I swap out thighs for chicken breasts to make it healthier (which I highly recommend). https://cafedelites.com/2016/06/08/balsamic-glazed-caprese-chicken-recipe/ and these meatballs:…

I'm actually not too sure about ab trainers, but waist trainers, while yes they WILL make your waist smaller, they will not reduce any sort of fat. I believe they slowly bend your ribs over time. https://www.t-nation.com/living/the-truth-about-waist-trainers Your best bet is good ol' diet and resistance training. As many…

In love with pistachios right now, but they're so darn expensive. Lately I've been getting fruit and nut mixes from Trader Joe's and they're so addicting. I have to watch myself because those calories, though nutritious, add up so fast!! :D
-
You can eat back those calories. If you enter them into MFP, your day's calorie intake will increase. I usually eat about half my exercise calories back just in case I burned less than I thought though

Incredible!!

This. Ezekiel bread is highly nutritious and there are several varieties!

Congrats on losing 30 lbs!! What the above poster said: It's water weight, not fat. You haven't actually gained the weight back. This is perfectly normal. Some people have fluctuated 5-10 lbs of water weight in a day! What do you do for activity? Have you tried strength training? If you're not already strength training, I…

My bad! Did not mean for it to sound that way! Agreed :)

I think you are confusing me for OP
-
*confused* I didn't mention anything about a recomp? haha, that's impressive though! But yeah, would take a while and have to be super consistent. I was suggesting cutting for fat and then maybe bulking once fat percentage is down to increase muscle mass.

Raw Avocado by itself and beets.

If you're new to lifting, you will gain some muscle - most people call it "noob gains." But after that period ends, I think it's a couple months (could be wrong), you need to eat an excess of calories to gain muscle mass. If you're trying to lose fat, you can do a cut. While you're cutting though, you must keep strength…

This is how I do it - Home > Settings > Update diet/fitness profile Make sure your information is all accurate and then you save. Then: Home > Goals You'll see your target calories and macros. It's best to pick sedentary activity and add your exercise calories manually so that your calories aren't over-estimated.
-
Yep, newbie gains are a thing! I think that you should probably just start a lifting routine like 5x5 stronglifts and do a cut. If you haven't already, figure out your calories and macros from somewhere like: https://www.iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ The strength training and eating your correct macros (especially protein)…

I thought I didn't have any pictures left of me at my heaviest, but I found some! Still have more to go, but I'm happy to know I'll never be back there again! I didn't see real changes in my body, even after the initial chunk of weight loss, until I started lifting!! Starting weight: 153 (5'3) Images from 2009 Current…

Sounds good!

You shouldn't go by BMR and I'm sure the rest of the forum could tell you that too. Punch in your numbers here and see what you get: http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/ Yes that's what I meant by it's harder at your age as well because of metabolism slow down. Glad you're weighing though!!
-
hahah the struggle is real!! Gosh I'm the same it makes me feel horrible whenever I drop weight and I'm starting to feel a little more pudgy from water weight now that I'm starting a new cardio routine. Stupid 120s. I'm going to keep lifting I think at a deficit for now, add in some HIIT and see if something happens.
-
Yes you're right on that though I'd still like to focus on fat loss. Do you think recomping would be a better deal (though slower results of course)?
-
Yes that's what I'm planning to do and Hiit is definitely good when you're also weight training. My body might be stuck at this weight, which is actually fine by me cause I don't care about the number, but this fat has to go! haha I'd rather have more muscle at this weight..future goals. And haha yes! I've done my fair…
-
Good point on the short vs tall argument!
-
I definitely think this is the key right here. I just gotta push a little harder!
-
Oh and when I took a break from dieting I'll admit I stopped lifting too then which was the biggest mistake. I've been back on track now :) hah
-
Thank you!! :) I lightened my weights up since I was failing too. I'd like to lift at maintenance but I still want to cut! I know eating more would help me but I'm so afraid of putting on extra fat lol.
