Yes, sometimes those dang cookies can control me so I keep them as far away as I can. Unfortunately, with a cookie monster as a boyfriend, this is not always possible and in that case I put it into my daily plan and work around it!

Do you drink alot of carbonated drinks? I notice that when I drink soda water (which I love!) my tummy will start to bloat and its not pretty!

Agree...you need to eat your goal calories so don't get behind and start getting hungry. Have some nuts, a piece of fruit with almond butter , greek yogurt, etc. Those are whole nutritious food ideas that are good for you and will provide the fuel you need to get to the next day. ! When I first started I found it…

Did you have your B-12 levels tested? I was suffering from the same thing and thought it was low iron but it turned out to be very low B-12. Turned out my body stopped absorbing B-12 so after a series of shots, I am now getting my B-12 thru a nasal spray. The difference is staggering. I feel so much better and did not…

The secret to low sugar and sodium is to eat fresh and as "close to the ground" as possible. Let processed food be a supplement, not a main part of your meal (ie., lean protein, lots of veggies, an maybe a scoop of rice, quinoa, etc). Hope this helps!

Awesome goal to be achieving!! I am inspired and in awe as i'm struggling to get to 30 pounds (but I will!). You should definitely mark the occasion in some way that has meaning to you. Also, be sure and take a picture and really see and appreciate the new you! Congratulations!

Agreed...nothing beats a good Heart Rate Monitor and it only requires wearing a strap around your chest. I run, bike, hike, lift weight in mine and it is not uncomfortable and i know for certain how many calories I have burned while exercising. I also agree with the comment of not tracking "everyday" stuff like cleaning…

Good Lord, eat your pasta! Its ok! Yes, the whole wheat is better for you (and the only kind that I eat) but if you can't stand it, have the white stuff, stay within your calorie limits and see how it works out for you. I have learned not to deny myself anything that I want to eat as i will think of this as a diet and it…

Good for you for not letting that jerk get to you! And he is a jerk, even though he is a doctor because you told him of your new lifestyle and instead of encouraging you to continue your healthy lifestyle, maybe even reviewing it in detail with you and giving you some tips from a medical perspective, he was rude and…

Do you blend it to make it stiff or just stir with a fork?

I look at this program as a time to really figure out what it means to eat food that is nutritious and good for me (unprocessed, balanced not too extreme either way, ie., carbo loading, or protein focused etc) and so it has been a lot of trial and error. Yesterday, I had a stressful day and suddenly realized I was…

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you run "up and down"? If you have access to a gym, go ask a fitness trainer to watch you run on a treadmill. They are usually willing to help give you some guidance. If the exercise physiologist said not to run, I would take his/her opinion over someone who works at a nutrition…

I just added you as a friend and am happy to help encourage and support you as I have gotten so much of that here myself! Good for you for asking for help!!

I own both books and I think they both contain valuable information that you can use. Dr. Oz's take is humorous but he simplifies how things work in our bodies at a level the layman can understand. Bob Greene's book has good advice as well though I thinked I kind of just skimmed it. However, I do refer to it for healthy…

Yes that is correct. I am doing P90x too and i had to create my own exercise for each DVD and then enter in the calories i have burned based on what my HRM says. FYI, I put both the strength and the cardio under cardio as you cannot enter calories burned under strength and I want to count that! And as Rurukidoo pointed…

I would say yes based on my own personal experence. Before I lost 22 lbs I would run/walk for an hour, and burn 600 calories according to my HRM. Today, I run for an hour, go further in my route, but I barely hit 500 calories on my burn. My understanding is that as you get fitter, your body gets more efficient and uses less…

Funny you should post this tonight as I picked up a Rainbow Row at Whole Foods for dinner tonight. I did what was suggested and entered each item separately. But first, I took one of the pieces apart and weighed the salmon, avocado, and rice and from that I was able to guestimate the calories. THe roll logged in about 270…

I saute the quinoa with some shallots then cook with chicken broth. After it has cooked I stir in fresh thyme, lemon juice (2-3 tablespoons) and some chopped veggies (if I have on hand).

I looked at your diary and you are very low in protein. I would add a scoop of protein powder to your milk, some ice, a banana and you would have a great protein shake. I would have some protein (maybe a couple scoops of cottage cheese) to your baked potato I just reread your note that you don't eat fish or meat. Have you…

Ah, that is an inspiring story! I love your determination and I love the generosity of others trying to help. It shows us all in a good light!

I am still at my starting calories of 1280 and I'm still losing. However,I burn about 800 calories a day and eat back most of them SO I think as I get closer to my goal (I'm within 10 lbs I think) I will just burn less but stay at the 1280 and net/net out.

I agree. It is hard to target a clothing size as they are all over the map (I can fit in size 10-14s depending on the maker). I like how you have your goals for weight/hip/waist measurements as those are more accurate measurements. Once you get to that goal you can assess, can/do you want to lose more and go from there!…

Wow, it is amazing what some people say sometimes! Clearly you have been working hard for some time and you would think they would be happy and proud of you for such commitment. Nope, they had to bring you down. I could say forget it, they don't matter, but clearly their opionion mattered to you and they let you down, and…

I think you read the wrong amount. I just went to the FDA calorie counter, entered in egg whites and selected the portion of 1 egg and it says: 16 calories which is about right. The calories on this site are not always accurate and I do read the boxes/labels but in this case, they are correct!

This is the great thing about MFP. The system does all this calculation for you!! The system calculates this based on the goals you have set in your profile. If you put in your profile how much you weigh, that you want to lose 2 lbs and that you are sedentary and how many days you expect to workout, it will give you a…

Good info, thanks!

Same here!! OMG, I use to be the Queen of eating below 1200 and felt so proud of my willpower and ability to control the amount of food in my mouth. As I got older I started gaining weight and couldn't figure out why as I was eating and working out pretty much the same. I had my BMR tested and discovered it had dropped 300…

I feel for you! I injured mine almost 2 years ago and it took awhile to get back its full use. After you are done ranting, raging (maybe cocktail or two?) I recommend that you work with someone to (Physical therapist/trainer?) and get a program together that works with your injury that includes some sort of muscle…

Take the kids and get walking :>) Then come home, clean the house and run up the stairs 20 times. After that, you will be too tired to feel guilty!
