You can get a more accurate and easier to follow plan if you figure out your TDEE and use that rather than the MFP settings. There is a website you can actually log how many hours you are active (cooking), how many hours you do nothing (sleeping), and everything in between. You can run it twice: get a number for days you…

I just sent a friend request. I keep my food log public. I'm trying to lose weight slowly, eating healthy, not depriving myself... anybody who feels the same feel free to send me a FR.

I tore my ACL & MCL a few years ago. I do squats every other day now. I probably could have avoided that injury, ACL reconstructive surgery (and the expensive medical bills) if the muscles around my knees were stronger. When there is something wrong with a joint it is uber important to strengthen the muscle around the…

On a cal deficiency I think it is pretty hard to get ALL the vitamins you need. You can look at your log and see where you are coming up short and get vitamins specific to that, or just get a multi. I have no recommendations for a multi for a guy. Women's needs are a bit different.

It is a way of marking a post that you want to read later. It is easier to find then, just go to "My Topics"

I love spaghetti squash for this. And it is so easy to make, cut it in half, scoop out the seeds, place it cut side down in a flat bottomed microwaveable dish, pierce the skin with a fork a few times then microwave for about 8 minutes (it'll vary depending on the size of the squash). Test doneness by trying to pierce the…

Any dish in particular? Sometimes there is no replacement and you just have to eat some foods as treats to have sparingly. Your taste buds and cravings will change as you start to enjoy healthy foods.

pinterest is soooo dangerous. I find a lot of great ideas there, but I often get hungry just looking at the food pictures. Maybe I need to change who I'm following

It's been stated already, but worth repeating. Being healthier will save you $ in the end. No more co-pay for your BP meds, dr bills, hospital visits, etc. But a few tips to make it easier on your wallet: 1. by in bulk (I shop at Whole Foods for this reason, people probably think I'm wealthy going to Whole Foods all the…

Are you going by the numbers MFP gave you? From what I've been reading, as long as you are under in calories and your doing some weight training you can and should eat more protein. Here is some good info for figuring out exactly how much: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/819055-setting-your-calorie-and-macro-targets

Amazing. Thanks for sharing. I'm so inspired to do the 5x5. Did you use a trainer or somebody to help you with form?
-
Also, I believe you are limited. So one apple is 0 points... but if you eat 5 you need to count 4 (or something, not sure the specifics).

Well said. Thanks for clearing this all up!

How important is it to squat with weights (especially if you are already 30/40 lbs over weight)? added: I'm not using weight. I do 3 sets of 15, it burns a little but I don't get to that "failure" stage)

I'm really good with photoshop. I've been known to make myself skinnier in photos :ohwell: ... hopefully I won't have to do that any more

I usually do arms on a running day, this makes so much more sense. Thanks!

Can I jump in with a question??? Is there a problem with doing cardio and weights in the same day?

I read somewhere that carrots were good for this SO I tried it and I think it actually worked. So now I try to eat carrots every day. I'll try anything... almost. Not sure about drinking apple cider vinegar - how does it taste, I'm afraid it would make me vomit.

I met with a trainer 2 years ago, he told me no dairy. He also had me take beans and starches out of my diet. I ate nuts, fruits, veggies and lean meats and lost 10lbs in two weeks (exception: yogurt, I told him I needed my yogurt - girls... you know what I mean). Went from 175lbs to 165lbs. I eased up a bit on that diet…

Awesome!

I've been trying to exercise in the morning, and I'm not a big breakfast person. So I've been eating a hard boiled egg when I get up. Then it is an hour before I actually get to the gym. I've been feeling fatigued half way through my workout. I thought I was just really out of shape, but maybe I need a bit more in the…
