It's all individualized. Using the cliche bucket of water metaphor, in order to have peak performance you need to put in adequate rest (full rest or active rest) equal to what you take out in your chosen sport/activity. How much recovery needed is based on far too many factors, and thus individualized. Are you making…

37, about to turn 38. Male, 6'0". Went from 250 lbs and 38"+ waist to 196 lbs and 33" waist last year in about 10 months with heavy lifting and some cardio. Switched gears for a while and went from 196 lb up to 225 lb in 6 months, still in 33" pants. Now cutting down some body fat for the summer. I log daily, although…

Two months ago I had to put in a second hole in my belt as I keep leaning out. This morning I was in a rush for work, threw on a clean pair of jeans, threaded my belt and went to buckle it....the pin wouldn't go in the hole. In my I'm-late-for-work-I-REALLY-need-coffee moment, my brain couldn't figure out what the problem…

Absolutely incredible!!! Congratulations!

Usually I completely zone out and do my own thing in the gym. But on occasion when I see or acknowledge others, I'm usually thinking only positive thoughts - "Good for them!" or "He/She's new, good for them getting in here." You'd be surprised, most people are not judging you, yet alone cares what you're doing. You do you.…

I am so making this for my office...

I would smack the bejesus out of my former self for thinking about dating my ex. Don't do it man!!!

Yo! We can do this! Feel free to add me. 46 lb down, 14 more to go to first goal.

It's a tool like any other. As long as you use it, it can certainly help you in your weight loss journey. I've absolutely loved mine, and it has definitely opened my eyes to my activity levels. I like the daily goals that it gives you to strive for as well, and I personally do better in the long run having mini goals to…

I had a pleasant surprise this evening while leaving the gym. My trainers asked me if the gym could advertise my weight loss to inspire others, with before and "after" pictures and stats. It would be part of the video feeds throughout the gym. I was both shocked and flattered! Especially since I'm still 10-15 pounds away…

Having lived in Michigan all my life, and now having also lost a lot of weight, I'm cold all of the time. I LOVE to be in the heat. Maybe it's because it suddenly feels comfortable even in the 90-100 degree days compared to when I was over weight?

I was a PF member for a couple of years. My goals at that time were different than they are now, and back then my only goal was weight loss. PF did just fine for cardio equipment and minimum weight equipment. Just avoid the free pizza, tootsie rolls and donuts that they provide. Each PF seems to be run slightly different.…

I've had to tune people out, and realize that others are responsible for their own actions. The negative things that they may say or do are usually out of their own insecure points of view, and inability to control themselves, thus leading to negative reactions to what should be a positive situation - a friend/loved one…

It usually helps me, since I only meal prep for part of the next day at a time. During a work day I'll have breakfast through afternoon snack planned out, and then depending on how heavy my workout is in the evening I'll then make adjustments and decided on a dinner to fit my macro goals. Weekends I try to plan my meals in…

Single father here, 37 years old and one absolutely amazing 9 year old daughter. I started 7 months ago, and I'm down 45 pounds as of this morning. 15 more to go to my first goal. I work full time, and I understand completely how hard it can be both mentally, emotionally, physically and financially. But you CAN do it, and…

Fantastic work, congratulations! Your dedication and hard work really shows, well done.

Incredible, congratulations!!

I love it. I've been using it for about 3 months now, and the battery easily lasts 4-5 days. You'll even receive email notifications when your battery gets low. Heart rate monitor is spot on compared to the chest straps that I've used. I don't regret buying it at all. It has been an amazing tool so far.

First, take a big deep breath. :) It's okay, I understand your anxiety. This is a common and normal feeling. Rest assured, two weeks will not make any significant negative or positive impacts to the progress you have made. If you take your days in moderation, even splurging some to enjoy yourself while on vacation, you'll…

I easily, on many occasions, eat a pound of meat or more every day while still on a deficit. Blood work and health is perfect. As a society we're too removed from where our meat comes from. Anyone that has grown up in a rural community will tell you that life and death is natural, and thus so is cultivating and killing…

I'm not a morning person, and I tend to be a night owl. I work an 8-5 shift as well, and the evening is pretty much the only time I'll get to the gym. Echoing another post above - keep moving after you get out of work. If you're hungry, then plan on factoring in a late afternoon snack into your calorie budget before you go…

I agree with this 100%. Mental and emotional abuse is never called for, it doesn't matter if it's directed at a male or a female either, it's just wrong. Empower yourself, you deserve better.

That losing weight is like a train. It starts slow and it's difficult at first, but once the momentum is going it just does not stop. Habits and exercise and energy build in momentum and everything keeps moving forward like a freight train, and the only thing that can stop it is you.

Eating food will satiate your appetite no matter what your size is. When you reach your lower goal weight you will likely eat far less and still feel satiated. There will be no need, and you will probably have no interest in, eating the same volume of food that you consumed at a higher weight.

9 more to go. So close, yet so far away.

That you'll have a giant collection of tupperware containers of every shape, size (and maybe color). And you'll be doing dishes and laundry far more often than you used to. OH, and the winter - FREEZING. All. The. Time.
