It can't work that well if all the olympic athletes in the world (who's sport is based in the high heart rate zones) are still eating a high carb diet. Yes, it's a good idea to expand your aerobic heart rate zones, and you could burn body fat fast enough to do this, ie for endurance, iron man, anaerobic sports like…

1. I either weigh myself OR log daily. Sometimes both. 2. Dinner time is my weakness. I have a lower carb main then after doing the dishes a big juicy bowl of full fat greek yoghurt with golden syrup, granola and berries and a decaff coffee. Every night! thats my signal to stop. it's a daily struggle. 3. I snack on green…

Your reasoning lacks......reasoning. Give up the ghost. humans lose weight if they eat at maintenance and exercise. Whether it be 100 cals a day or 1000. Also, if I lose half a pound it makes a massive difference. A pound loss for a big guy like sijomial won't even make a dent.
-
Don't do it. Maybe an extra banana.
-
I'm aware of that. You may be right according to this study though. Depends on how much of the body is fat, I still can't believe that someone with 100lb of fat on their body could safely cut this fast though....they are suggesting 30 calories from each pound of fat could be burned a day I think...that's nearly a pound a…

Recomping is slow, hard to track and monitor, and for the rare person that can eat exactly to maintenance, has inhuman amounts of patience and is experienced in lifting/bulking and cutting. I find it an inferior and very hazy way of doing it.
-
I say don't worry about it, because just getting down to a good 20% body fat will work wonders. Find out for yourself. I got rid of my 5 stone weight gain after pregnancy and am back to a 25" waist. i'm about 17-19% Body fat and 45.

Holy crap! That makes that hard earned muscle even more valuable than gold. Linky pretty please?
-
You are recommending losing more than 3lbs a week. That will eat into muscle. Why is that 'better'? oh yes, I remember you, you can magic muscle out of thin air so you don't value it like us mere mortals.
-
I've lost 3lbs since Jan 1st. Thats a quarter of a pound a week. But I know it's mostly fat.
-
What is your weight loss per week goal?
-
Don't panic. It's very unlikely you have gained any muscle while in deficit. I'm assuming you are METICULOUS with your calories and really are eating the amount you state. It's highly likely you have gained water weight to repair the muscles from your routine. Keep going. Measure yourself, keep records, be super patient.…
-
Ok OP just keep eating 500 cals over your daily needs using high calorie density foods like peanut butter sandwiches etc. Aim for a 1lb a week goal. You need to put fat on anyway but if you can get to a gym and start moving some iron around that would make some of that weight gain muscle. Keep assessing yourself in the…

Of course you can drop body fat from dieting. But there's no way a 45 year old woman such as myself is going to build any muscle at all without excess calories and a heavy progressive weight lifting routine.
-
Male, female? Age? Pictures? Are you on a progressive lifting routine? Are you recovering from an eating disorder?
-
Maybe a little for someone that has never lifted before but, no generally you cannot build muscle without an excess of calories. I tried everything, and bulking and cutting totally did it for me. But you have to be meticulous and lift heavy and progressively.
-
On a cut you target fat loss, and it's a good idea to get sub 20% body fat before, as the leaner you are before you start, the more likely you are to gain a higher muscle ratio on the bulk. So if you mostly lose fat on a cut, gain half and half muscle on a bulk, then lose mostly fat on the final cut you are very likely to…

Are you from 1983?

I didn't see the list. I know lots of athletes now. They're all riddled with injuries. But they are top of their game, representing their country etc. they know what it's all about. the injured people I heard about from doctor friends were just normal every day Crossfitters. Inexperienced and in a bit of shock from the…
-
Absolutely. Of course. But as a woman is who is quite competitive I know it's nothing compared to the men I know, and these environments get everyone so riled up and excited and time driven they couldn't listen to their bodies if they wanted to,. Crossfit plays on this, and this isn't a one off, I've heard the same story…
-
No! That's not fighting talk!
-
I hated cross fit before because I'd heard tales from friends and doctors about all the injuries. Now it's got personal. A beautiful person in my life, young, strong, ex athlete, has injured himself so badly he has to have surgery on a torn hip labral tear and may never run again. He's broken hearted. Deep squats cross fit…

I would cut very slowly to under 20% body fat, so maybe half a pound to pound a month until autumn resting and getting your injury better. Cutting too hard is going to screw that healing process up. You will also be able to see what your true TDEE is to base your bulk on. Try then running a bulk eating 250 cals a day over…

I disagree. I do a very intense 45-60min weight liftng session that has me swearing, sweating, red in the face and generally not a pretty sight. I lift up to 1.5 times my own body weight, rest 1 min between sets and a couple of minutes faffing about. It really doesn't burn half as much as the running I do, in half the…

It won't be long before we find out! Go girl go! Please report back. I declare WAR against cellulite with this thread.
-
That time wasting your talking about got me to 15% body fat, because it created that small 100-200 cal defecit I needed to melt the fat off me. I could have created that deficit by more calorie restricting, but I like exercising, and it keeps me out of the kitchen, it also sometimes meant a glass of red wine or two to keep…

She weighs 150lb, so it's no so high for now, maybe as she loses she will need to cut further, the point being is she is going to find out by keeping records. The amount of carbs are irrelevant. Stripping carbs away gives a false water weight loss that isn't real fat loss. Best she eat 100-120 g of protein a day and fill…
-
It seems high, but yes, try eating the the exercise cals back, adding them on to your 1500. I recommend weighing yourself every day and averaging once a week though, to mask any fluctuations. The drop will show once a week. Please keep this thread going, so we can see if it works and help you if you get stuck. Patience is…

If you don't cut then your amazing abs will just be hidden under a layer of fat.

I have horrible cellulite that totally disappears when I have the staying power to get my body fat down to athletic levels. Is that a genetic trait? I think everyone can get themselves to a point where cellulite goes away.
