  • I am 5'1'' about 115. Just coming off a lot of late night working and carb loading. Trying to get back to normal which is exercising cardio almost daily with some strength thrown in, mainly in the form of physical therapy exercises I have kept up on after my various injuries (IT band, rotator cuff). At 46 hoping to stay a…
  • Back too after about 10 months! Please add me
  • Hi I am back after an extended hiatus, feel free to add me too!
  • you can add me too. I am shorter than you are, makes it hard! I have a little one (at 40 so now she's 5) so lots of tempting mac and cheese in my house
  • I agree over 40 even well before menopause it is harder. Building muscle in whatever way you can and if time is short sneaking in mini-workouts helps. I do stairs at the station waiting for the train or at work (in high rise office building). And being aware that seemingly minor dietary indiscretions seem to have a greater…
  • I keep decaf chai tea at work so if I want something kind of sweet I try that first before hitting the co-worker's chocolate stash
  • Agree, I thought it all fell apart at menopause but apparently early to mid 40's is when it starts getting tough. Feel free to add me too. try a meditation app if you are wanting to snack without being hungry or going for a walk.
  • I know what you mean. Cheese sticks or pistachios (in shell, less salt and takes longer to eat) help me at work. Not sure if your work setting is amenable to this, but I will take breaks to walk some flights of stairs or weather permitting walk around the block outside. Usually by the time I am back at my desk the desire…
  • Feel free to add me too! I'm 5'1 and it's so painful how every pound really counts.
  • Feel free to add me. I know what you mean about metabolism even without the medical issues.
  • Great for you to try to get in a routine before school starts if that is the crazy time. What exercises are you doing? If you have access to a gym you can try some different classes. Or throw some yoga or pilates downloads or DVDs into the mix if you mainly exercise at home.
  • Some people benefit from yoga but for some it may irritate it even more. If you can afford it, you may want to shop around and see if a one time visit to a physical therapist could give you some pointers and adapt your exercises.
  • Welcome. There has to be some online options for small serving number recipes. http://food.unl.edu/fnh/cooking-for-1-or-2 may have some ideas/resources? Never used it myself because I don't like to cook so usually make enough to have leftovers at least twice...
  • Weekends are harder because I snack with my child too much when I am home with her. Weekdays at work are more structured. If only one of my staff didn't keep a big back of bite sized chocolates at her desk, I'd be set. Also lucky because there is a produce market in my office building, so if my lunch isn't good or isn't…
  • Dr. didn't really diagnose but therapist said my recent decision to increase frequency of running (rather than mixing up with bike/elliptical) and initiating HIIT concurrently made my gluteus medius muscle and IT band very unhappy. Starting on my stretches and strengthening and will hopefully be back to my usual workouts…
  • What kind of exercise? I can't say I know much but others have sworn by interval training for any aerobic activity. I know where you are coming from--I am 44 and I am having similar issues (although my diet is less than ideal) and have spoken to multiple other women my age who have noticed the same thing. Try not to get…
  • Running too but feeling it now...starting running lots more while on vacation in Illinois but back here in Atlanta the hills KILL my joints! Might need to start hitting the treadmill or check out local high school track :)

  • Pretty close, except I've got almost 10 years on you which I discovered recently seems to make a big difference age 44 height 5'1 SW 127 CW124 GW 120
  • Hi first time I am doing this. Having trouble getting back on track after a vacation so let's put it in writing: 2 week goals 1. More water 2. Don't eat all exercise calories 3. No sweet treats and alcohol on the same day--pick one or the other 4. No snacking on toddler's uneaten food--too hard to log miniscule amounts of…
  • Maybe if you cook ahead and re-heat you can do more of the family meal thing before night time for your child? I do that routinely although end up snacking later at 9 or 10 which may not be any better than what you do. I have read it is a good habit to get into the family meal thing, although my 4 year old somehow hasn't…
  • It's definitely not too late. Keep it up!
  • Hang in there. It's a tough balance--I end up having to work out after 8 after little one is in bed and then tend to need a snack late night. I try to keep with the family meals though, because family meal time has been recommended as a factor to prevent childhood obesity. If you are really concerned about health risks,…
  • I mostly do because I have trouble keeping to the 1200 calorie limit, but I have heard it isn't an even match so try to have at least some leftover each day.
  • Congrats on the race, feel free to add me.
  • Thanks. I have been relying too much on those exercise calories I think. I have heard you really can't use them to "cancel out" what you ate in exactly the way the system does it. That being said I am not optimistic about progress over the next few weeks--home to Chicago and my fave pizza place is right near where I am…
  • Thanks all! I do have an unused food scale I may give a try for some stuff and need to be better about weighing--will probably stick to once a week, same scale, same time of day. Hadn't weighed myself regularly since I lost the baby weight 3 years ago so forgot the rules! My clothes definitely don't feel as tight as they…
  • Please add me. I am into my 40s, new and have trouble with 1200, especially on days I don't exercise (rare but they happen). Good luck!
  • I have been working on my carbs too and exercise regularly although have a sedentary job. Having same issue after this winter for the first time that I really recall. Feel free to friend me. Melissa
  • Congratulations. Sitting at work is the worst. If you can, try to take short walk breaks or if your building has stairs do that periodically. Every little bit helps!
  • I'm new too as of a few weeks ago. Feel free to add me.
