Juice fasts generally don't work too well for most people trying to lose fat weight.
-
My doctor refuses to prescribe me Phentermine and it makes me so angry.
-
Vismal, you shouldn't get so defensive when people say you didn't look morbidly obese before. You carried your weight very well and probably had a lot of muscle tissue as well.

Thanks for sharing this story. It's a real issue that many of us face in our weight loss journey yet don't open to share because it goes against the groove.

Coconut cream can be used in place of coconut milk in all recipes. They are the same except that the latter is diluted with more water. I need to point out that traditional coconut milk is NOT the same as the coconut milk BEVERAGE that has gotten popular in American grocery stores. I'd recommend using the coconut cream in…

Cool whip is still made with trans fats? I wish there was a sugar free and fat free version.

Weigh it raw or frozen raw (mostly same weight). Cooked chicken breasts can sometime vary in calories per 100g depending on how dry you cooked it.

Juicing vegetables is better than juicing fruit. Fruit juice is high in calories and should be considered a treat. It's better to eat your vegetables in its entirety to get the most out of the fibre however I think it's a rather healthful option if you don't like bits of veg in your smoothies but still want most of the…

Adult males in general have more lean body mass than females. This leads to a naturally higher basal metabolic rate which basically means he can eat slightly more than a woman and still lose weight.

I got really excited looking at the page but was let down to find out that its just another form of shirataki noodles.

Today I overate during dinner with wonton soup. Granted, I omitted egg noodles and instead had a lot of raw nappa cabbage as "filler" but I went back and had my bowl refilled several times. I don't know how many calories it is since my mother cooked it but I have a feeling I ate at or above my maintenance unfortunately…

That doesn't sound like something you would experience from not eating chocolate. It's possible to have "withdrawal" from sugar in the form of irritability and intense cravings but what you described sounds weird. Do you think it's placebo?
-
Don't body builders sometimes do this when preparing for a show? I don't know much about it and have a hard time grasping how it could help you lose fat more efficiently than a general calorie deficit. I'm guessing that the science on this is quite limited?

Those vegetables are healthful and can be filling but eating small bits of it with mostly water/salt is basically a fast. These ultra-low short term diets are useful in getting the scale to read a lower number due to you losing water weight but be forewarned that they also usually put in a catabolic state in which your…

Yes, I have this problem too. A couple hundred here and there and you've already eaten more than half your daily allowance. It sucks but keeping track of it as you eat is probably the best thing you can do to adjust in real time. Imagine just trying to wing it and unintentionally overeating so many calories.

Free? I just bought a box for $25 yesterday. Oy vey. Anyway, just think of it this way, seven bars is a lot to eat in one day but at least each bar is lowish in calories. It could have been much, much worse had they been candy bars. You probably have a binge/overeating issue (as do I) so don't buy sweet-ish foods in bulk.…

Sounds like another yo-yo diet in the making here.

You're probably eating more calories than you are aware. Pretty much everyone underestimates calories when they eye portion sizes. Weighing what you can will help with this. I hit a plateau last month when I started to become more relaxed with weighing. It turns out I was routinely underestimating how many calories were…

I have a sodium sensitivity and unfortunately I like salty foods (i.e. jerky). For me, even slightly too much sodium will cause my eyelids to swell up and itch with water retention. It's horrible and started when I was in college and ate a lot of instant noodle packets.

Sounds delicious but it's too high sugar and high calorie for what I should be eating.

What is "hangry"? Is that where you are so hungry that you are very irritable and angry hence hangry?
-
Wouldn't your body burn fat more efficiently when your blood sugar is low aka in fasted state? I try to exercise on an empty stomach but I just get way too hungry and it makes my time at the gym very miserable. I probably could get better fat burning if I had enough self-control to exercise while hungry.

I've requested to be prescribed Phentermine twice with my doctor but he refuses. He says the heart risks it carries is not worth it.

Dude, the meetings are one of the best things about WW. It keeps you accountable to yourself and others.
-
Yes, I started food logging with WW last year and stalled rather early on due to abusing the "no point" fruit and vegetables. I like fruit a lot already so having "free points" with grapes, watermelon, etc actually meant I was eating too many calories.

I need to go pick some up again. They are one of the best very low-cal foods imo. Dry frying them is kind of a pain since it takes a while. I normally boil them like the instructions says so it adds even more prep time.

Unfortunately you're probably eating at maintenance. Since you're probably within a healthy weight range, losing fat is going to be much more difficult and slow. All you can really do is slightly decrease your caloric intake and see how your body responds over time. If you feel like it would be too difficult to noticeably…

It's nice to hear this story and know that you have struggles too. I kept thinking you were perfect. Yes, I have a soft spot for Chinese buffets which are notorious for very fatty, salty and sugary food.
