I find that walking on the treadmill at the highest incline for about 10 minutes after I lift has helped. That's really all I do to target them now, outside of some one leg body weight calf raises when I feel like it. The treadmill at an incline really gives them a pump. I've heard that you want to go with a higher rep…

I saw one for a couple months and noticed no difference other than suffering a slipped disk in my neck towards the end of my treatment. Worst.pain.ever. It hasn't slipped again in the three years since I ceased treatment. Needless to say, I think the adjustments caused it.

I'm not going to get into the details, but I struggle with some similar issues and I found his post to be increadibly insightful. It's definitely a different perspective, but I appreciate much of what he said.

Below parellel quats and glute bridges! You'll feel awkard doing glute bridges, but you'll get over it. It's so worth it! Would you rather have amazing glutes or not look a little silly in the gym for 15 mintures?

^ Me too. I switch up my program every four months or so.

A guy at the gym offered to unload the preacher curl machine for me last night. It was a nice gesture. The coolest part was that I had to tell him "no thank you" becuase I curl the same weight that he does ;).

Hi! I'm getting married in 2 months and have 6 more pounds to lose before I'll allow myself to get fitted in my wedding dress. I'm trying to get back down to the 130 lbs I weighed when my fiance and I met three years ago. I started "cutting" two weeks ago at 141.5 and am down to 136 lbs. I put on a lot of muscle (and some…

There was a boy in the parking lot this week, maybe 11 years old, who offered to return my cart for me while he was on his way to return his sister's cart. It made my day :).

I love the teeth whitener idea. I think whiter teeth make people look younger and healthier.

This may sound strange, but I've found that chewing gum helps. I don't know why. If I run without chewing gum I get stiches in my side which I think are from improper breathing. Give it a try :)!

Welcome! I <3 lifting. It's the BEST therapy in the world... even better than retail therapy because it saves money and helps you look fantastic :). I hope to be lifting into my 90's.

Actually, healthy people can get low blood sugar. You can be very slightly hypoglycemic and not test positive for anything on the blood labs, but exhibit low blood sugar syptoms like these occassionally.

You don't just have to want it, you have to want it MORE than the thing that is sabotaging your success (in this case the food).

The issue with not losing weight is ALWAYS from eating too much. Caloric deficit = weight loss 100% of the time. Of course, it's not quite that simple i.e. averages over time, amount of activity, etc. All that popcorn and/or large dinners must be adding up to more than you think if you're maintaining by eating one meal a…

Could be low blood sugar. When I don't eat enough, I start losing the ability to concentrate (fuzzy eyes) and my mouth (more specifically tounge) starts to feel numb. After I eat, the symptoms go away.

Eggs for breakfast. No joke, try it ;).

^ Love this! I'm going to try it... al least once ;). I rarely do sets over 15 and pyramid down from there. Should be interesting!

Favorite: Bench Press Least favorite: Squats!!! Ugh, I hate them! I can barely walk today :(

You should not necessarily be using the same weight for all those different exercises. The rule of thumb is that it should be difficult to do about 8 reps with the 10th-12th becoming very hard (but possible) to complete. Once you can more easily do 10 reps, it's time to up the weight. Best of luck!

Also, free weights allow for free range of motion. Some of those machines put your body in positions that may be unnatural for some, which could lead to injury. If it doesn't feel right, don't do it. There's a sholder machine at my gym that after trying once (for fun) I won't go near anymore!

Good for you for taking an interest :drinker: ! A couple good resources you can google: - Starting Strength - Stronglifts 5x5 - New Rules of Lifting for Women (book) If you have access to a gym, I highly reccomend hiring a personal trainer for 3-5 sessions to get you started and teach you proper form. I would also come…

I have this too. Google "Highly Sensitive People". TResearchers are thinking that it, along with other annoyances, are a result of extrememly sensitve nervous systems. My sister and I have looked into it because we both have whatever it is.

Because it's fun! Cardio is so boring. I get a rush when I lift. I love when I'm outlifting the guys around me :). It also makes my body look pretty awesome. It's functional too. My parents were helping my Grandma move last weekend and they called ME to help. Not my brother in law, not my finace, not any of thier male…

I don't ;).

You don't HAVE to go to the gym to get in better shape, but gyms are great! For me, I don't have heavy enough stuff to lift at home so the gym is a must! It just depends on what your goals are. It's a great place to meet new friends too :). I wish I had discovered that when I was much younger, like you.

There is nothing wrong with fat, as long as it's the healthy kind (unsaturated).

There's no better time than now.

My dog ate a tube sock, threw it up days later, and then ate it again before we had a chance to get to it. We caught it the second time around ;). He also trys eats his poopies as soon as they exit. Yuck!!!!
