I'm 5'10" I would say pretty large frame, my middle finger and thumb don't meet around my wrist, and I'm quite broad accross the hips and shoulders (even without the fat). I think I wouldn't like to go any lower than 165 as my goal, I'd be too thin. I started at 265, I'm currently 220. Previously at 195 I've been in pretty…

Nice ... Lol. There's no Nice people on MFP. There's trolls and zealots and the terminally whiny (I don't log my food correctly and I CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT PLZ HELP). There's topics you should NEVER mention, but you won't know what they are until you mention one. (Hint: Low Carb, Calories In/Calories Out, Low Fat, Sugar,…

It'd be great. And we COULD have cars that run on water. But where's the revenue in that?

I'd be like "sorry guys, I'd LOVE to come, but I have the flu. I feel terrible. Honestly I couldn't think of anything worse. My brother in law and his wife are vegan. Miserable, thin, pasty, yoga loving people they are. Every single family gathering is all about how they don't eat meat. They look down on everyone who does,…

Having parented 4 teenagers, 3 of them girls, and 2 who have done the "no meat or animal products because I'm socially concious and it's cruel" thing I found it to be a way for them to express their independance, exert some control over what has previously been out of their control (what food goes on the table) and they're…

What are you talking about, she doesn't live with her mum, how does that make her young? I go help my Dad with gardening and I'm 40.

I got 30kg you can have. :)

Oh, and people who talk about their workouts. Geez. Who cares. My workout consists of mowing the lawn, washing the cars, riding my horse, hanging out washing, vaccuuming etc. Do people really want to hear about it? "Oh yeah, yesterday I vaccuumed the WHOLE house, beat my personal best time, got a real burn going doing the…

Why is a co-workers health more important to you than plans you've made? Their health is their responsibility surely? If you were going to the gym/walking/whatever anyway and offered that they could come, then no harm done if they don't, you just continue doing what you were going to do anyway.

There's your problem. Committing to something is not mood dependant. It's a committment, no matter WHAT your mood is like. I know about stress, I have a full time job, 4 teenagers (one with a baby) and my partner's crazy ex making our lives miserable. But I haven't had a day in 5 months where I haven't stuck to the plan.…

I still can't answer that question. Saturday I was so happy I was under 100kg for the first time in 10 years. It took about 3 weeks to get from 101kg to 99.5kg. Since then the scales have crept back up a little each day. Today sitting at 100.9kg. I've been under calories, not bloated, not that time of the month, no other…

Lol which part? The scientific studies? The people who have reduced their inflammation by changing their diet? Or my own experience? Idiot ... do some research. I would never tell anyone not to eat sugar, put whatever you like in your body, but don't tell people it's not harmful, when all other evidence points to the…
-
I disagree, it's quite probably sugar, and more so wheat that's contributing to your joint pain. Why? There are many many studies showing that grains can cause auto-immune and inflammatory problems. I'm no scientist, but I am a member of a FB group with 10,000 plus members and have read many many instances of reducing…

Lolwut? According to the Calories In Calories Out crowd, every food on the planet will help you lose weight, so eat whatever you want. It's only how much you eat that matters.
-
No worries. There are some hard core low carbers (like me, under 20g a day) but there are alot who eat more. It's a good group for ideas and motivation, lots of food posted, and lots of pics of people who've managed to lose a lot of weight and get their health under control. Even many people who've managed to get off of…

Low fat diet is what's made us all fat and given us all of these health problems. There's also a LCHF - Low Carb High Fat facebook group, very large and very active.

I don't eat ANY oatmeal. And I'm overweight. Must be why I'm losing weight and YOU'RE NOT. BAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA :)

I have a desk job. I also drive an hour each way to and from work. And sit on the couch and watch TV with my other half most nights. Doesn't seem to be a huge issue, we go for walks, I clean the house, I ride my horse, we are pretty active on the weekends mowing the lawn and washing cars and stuff. I'd say I'm fairly fit.…

Lol ... right. You have snapped back a smart *kitten* defensive comment at everyone who offered you suggestions, long before I commented on your post. Not one thing I have "spouted" is "total BS" just what I have learned over the last 20 years. Some people can lose weight eating cr@p. Some can't. I can't lose an ounce on…

You, sir, are a rude man, and should apologise to everyone who's time you've wasted. Oh, and an absolute legend for doing all that exercise, good on you. Your mother didn't bring you up right if you think that insults and name calling are an appropriate response to people who are offering you help. Kharma is a *kitten*…

Yes, your diary shows you as having 10oz of wine a day. That's damn near half a bottle. Alcohol EVERY day will stall weightloss. A calorie is not a calorie. 20 years of trying to lose weight has taught me that. Once I learned that lesson I've dropped 53lbs. Your carbs are very high, your fat and protein are too low. Your…
-
You ask people where you're going wrong then get defensive when they offer suggestions. You know what I think? The half a bottle of wine a day and the pretzels and nuts are probably to blame. Your diet overall looks pretty rubbish to be honest, especially if you're as active as you say. Try eating a fair bit more protein…

No reason a healthy person should have to give up coffee. Coffee is not "aweful", or bad for you. Cultures all over the world have been drinking it for thousands of years with no harm done. Same with red wine. Obviously too much of either is not ideal, but in and of themselves they're fine. I feel like I've given up so…

For 15 years I did the full time (office hours) job, full time mum, full time study, and full time horses (14 horses at one point, average 3 to 4), shows and riding. It's doable, and I'd consider myself a pretty lazy person. Secret is to make a week's worth of lunches on Sunday and fridge/freezer them.

For all of you hating on him and calling him selfish and arrogant and conceited for going to the gym and talking about going to the gym, you seem to have missed the very first line of his post. He was like this before they got married. And she married him, therefore the only problem she has is her own inability to succeed.…

Agreed, I'm here to kill time until 4pm and I can go home.

For starters, while exercise is good for fitness and toning, weight loss is 80% what you stick in your mouth. Work out how many calories you SHOULD be consuming, record your food accurately for a month (every single thing you eat, including weighing quantities) and then see if it's "not working".
-
The Apple Pie one had about 7g of net carbs, still too high when you're aiming for 20g a day.

Thanks Jen <3 I grew up on a farm, and I've played CoD, I can shoot :)

Original poster is clearly into the gym, which is fine. You should hear me talk about my horse riding. Nothing wrong with being passionate about what you do, even if it's boring to others. It's incredibly hard when a partner projects their failing onto you. Same thing as when I lose weight and my mother makes b!tchy…
