One of my biggest regrets is that I don't have any fat photos. I've lost 60lbs but I can't see it in the mirror, and I have nothing to compare it to. It would be really nice to have that comparison, just as a reminder of how far I've come.

You need some kind of fibre, but it doesn't have to be from digestible carbs. I make "bread" all the time with psyllium husk and almond meal which has virtually no carbs but off the charts fibre.

You might find 10% carbs a bit high for Keto, especially initially (first few weeks). Most people try to aim for around 20g a day (about 5%). I've been Keto for 6 months and lost 60lbs, my macros are 1700 cals, 5% carbs, 70% fat and 25% protein. You also might find a month isn't enough. It takes a couple of weeks to get…

You really don't have a firm grasp on the science do you hun? Carbs are NOT important for muscle growth. Not even a little bit. Protein is important. If you want to put on muscle eat protein and good fats and lift weights. And unless you are eating low carb there's really not much point in doing the whole carbs minus fibre…

Probably should have posted this in the Chit-Chat, Fun, and Games section and called it "Would you share your Jawbone UP24 with the Person Above" ... right? Would have had 17.5K replies by now.

I have no idea what the question means, but a higher percentage of protein and fat will keep you satisfied for longer and make you less hungry.

Cardio burns fat? Lol.

Not trying to tell you to do one thing or the other, but I've been there. My weight has gone up and down over a period of 20 years. I've posted this before but if it helps, great. I've been trying to cut calories, eat low fat, control my portions of food (including carbs). I'd be fine all day, and then bam. Food completely…

Honey, go to a counsellor. 5lbs is not the end of the world, trust me. I can vary that much from week to week because of fluid. You need some healthy tactics to deal with what's going on in your head. Take a breath, go for a walk. Throw all of the crap out of your house and fill the fridge with carrot sticks and other…

Actually, you're sort of right, well done. However all calories are not created equal, and all macros are not treated the same by your body. Too many carbs causes your body to resond with insulin, and store fat. Low carb has the opposite effect. Which is why people can struggle to lose weight on 1200 cals of a low fat high…

Update - I'm not doing so well with the tracking, I've still put a few things in my diary but mostly to keep tabs on the carb content. I've stayed off the scales for two mornings though, an achievement for me as it's part of my morning routine. Toilet, weigh (naked), then shower. But I'm finding the day to day up and down…

You wouldn't want to lose any more weight in my opinion. You're already at the bottom end of healthy, and you are quite thin to look at. I think you really need to seek counselling first, and weight training second, if you still think you're fat.

I beg to differ ... feel free to move along.

We have a 15yo in our house who does the whole "I'm not eating I don't want to be fat" thing. Picks at her dinner, carrys on over food that's cooked (Usually a healthy meat and vegetable variant). Demands we buy her all kinds of fruit (which goes rotten in the fridge because she doesn't touch it). And yet her bedroom is…

60lbs down in 6 months here. I eat low carb high fat, or Keto. There are a few groups on here, and a facebook group called LCHF - Low Carb High Fat which is world wide and a good place to ask questions and find recipes without being badgered by the CICO crowd.

Mine didn't look "sad" as you put it last night with a beef patty, bacon, cheese, lettuce and mayo on it. The picture I linked was todays lunch, where it's about convenience and time, not how pretty it looks.

My one week challenge this week is to NOT track anything or hop on the scales for a whole week. I eat low carb, and as long as I stick to less than 20g carbs a day I SHOULD lose weight. I don't need to track to do this, I know how many carbs are in the foods I eat. I need to stop obsessing the calories. It's been 6 months…

I don't think my way is the only way, and I think everyone should do what works. But that "study" ... really? That's not really science. The people who crash dieted lost more weight than the people who didn't ... well duh. They all put their weight back on when they went back to their old habits ... double duh. Fact is, it…

I eat 1700 to 1800 calories a day and lose weight. Low carb, plenty of protein, good fats. There's no "program" out there that is going to make you shed kg fast. Basically if you can't go below 1800 cals a day, you can't use any meal replacement rubbish because the way they work is to reduce your calorie intake to very…

Shai, short for Shaiyanna, which is a) my gaming name and b) the name of a much loved horse who died tragically about 15 years ago.

5% Carbs, 30% Protein, 65% Fat. Although most on here will tell you "Iaghari, love, it doesn't matter what you stick in your mouth, your macros could be 40% Cookies 40% MacDonalds and 20% Pizza as long as you're under your calorie limit your results will be the same". Don't listen to them, they're full of it. Current…

Hi Matthew. You can add me if you want. I'm an opinionated Aussie. I do promise to be supportive and not shove my single minded theories down your throat though. I've lost 60lbs this year, do what works for you I say.

It never ceases to amaze me the rubbish sprouted on here. Eat as many carbs as you want. Really. You people crack me up ... but I do feel sorry for the people who come here for advice and think you know what you're on about.

Followers? Are you Jesus? :P

IO It's also possible to be big, and fit (enough). I am. I can go all day. I would say I'm a fair bit fitter than some of my "thin" friends. It's perfectly feasable to lose weight and remain the same fitness you were when you were bigger.

I don['t think it's offensive. When I used to shop in the Plus Size clothing section, I always thought of it as the "fat chick" clothes in my head. Because, lets face it, they were clothes for fat chicks, and I was one of them. People are too damn sensitive. Why do we have to use nice flowery words for things all the time.…

Isn't it like cracking your knuckles? This ... Escaping gases: Scientists explain that synovial fluid present in your joints acts as a lubricant. The fluid contains the gases oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide. When you pop or crack a joint, you stretch the joint capsule. Gas is rapidly released, which forms bubbles. In…

I've lost 60lbs in 6 months. I don't do anything really. I have a desk job, I'd be lucky to do 1000 steps most days. I ride my horse on the weekend for a couple of hours. I do 2 flights of stairs morning and night at work. My fitness is not bad, my muscle tone is fine. It really is all about what you stick in your mouth,…
