Stupid not present childhood sammiches...

195lbs at 6'3 and eating 1,500 cals? Duuuude. You must feel like crap. I think your issue, at it's heart, may be something a bit deeper. I might be off base but read this: What is Former Fat Boy Syndrome?

What a terrific piece of writing. Thanks for linking it. I got a little choked up reading it I must admit. Although my parents never claimed benefits to my knowledge (though I'm sure they would have been eligible for them) our financial state during my childhood was challenging to say the least. Despite this my memories of…

@Alatariel75 Fascinating and terrifying in equal parts! To take this further I'm squeamish about the the thought of willingly replacing healthy parts of the body, or all of it, but there is a compelling argument to say this will become commonplace in the future. It will start with the best of intentions in the medical…

Pointless and paternalistic.

It's funny you should mention this. I have an interest in transhumanism (the technological modification of the human body) and when the technology gets more stable can see something like this coming into existence. Some people have already had themselves chipped. For the time being though I might just settle for the next…

No, it sounds reasonable. Try it for a month and then tweak according to results. Edit: I should really read the whole thread. I expect you will experience a steady rate of loss on 3,790 cals per day but given your high starting weight a more dramatic deficit where you eat at 2,000 - 2,500 cals per day would also work (the…

My excuse is I'm rich. Who needs delts when you have doooooollars. (Kidding, I'm just lazy like other people.)

I wouldn't consider it discriminatory personally but I don't feel the two situations are analogous. Currently rides aren't specifically designed (to my knowledge) with the intention to exclude a class or classes of people. Rather the physical reality and constraints involved in making a ride safe make the exclusion an…

Not really. I would just try and get back on track as soon as possible. Consistency is the path to success rather than requiring perfection. By way of an analogy if you had bad day at work where you messed up a little would you say "Well that's it. Better call it quits then and not show up for work tomorrow!" Just keep…

Then her opinion has little to no value then as it is not based on any meaningful evidence. Train your dog to wee on her leg and revenge will be sweet indeed ;)

Presuming that the value of the entrance fee relates solely to the number of rides a person can experience rather than entrance to the other things the park has to offer as well. I think that would be difficult to substantiate in any meaningful sense. Might be good as PR stunt though.
-
Informed overweight / obese consumers voting with their wallets after deciding that the restrictions cause the entrance fee to be uneconomic and not going? Given the spate of serious accidents which have happened with theme parks recently it's not surprising that companies want to limit their exposure to accidents…

I think this is spot on. I think allowing yourself to slip into a victimhood mentality can be profoundly counter productive to success (even though life can be dreadfully unfair.) It takes away agency and makes the person an object that is acted upon based on forces outside their control leading to inaction rather than the…

Seems fine to me. I wonder what would happen if we applied the same standards to children? "Hey there, you kid, stop running, jumping and climbing. Too much cardio I tell you! It's bad for your health.*" *Said no one ever Edited: But make sure to clear it with your Doctor though...
-
How hard are you going? In other words when you are exercising is your breathing heavy and laboured or could you maintain a conversation while doing it? Cardio tends to get more "enjoyable" once you get a base level of conditioning and then build in a sensible fashion from there (unless you get a kick out of the pain which…

You're not doing anything wrong. It's mostly genetic and barring surgery there's nothing you can do about it. Blame your parents and learn to love what nature gave you.
-
For real. Also, you are making this waaaaaay too complicated. I get that you want the weight off as soon as possible given how it makes you feel about yourself. However, the history you outlined in your opening post shows why an "all-or-nothing / go hard or go home" extreme approach is a bad fit for you (and may other…

They can be hilarious though.

Maybe on some level you you are assessing the continued effort and sacrifice it will take to reach goal weight and when you compare it to the reward of attaining goal weight you believe it isn't worth it. That doesn't sound dysfunctional. That sound rationale. The benefit should justify the cost etc. Only you can truly…
-
The only person responsible for your weight gain is you. Therefore the only person who has control over your weight loss is you. Which is kind of cool as your ex is irrelevant to this scenario. The only power he has is that which you decide to give him. So forget that dimwit and decide on a solid and reasonable plan which…

Well clearly. Men are not a homogeneous group sharing a single viewpoint and neither are women. People can and do approach their relationships as they see fit as expressed above. Unless the argument is that this a male traits thing v a female traits thing. Which would be a bit silly.
-
Fair enough. My perception of the sentiment behind the post was a person should keep making an effort to the best of their ability as their relationship progresses which I agree with.
-
Maybe I have a realllly thick skin but I don't find this sentiment objectionable or insulting at all. I was in reasonable shape when I got married. If I then thought "well, I've bagged this chick for life so I don't see the need to keep trying anymore, bring on the pies!" that would be pretty disrespectful to my wife. Of…

You should listen to this. It's not eating at night which is the issue. It's that many people tend to over eat at night which cause them to consume more calories than their body needs to maintain itself on a consistent basis - which leads to weight gain.

For some reason the title of this thread reminds me of this Morrissey song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6g0gDrCUi8

Yes, but women can have multiple orgas.... Let's leave that there and say that life isn't fair, swings and roundabouts and you do you etc.
