I just ordered it too. I need all the help i can get in swimming.

Drinking lots of water also helps for muscle recovery.

I used to run in expensive saucony's with cushioning and found I was getting pain in legs/feet/back. I know I was heel striking which was probably causing it. Then I looked up Chi Running and Evolution running and found that a mid foot strike was the way to go. Getting a pair of minimalist shoes (Saucony Hattori) has…

The main thing is to get in and do a couple of open water swims before your triathlon. Work on your sighting in the pool as well as your open water training swims. Keep calm. Remember when you start off not to rush it. I find myself sometimes caught up in the excitement and go out too fast which can cause my chest to…

LOL! I'm glad I'm not the only one that ends up zig zagging the swim course!

Congratulations on your race!

Yep! 47 and I'm fabulous! :glasses:

Elastic laces or lock laces are a great idea as mentioned, no need for tying your shoes with these. First: Have your transition area set out properly so you put things on in order and aren't searching for them. Second: if you wear a wetsuit, when you are getting out of the water, unzip it and roll it off your arms so you…

I have this too, same reason, I couldn't pull a water bottle out and drink on a regular basis but with the straw in your face it's much more convenient.

I would have 2 water bottles on my bike and maybe put ice in them, it might all melt by the time you get to your bike though but at least the water won't be too warm. On the run I would grab 2 cups of water at each water station, one to drink and the other to pour over my head. I can't answer the thunderstorm question, it…

Random compliments are fine as long as they aren't too personal.

It's a tough choice. Especially when you want to do more than just triathlon's for it. Like Scott said the tri bike is very efficient and you will go faster and/or use less energy. However you can buy more road bike for the same value as a tri bike, road bikes are more comfortable for longer distances. I faced this…

What? Am I the only one that does this now?

47 and in the best shape of my life!

When I was looking for a bike this past year I ended up being told that women's bikes were odd numbers 51 cm bike was a woman's, even numbers 52 cm was men's. Then I found out all bike's had different bar length's, there' didn't seem to be a standard. It was crazy. The best thing to do is get properly sized and try…

Good Luck in your race! And to all racers this weekend too! I'm not racing, probably not until August. Still training hard though!

Star Trek Original series. Captain Kirk... is my favorite acting... captain... The way.... he takes forever... to get a sentence out! Also.... the way he totally.... ignored.... the prime.... directive!

The first phase of P90X requires a lot of protein as compared to carbs. If you mix a protein powder with something watch on what the carbs are with your mix. I found a protein powder at Costco called Kaizen which is really good and tasty too. Another good source is cottage cheese.

Thanks for sharing, I've been toying with the idea of doing something like this. I'll give it a try this weekend.

honored, only if it's a female!

I would say it depends on your fitness level. Can you remember how you felt the day after your last triathlon? I was in one triathlon where a guy did an Olympic, a Sprint and a Try-A-Tri all in the same day. I've also seen some people do a Sprint on the Saturday as a warm-up to an Olympic on the Sunday. It all depends on…

^^ This ^^ I went from an aluminum frame to a carbon frame this year and I notice less vibrations right away. I love it!

I see you're from Guelph. Are you doing the Guelph Lakes tri on Saturday? I'm doing the Sprint triathlon there. I've tried a lot of different things. I have a hard time of drinking a lot of water days up to a race. For a Try-a-try I don't think they're as important as longer distances but energy build up is important. For…

Thanks for sharing. I did a race in Cobourg Ontario that had big hills on the bike course. I know what you mean, thankfully the run was flat though. I have my first race this season blogged here. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/CanuckFit/view/woodstock-sprint-triathlon-26-may-266817
