  • Great story! I love what the doctor said to you. Congratulations on your success!
  • A great site is www.beginnertriathlete.com to answer some of your questions. There's nothing wrong with hybrid or mountain bikes for triathlons. I've seen hundreds of people use them in all the tri's I've done. As well as all kinds of different swimming apparel from wetsuits to tri suits to bathing suits in the water.…
  • Personally I would say it depends on what your goals are for triathlons. Are you doing them to have fun or doing them to race and do really well. If it's just for fun then lifting weights isn't that much of a problem. If you are doing triathlons to race and do well then I think that the energy I have should be better used…
  • I came to see what games I've missed playing... not a lot. How about Leisure Suit Larry or Pong
  • I try to schedule one rest day per week. But a rest day for me might still entail doing an ab/core exercise (20-30 minutes max). It depends how I feel, sometimes it is a total rest day and I'll do the ab/core workout the following day with another workout.
  • Congratulations on your race! If you do personal bests in each race then you've had a great race! For next year I would suggest to try and keep with swimming. At least once a week, more if you can as it's a great workout! Other than that the running Couch to 5k is a great way to improve your running. I've personally just…
  • ^^ this - great advice! You'll be even faster on race day than you have been in training because it is a race and your adrenaline will be going. Don't worry about it and keep to your schedule. You'll do great!
  • Congratulations on your first race of many more to come!

  • Congratulations on completing! IRONMAN! :drinker: What an awesome accomplishment and great story!
  • Once my season ends on September 8th I'll definitely be going without the 2 a day workouts until January. Probably run 2 times a week. Spin class once a week. Swimming 2-3 times a week. Weight training probably 3 times a week. That looks like there might be a couple of double workout days LOL. If I don't run I'll do some…
  • I'm always willing to share my training. I'll send a friend request.
  • That's awesome! WTG!
  • This book is great to understanding the proper swim stroke. Swim Speed Secrets for Swimmers and Triathletes: Master the Freestyle Technique Used by the World's Fastest Swimmers
  • Congratulations! It sounds like you had a great race!
  • Third Triathlon of the season recap done. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/CanuckFit/view/niagara-triathlon-12-aug-12-409949
  • If it won't let you update it's probably a calculated field and locked. Look at the formula in it to see where it's getting it's value and see what you haven't filled in yet.
  • I would say yes. It gives you a nice workout where you can put it all together and see where you need to improve.
  • I've never done a Triathlon from a pool but from what I've seen a lot of females that do tri's in a bathing suit just throw shorts and shirt over top of their swim suit. Usually quick drying clothes are the best as they'll dry pretty quick on the bike. Transition set up for me is 1. There is usually racks for bikes so for…
  • It just takes time and confidence. Keep at it!
  • I have Look Keo pedals and have no trouble most times. The odd occasion I get a brain cramp and forget to twist my foot to get out of them. :) If I was going to look at another set of pedals I would consider Speedplay.
  • I'm all for Simon as well! I met him when I received an age group series award from MSC a couple of years ago. He's really funny and down to earth.
  • I agree it is person dependent and is a strength to weight ratio. I do strength training 2 or 3 times a week and have noticed that it has helped in my training. My theory is that if I'm just doing swimming, biking and running that I'm only working the same muscles over and over again. My strength training I never do the…
  • If it's an open water swim make sure to do a swim or 2 in open waters. It's a lot different than a pool. Bricks and transition practices are excellent ideas. Also if you are wearing a wetsuit practice taking it off and use a lubricant on your skin like body glide to help slip it off.
  • I do it because I want to be remembered for my brain and this is the closest you can get to see it.
  • Thanks for the information on the book. I looked it up and it had a lot of good reviews so I ended up ordering it to keep in my own library. Now if I just had the time to read everything.
  • Waterloo Ontario
  • My plan changes all the time due to schedule but I try to do 3 runs per week. 1 is a run that is about the same distance plus 1km as what I will be running in the race so I can see where my time is. 2nd run is either Fartlek or Hill training. 3rd run is distance run. If I don't do the distance run it's a run that's built…
  • Hi, and welcome. You've found the right group. There's a lot of experience from everyone one here so feel free to ask away. Good luck in your training and your race.
  • I think guys just don't ask for friend requests as much as women. Unless there's a certain group of individuals that have something in common that you find in discussion groups. Example I follow the triathlete group discussions. But I don't care the sex of my friends as long as everyone is supportive, which they are. :)
