I really like vitacost men's opti vitamin. I take one with each meal.

uhm, because 115 is about the right weight for your height?!?! instead of focusing on your (scale) weight, maybe you'd see more positive results from a bit of strength training.

If it makes you feel any better, I've figured out that my sustainable jogging pace is about 5.2 mph. At least it's faster than the 4.2 mph I can sustain walking. Gotta start somewhere...

Absolutely. My rate of fat loss increased significantly after I started doing just a few minutes of strength training a day. No need for weight, or to go to a gym. You can do plenty of body weight exercises that will help to maintain, or possibly, build muscle while you're running a deficit to lose fat. Just make sure…

I just wanted a way to calculate and track calories. I tried a couple of different apps and MFP was the first one that did what I needed. I've since looked at a couple of other apps/sites, and MFP is still the best overall. The forums are really nice, too, because there are a number of informed and helpful posters who are…

Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia. Nah, I'm full of sh*bleep*. I totally read the label on both pints the whole while I was emptying them. edit: In all seriousness, I was appalled to see the caloric values of some stuff at Chilis shortly after I started paying attention to what I was putting in my face.

it's probably better to just work out again.

I had a piece of guitar wire in my sock today, and it stuck into my big toe. As bad as that experience was, I'm thankful that it ended up in my sock.

All silliness aside, I'd be happy to spend a few minutes a day keeping someone on a right track to health(y|ier) living. I'm truly grateful I stumbled upon myfitnesspal. The community here has done a magnificent job of creating a welcoming environment for persons new to living a healthier life and I'd be glad to contribute…

they're really not that good. I only bought them out of a terrible habitual behaviour of mine. Old habits die hard...and then they're tossed in the bin. Thinking about the experience of it turned out to be better than the actual experience of it.

don't forget about the coconut shavings! that's the only heatlht part of the whole glorious mess!

roasted chickpeas - 28g, a sizable handful, provides 5g of complete protein, 5g of fiber, 2g fat, 12g net carbs, and 102 cals. It's an awesomely balanced snack that won't throw macros out of whack. if you make them yourself, you can season them a bunch of different ways. If you need fat, nuts are amazing; particularly…

I injured my achilles a couple of months back and it took three weeks before I could walk on it without some pain. Mine only hurt when walking on it, so I moved minimally and gingerly for that three weeks. I'm able to walk on it now without issue, but I have to run very carefully or I can feel that pain creeping back in;…

This is an issue I've been researching when I get bored. As far as I know, the vast majority of all (types of) protein are decomposed into amino acids within 7-8 hours of ingestion. From there, I'm not quite sure how long any excess amino acids are available for use before they are deaminated (destroyed) and no longer…

Basically, there are nine essential amino acids (EAAs) that you must get as part of your daily protein intake. Most meats and dairy are "complete" proteins, meaning that they provide sufficient levels of all nine EAAs. For example, scroll down to the "protein quality" section of this page:…

4 pull-ups, 7 chin-ups yesterday, but today I could only do 2 pull-ups and 6 chin-ups. A month ago, I couldn't come close to doing a pull-up and could barely complete 2 chin-ups with some leg kicking to help me along. My immediate goal is 10 pull-ups and 15 chin-ups.

Software developer checking in. 15 years of 12+ hours a day at the computer did my physical health no favors, so I'm currently hacking my body to hopefully get rid of a few bugs!

I'm guessing some amount of lean muscle would be eliminated on a juice-only diet. :ohwell:

Around 13-14, but it wasn't noticeable until I started getting visible results from strength training. Two weeks of push-ups, pull-ups, chin-ups and chair dips had a drastic effect on my whole upper body, which made the fat loss around my waist much more obvious. I still get comments about my posture being different...it…

I averaged 1470 calories (1260 net) for three months and lost ~18 lbs of fat and gained ~2 lbs of FFM (fat-free mass). That's about a 700 calorie deficit every day. I did a fair amount of walking (30-45 minutes a day when possible) and strength training to make sure I didn't lose any FFM, and I was very mindful of getting…

Yup. Random sets of bodyweight exercises while lazing around the house today: chin-ups, pull-ups, push-ups, chair dips, planks, squats, lunges.

Try a nice herbal tea when you get a craving for something. I'm a big fan of the Traditional Medicinals Chamomile & Lavender, and Easy Now. As a bonus, they're legitimately relaxing so sleep comes a bit more easily. A couple of stalks of celery makes an almost calorie-free snack. Especially nice with a little freshly…
