This topic has reminded me of an article I read which talks about how best to motivate children: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-13128701 The essence of the article is that "Praising children's intelligence harms motivation and it harms performance." It's better to praise the child for effort than to tell them they're…

The crazy thing is that this is supposed to 'help' them, but it leaves them totally unprepared for real life. They spend their school years constantly being told that they're great, amazing, unique etc and then they enter the world of work with a massively overdeveloped ego and often a correspondingly massive…

If you still have any spend 20 minutes dressing in your 90lbs heavier clothes. I did that a while ago and putting both legs down one trouser leg was really helpful in helping my brain to catch up. Congrats on the loss BTW. :flowerforyou:

I enjoy Highland Park and prefer the 12 over the 18 which is nice on the cost front. For a more intense flavour Laphroaig is amazing. If you prefer your whiskey smooth and without the peat then you can't go wrong with any bottle which says The Macallan' on the label. The great thing about whisky is the variety. We…

well done! I've only been running since the beginning of the year, but I love how easy it is to get ready and get out.

I work from home pretty regularly. You need to behave like you're in the office. Have an office area, go into it and don't leave it. You are allowed to go to the loo, make a cup of coffee and have a lunch break - that's it! And no snacking while you're making the coffee either! If snacking is an issue, keep some healthy…

170g greek yoghurt, 30g fruit 'n' fibre, 70g fresh blueberries all mixed together with a swirl of honey on top. Yum!
-
That is so out of order! What exactly were you supposed to do with that information? Amputate your legs?
-
You might want to move on to something like 6 week 6 pack or Ripped in 30 - these are probably the natural progression from 30DS.

I've got a 20 minute interval run scheduled and then I'm going to do some strength stuff.

I've never felt short before, but here I am surrounded by people with longer legs than mine!

I used to eat quite a lot of bread too. I now use Warburton's thins when I want a sandwich. I find they satisfy the desire for bread, but they're low cal enough that I can work it into my daily allowance quite easily. I buy a pack of 6, split it down and put it in the freezer. If I'm planning on having a sandwich any day I…

There's nothing to be nervous about - most of the people here are lovely! there's some great advice in this thread already - take it slow; expect it to take a while; don't let bad days derail you - you're human, you will mess up occasionally!

When you've got a lot to lose you can afford to be more aggressive with your diet. When I started I was allowed about 1600 a day and I lost 2lbs a week. As I got closer to goal losing 2lbs a week became very difficult - MFP was recommending 1200 cals a day and I was not happy restricting myself that much. I upped my…

I'm sorry I can only friend you if you send me chocolate.

Try to find something to distract you when you're walking. Listen to music or even better a podcast. If' you're thinking about what they're saying you're not thinking about how sore your legs are!

I second this. Quick and tasty. If I'm having it at home I'll add 20g of fruit 'n' fibre and to really push the boat out a swirl of honey as well. Still only 250ish cals.

I'm 6' and now 186. I've lost just under 92lbs since Jan 2011 and I probably have another 10-20lbs to go. I'm not sure yet as I've never been this size before so it's a voyage of discovery. I've developed a whole new lifestyle over the last 15 months - deciding to be fit and healthy, not just "not fat".

Why is the choice 6oz with bun or 12oz without? 12oz is A LOT of meat! Wouldn't you feel satisfied by a 6oz without the bun?

Shoes: Asics GT2170 Socks: cheapo wicking pair from www.decathlon.com Legs: Skins compression tights (these are amazing) Torso: Nike dri-fit running top and either Nike Element Shield Max jacket or Pearl Izumi cycling jacket Head: running beanie and lucky baseball cap if running; helmet if cycling Hands: The North Face…

Do it. It's horrible. I loved it.

ahoy hoy! Greetings from Glasgow! You've got the right idea. Keep it simple. Eat right, get some exercise, live longer and happier.

Well, if petting a cat reduces stress then it will also reduce your heart rate, which will reduce the No of calories you are burning at that time. By that rationale there should be an exercise entry for "petting cat" which subtracts the number of calories you *haven't* burned as a result of being so relaxed. No wonder I…

I was buying a box of Complan for my mum today. According to the box it's "Available in Original, Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Banana & Chicken" I bet the Banana & Chicken variety is delightful.

FYI, Next do a tall range online and they're a 35" leg which is perfect for me. I'm 6'.

You'd probably be better driving to work with your clothes for the week on the Monday and leaving them there. Don't know if that's doable for you. If you're putting suit trousers in a rucksack lay them out like you're about to iron them and then roll them loosely from the bottom to the top. Put them at the top of the…

either run barefoot (it's fashionable now!) or go for minimal shoes like Vibrams.

Padded shorts are the solution to your 'pain problem'. You need to adjust the seat so your leg is straight when your heel is on the pedal. When you put the ball of your foot on the pedal your knee should be slightly bent. If you do a search on You Tube you should be able to find some videos explaining how to set up the…

In honour of this story I had EXTRA bacon for breakfast!

One step at a time. You don't need a 'diet', you need to switch to a healthy lifestyle. If you start eating now the way the 100kg version of you eats then you'll gradually lose weight until you weigh 100kg. No shakes, no supplements, no appetite supressants required; you just need healthy food in reasonable portion sizes.…
