I just finished week 6 day 3 today. I'm doing the nhs one which you can get from here or directly from itunes. http://www.nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/couch-5K-running-plan.aspx My top tips: 1. get decent shoes - my niggly knee problem disappeared completely when I did 2. don't go too fast 3. keep your head up and look where you're…

I'm currently enjoying David Guetta "the best of" album and also Jessie J "Domino" and Rizzle Kicks "Mama Do the Hump"

You paid £1.65 for a litre of fuel? Was it jet fuel? Where on earth was that?
-
that's for a UK gallon. the US gallon is smaller. uk gallon = 4.546 litres us gallon = 3.785 litres I thought everything was bigger in the USA?

1 stone = 14lbs

Don't get lazy - get committed to YOU! I'll kick your backside if you like  , but ultimately this is your journey and you have to want it! Congrats on your loss so far. That's a great start!

I'd suggest checking the weight setting first. Did you accidentally enter your weight in lbs as a weight in kg?

I filled up with diesel a couple of days ago - 50 litres (13.2 US gallons) for £70 ($108). $8.26 for a US gallon. £1.389 per litre. I'll have to fill up again before the end of the week - I live 54 miles from my work. Fuel prices suck!

I added regular walks to my workout schedule early and I think they really helped me build up a core fitness level that I was able to build on. Like you, I didn't have the stamina to run, but I'm running now through Couch to 5K. http://www.nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/couch-5K-running-plan.aspx The thing I like about running is how…

That is LEGEN - (wait for it and I hope you're not lactose intolerant) - DARY!!

If I had a time machine I'd go back to when I started and convince myself to take a picture a day all the way through my weight loss journey. I really regret the lack of 'before' pics, although it has been pointed out to me that I can take 'before' pics anytime since I'm not done yet.

There's a ParkRun in my local park too but I'm leaving that one until after I complete c25k or until I'm running 5k continuously, whichever comes soonest. When I decided to do a Tri I hadn't run since secondary school, hadn't ridden a bike for more than 5 minutes in over 25 years and hadn't been swimming for yonks either.…

That sounds like a stretch if you don't run at all at the moment other than as part of other sports like football. I decided to do a TRI some time this year as well, probably late on. I'm really not a runner either so I started c25k and I'm on week 6 now - I'm doing a 5k in Bellahouston Park on 1st April and I hope to do…

Are you sure you'll be able to see your abs? 165kg is 26 stone or thereabouts! 165lbs?
-
I've just completed W6D1. My understanding is that the best idea is to concentrate on learning how to be able to run for the set time and not to worry about speed. I agree with schmidtka70 - slow it down until you are able to do the 25minutes. The speed will come later.
-
I don't disagree - you'll have a blast I'm sure. I'm aiming to do this one on 16th Sept. http://humanrace.co.uk/events/triathlon/hsbc-triathlon I've picked that one to give myself the whole summer to get ready.

Ha! That looks insane!

I know you can get Moving Comfort sports underwear (they make sports bras too). I'm sure other manufacturers do it too.

Pics, Pics Pics!!!

Did a 10 minute mile during couch to 5k! :drinker:

You've got his number for a reason. Use it. (sorry, you asked for a male opinion )

The last time a colleague said "you can't eat that" to me I just laughed and replied "Yes, I can. I can eat whatever I like. And where were you 80+ lbs ago when it might actually have been helpful if someone had told me to step away from the cake?"

I'd suggest you go to a proper running shop and get them to analyse your gait and help you find the right shoe for you. I found a significant difference in comfort and feel in the different shoes I tried, even though they were all made to deal with the same issue.

I started couch to 5K 2 weeks ago and got myself fitted for a pair of running shoes at the weekend. Apparently my right foot has normal pronation but I overpronate with my left foot. After trying a fair few pairs from different manufacturers I've ended up with Asics GT-2170s. What a difference the right pair of shoes…

Can't you just ask him politely not to spit into the bucket beside you?

You don't have to do the shred every day. I believe JM says 5 times a week is the optimum, so you're good to go. Weights-wise, if you're planning on buying a set make sure they have flat sides - in Level 3 you have to plank while leaning on your weights and it's much easier if they don't try to roll away! You don't need a…

Hi from Glasgow! Welcome to MFP. If you have a look in groups you'll find a Scottish group (search for Tartan Trimmers) and a UK group as well.
