This. One hundred times this. Welcome to MFP Laura. You can do it. Just take it one day at a time.

Friend request sent OP. I'm happy to accept friend requests, and it's nice to see so many 40-something women out there kicking *kitten*!

you can feel your car's seatbelt buckle digging into your hip.

I use Endomondo. Using the nhs C25K podcast as the 'music' gives me everything I need - a voice in my ear telling me when to walk and when to run and a way to review each session to see how I'm doing. The only thing missing with my setup is the option to choose my own music, but I quite like the podcast anyway.

Don't do them on the floor. Do them against a chair, a flight of stairs or the wall.

Have you ever seen Blackadder on TV?

Hello from Glasgow! I've been at this now for just over a year and my sights are moving towards fitness as a goal, rather than as a way to achieve weight loss, not that I don't still have a few pounds to lose... Anyone here training for a Triathlon? I'm hoping to do one this year. Just have to find the right one. At the…

Greetings from Glasgow! Just take it one day at a time and you'll get there. :flowerforyou: For all you UK MFPers, if you want a fitness challenge to work towards and keep you training you could do worse than enter one of these... http://warriordash.com/register2012_northern_england.php 30th June 2012…

Level 2 is quite a bit tougher than L1. In fact, I think L1-L2 is a bigger step-up than L2-L3, but everyone is different. Gives you something to look forward to.

The shred is a 30-day program, split into 3 levels which are progressively more difficult. The idea is that you start on level 1, do that workout 10 times and then, if you feel ready, move up to level 2. Lather, rinse, repeat. Each workout takes less than 30 minutes. The workouts all follow the 3-2-1 system. You do a…

Once you've finished the shred there are plenty of other JM DVDs to keep you busy. I graduated to 6 week 6 pack and I'm really enjoying it. Well, as much as you can enjoy getting your butt kicked by JM anyway! Or you could just do another round of the shred!

OP, I guess the problem people are having in telling you what you want to know is that you don't really seem to have a problem. Assuming you're home by 6pm you could have a workout finished and be showered and refreshed by 7pm, giving you the rest of the evening for dinner, studying etc. What exactly is the problem? Loads…

I prefer the evening - my muscles are already warmer because I've been moving during the day and I feel I've a better chance of getting a good workout in without injury. Plus, I already have to get up at 05.30. I don't have the inclination to get up any earlier to work out.

I started on Thursday and completed W1D2 yesterday. I never thought I'd enjoy running (if what I've been doing can be classed as running  ) but I do!
-
That's a great start. The shred can be quite a challenge, but do your best each day and you'll get there. :flowerforyou:

This is so right. You will be in pain on days 2-4, pretty much guaranteed. Do not give up. Work through it and it will pass.

I made the mistake of pointing out to someone that he shouldn't have posted the content of several private messages on the forums. He went bonkers! The madder he got, the funnier it was, and the worse I made it with sarcasm, which I'm pretty sure he didn't 'get'. Thread was nuked shortly thereafter as part of the…

I'm on at 14.30.

You're right, it's an exercise DVD by Jillian Michaels, "TV's toughest trainer". She's a marmite personality. Personally I love her stuff, even when I feel like I'm going to die!!! Some folk can't stand her and could never put up with even 30 minutes. The shred is a 30-day program, split into 3 levels which are…

It really does work, and I think putting yourself out there is a great idea. We all have days when we need support, or sometimes just a kick up the ar$e!

Don't put yourself down. I'm sure your thyroid is lovely

I can understand why the assignment question is open to confusion. The text says that flexibility is a measurement - so you could have 2% or 10% or 100% flexibility. The way the assignment is written it can be read as saying that flexibility is an absolute (full range of motion). So you could interpret it as saying that…

Hi Katie, welcome. :flowerforyou: Self control is something you can develop. Start small, pick one aspect that you will control and start from there. When you get the hang of that then it's time to add something else. For me I knew I wouldn't be able to resist junk food if there was any in the house, so I controlled it by…

You got through it! Well done. I'd suggest you do some streching before bed to minimise the 'discomfort' in the morning.

I learned that I had been the subject of factory-floor discussion on this very subject. "how has she lost all that weight? She must be ill" :ohwell:
-
You could just start with walking. If you want a 'program' you could do worse than the 30 day shred...

I joined MFP 2 months into my journey and introduced myself as "fat and over 40". :frown: I'm not quite "fab and over 40" yet, but I'm getting closer and a lot of that is due to the support I've had here. It's nice to pay it forward. Nice bike BTW. Request sent.

I agree!! With bells on! I'm exactly 12 months into my new lifestyle and I am fitter, healthier and happier. I wouldn't have had any of those things if I hadn't taken the first step and got my fat backside off the couch!
