  • You might get a better response if you used "Doncaster UK" in your topic headline. It would catch the eyes of someone trolling through the boards.
  • I have the exact issue. I am looking forward to seeing all the responses here. (Maybe I can pay someone to chase me with a very large knife...)
  • Oh sweetie, I totally identify with you. I never thought someone else out there would have the same unhealthy obsession I have for chips! When I started my "Lifestyle Change" (never say diet...) I tried to make sure that nothing was forbidden. If I had the calories available and all my nutritional needs were met, I could…
  • For my salads, I drench everything in lemon juice and then dip my fork into 1 tbs. of any dressing I want. I get big flavor in every bite and don't feel deprived. Another great tip, if you like hot sauce, is to put 2 tbs. of grated parmesean cheese on your salad and then shake hot sauce on top for a "Buffalo Salad." Yum!
  • I think you just answered your question there. :D
  • Let me just say, Zumba really DOES work. It is the whole deal - cardio, toning, balance and coordination. It has everything except weight training, and there are even classes now that do use weights. I have only ever taken live classes (not from a dvd) but the workout I got from them far exceeded any time I spent on the…
  • This was awesome! I have lost 2 mid-sized microwaves...or an elephant's penis and a bald eagle.
  • I LOVE this experiment - well done for doing it and documenting it so well. I had a silimar experience where I ate about 12 pieces of candy throughout a busy day last Saturday and not only did I not feel well in the middle of the day, it spawned a series of sugar cravings that I am still not over a week later. Just last…
  • If you have a Trader Joe's in the area, try their hummus. The jalapeno-cilantro is my favorite!
  • I just copied and pasted this. Thanks for posting and I can't wait to try it!!
  • I'm on more calories than you - between 1400 and 1600, but feel free to look at my diary for any ideas. I would be pleased to answer any questions you have! Jennifer
  • Your title on this post starts off with, "Not much..." Allow me to disagree. That is HUGE!!!! Well done girl!! We all freak out about about numbers on the scale, but the reality of buttoning those jeans means so much more. That is tangible, physical proof that you are doing it - and doing it right. If I were you, I'd put…
  • I totally agree with the adding of spices. I had the same problem you did and in a moment of panic, I bought 3 or 4 jars of herbs I had never heard of. When I got home, I opened them and smelled them...and wondered what they would taste good with. Now I have all kinds of herbs and spices and although I am sure I don't use…
  • Snacks I have found helpful: Lance whole wheat crackers, 1/2 package = 90 cal String cheese = 60 cals of protein! Kellogg's Antioxidant Fiber Bar, for when I feel I simply HAVE to have a sweet 1/2 whole wheat pita and hummus Whole grain english muffin with Smucker's spreadable fruit and/or light whipped cream cheese…
  • Do you have stairs? When i need a quick calorie burn, I will do step intervals. Basically, as if I'm running up the stairs, I put my right foot on the stair and step up. After bringing up my left foot, I jump back off the stair with my right, followed by my left. I will do this 10 or 20 times and then I will swap to my…
  • Ooh, dinner idea for next week. Thanks for sharing!! Jennifer
  • Depending on the tastes of your family, you could try some or all of the following: Garlic powder Onion Powder Montreal Steak Seasoning (which is really garlic, salt and pepper) Cayenne pepper Worstershire Sauce I also like to buy meat (1/2 chuck and 1/2 sirloin) and grind it myself inthe food processor. That way I can…
  • Sending you a message rostrum...
  • Oh Holton, that would be wonderful! I live in Charlotte, North Carolina for the record... :) Jennifer
  • I knew coming here was a good idea. I am now recharged and ready to face the retail world again. (Getting my list of stores ready...) Thanks so much all!! Jennifer (Ps - MWF looking for good tailor. Will trade for work out tips and healthy recipes. Will also do jumping jacks upon request...)
  • I exercised faithfully for two years - really hard too, and I never lost any weight. I was fitter, I had more muscle, I was sleeping better, but the scale would not budge. I was ready to give up when I finally attended a nutrition class. Aha! I had been eating all the calories I was burning in the gym! I started a food…
  • Right now, I am between a 14 and a 16. (I thought I was a snug 16 until I tried on dresses this weekend and the 16's were a bit baggy!! ) Right now, I weigh 189lbs. I lost weight 5 years ago, and at 189, I was a comfortable 14. I must be storing more in my hips and butt than I did last time. Hope this helps...
  • I love to order fajitas. That way, I can totally control how much protein, carbs and veggies I eat. Sometimes, I even order an extra "side" of peppers and onions, just for good measure. I avoid the chips as much as possible, but I order jalapenos and a side of limes for extra flavor for no calories. Good luck!!
  • Wow - that was SO inspiring!! It doesn't hurt that we started out at almost exactly the same weight (I was 253) and have both been on almost the same journey. I am on month 8 and am now at 189 lbs. Girl, if we had known, we could have gone over all these new things together. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful…
  • I too used to struggle with getting my butt out to exercise. It was all too easy to have all the right excuses and then I'd find myself at the end of the week, not having done anything. I don't know if this will work for anyone else, but I finally just told myself to, "SHUT UP AND GO EXERCISE." Anytime an excuse would come…
  • This is a good link to get started on portion sizes: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/portion-control/NU00267 I had been working out for two years and only saw about a 10 lb. weight loss. Then I zeroed into portion control and I have dropped 38 pounds in six months! It made all the difference. I also like following the…
  • Grats, grats, GRATS!!! 20 pounds is such an achievement and you are so right to celebrate it! Enjoy your happy dances and spend some quality time in a store looking at all those "skinny" clothes that fit you now. You are a superstar!! Jennifer
  • My husband was making fun of me just the other day because I was shaking a carrot stick at him. I told him to behave, or I'd start ordering corn-on-the-cob!
  • If the bar I'm at has chicken wings, I will order sides of carrot sticks and celery with blue cheese. I barely use 1/2 a serving of dressing (under 100 calories) and I love the crunch of the veggies. Plus, they are great to gesture with!
  • Go to Add Exercise and do a search for "Rope jumping". You'll find three speeds: fast, moderate and slow. It says that the slow burns 185 calories for 15 minutes. I doubt it is really that much, so I usually put in less time than I actually jumped. BTW, after three days of making sure I got in at least 1 - 15 minute…
