I ran Tupelo 14.2M on Sept. 6 and have a few races (25K's and a half marathon) in Oct., a half marathon in Nov. I didn't post about Tupelo, which was my first race since everything started cancelling in March. Then again, I didn't post about most of my 18 marathons, 50K, half marathon, and 5K I ran in the 12 months before…

Good news from Eli Lilly on its antibody development, but I'm being cautious. Even 72% reduction in risk is not enough IMO. Considering we are approaching 1 million world-wide deaths in a matter of months (not years), a 72% reduction is just not enough. It is a good start, though. Ely Lilly Claims Experimental Drug…

They may be onto something... have you seen how good Canada's Covid number are compared to the U.S.?
-
Making a mid-month update... this past week wasn't good, so might not actually make my goal.
-
First step is to define your goals. Until you know where you are going, it's tough to say how to get there. Do you want to lose body fat? Do you want to run, row, or something else? Do you want to gain leg muscles?
-
Are you suggesting accountants don't pay attention to our health?! Just kidding... I understand your point.

Yes, you are absolutely right on pensions and social security. I would expect that most who have investments for retirement and are actually drawing from their retirement should have that retirement money now in conservative / low risk and low return investments. This is different than someone like me who is decades from…

Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with this thread at all (like most months). On the topic of keto adaptation... it's going to take a months and the 4-6 week time-frame is going to suck the most. Electrolyte supplementation will be key. For athletes considering a ketogenic diet, the best resource I can recommend is The Art…

This is based on a sample group if 76. It would be pretty easy to find a group of 76 healthy people who got Covid and experienced the same symptoms. A larger sample group may just as easily had some healthy people die. ETA: Unhealthy people like me may experience the same risk of severe illness as the virus.

Russian vaccine update: https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/04/health/russia-vaccine-immune-response-intl/index.html Sounds like side effects are problematic, not sure I would get this vaccine since it sounds like it is basically the same as getting the virus.

I guess I'll go ahead and add a goal and some miles - 90 mile goal. Was out running today, feeling fat and slow as ever. Anyway, some random stranger leaned out the window and shouted, "I admire you, brother!" Felt better for the rest of the run. It's the little things...

Note: I'm not advocating for a particular candidate and instead keeping this apolitical. I just sent in my request to vote by mail in the Nov. 3 election. When it is possible to do it by mail instead of going and touching the same pen as everyone else and being around people who probably aren't wearing masks, it's just…

@quilteryoyo I am not sure we have an animal control. It's a small town and the last time I reported issues with stray dogs to the PD, it was just ignored. That was actual strays / homeless, though, and not loose dogs. And that was about a year ago when they killed a woodchuck in my back yard.

Last run for Aug. today was 8.0 miles. I haven't posted most of my runs and it hasn't been a great month. This last run was especially bad because I had an old problem (runner's diarrhea). At one point, I turned back towards home and was able to keep everything together until getting the 8 miles done as planned... but did…

Mine is self-insured also with a 3rd party administrator and we only have around 10K U.S. employees.

Yes, this is true. After moving more than a year ago, I finally ended up switching to a new endocrinologist (the only one in town where I live now). He is an idiot and obviously doesn't care about the long-term health of his patients. He wants me to run high all the time, at a level that greatly increases my risk for…

That's shocking and heartbreaking. 😢

This! Potentially, one can maybe argue they need to remove their mask temporarily take each sip, but I bet they are holding a coffee mask-less without drinking it most of the time.

I'm going to wear the same uniform as always - royal blue top and navy blue pants. Good thing it works for my skin tone.

I may be different... I don't actually have any friends IRL that live close enough to see in person anyway without at least 5 hrs. drive. Mostly I stay in touch with people on social media, where I block anyone who is pig-headed and ridiculous about opposing views. I still have some friends with very different opinions,…

First time I heard of him was when he threw a tantrum after getting lost on an ultra-marathon (Moab 240, IIRC) and had to DNF. So definitely not impressed at all.

I never understood why there was such a run on TP either, but the hoarding resulted in an outage for about 7 weeks in my area. I almost ran out... if I had run out, I was planning to use paper towels (until those ran out because I couldn't get more of that either) and throw them in the trash so they wouldn't clog the…

It ended up working pretty well. The signage was a bit confusing because it had numbered spots along the front, but were labeled "Curbside Returns and Exchanges" instead of for "Curbside pickup." Then there was an arrow for "Curbside pickup" and it pointed ahead. Then it also said something about going in letting them know…
-
My plans detoured... part of my 'cleaning' was scanning some files. I'm frustrated with my scanner only working when it wants to. There is a Best Buy 1 hour drive away, so I bought a scanner and am going to pick it up with the curbside pickup option. I've never done curbside before, but how difficult could it be? As long…

It's an "add-on" certification to something I already have. I'm a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) already and this exam is Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis (CSCA).

With schools and colleges going back, I also fear new cases are going to start to skyrocket soon (within the next 3 weeks) and will not abate because too few schools and colleges are willing to take the proper actions even after infections have been reported. I'm extremely nervous because, as a type 1 diabetic, if I get…

Sounds better than my weekend. Laundry is in progress, then shopping for basics (food, pet food, cleaning materials). Hopefully will be able to get some cleaning done and should study atbsome point for the exam I take 30 days from now.
-
Even the 14 days is changing. At one time, they were requiring people who test positive to have 2 negative tests more than 24 hours apart to be considered Covid-free again. When my mom tested positive, she was told 10 days after symptoms stopped. Partly because they are trying to conserve tests, I think. The person who…

Do you have Clorox/Lysol or similar sprays? I rarely use the pre-wetted wipes at home anyway. Since paper towels came back in stock, it is not an issue to just spray on a paper towel and wipe. This is the old fashioned method that I grew up with, but some of us still do that.
