Yup. Rocky had it wrong. I eat egg whites every day, but cook them.

You don't necessarily have to use weights. There are some fantastic body exercises you can do, such as push up, sit ups, planks, and if possible chin ups. You can google to find other examples. Also you can buy some other resist type bands at your local Walmart that work well. Good Luck

As people begin their transformation, the first person to take any notice is one's self. And before anyone sees a change or mentions it, the question is always: Why are you doing it? As you progress, people close to you begin to take notice...then people you haven't seen for a while...and as you continue you get to the…

Like others, I recommend you start by walking. The rest will come. Like BigLifter, running isn't my favorite thing to do, but I do it outside, usually along the beach. Once you get reasonably good at it, your mind can drift and you don't really think about it. Having music playing also takes my mind off the boring aspect…

I vote: Do it. There are very few other sources of protein that provide as much bang for the buck. That is grams of protein at low calories. Egg whites and shrimp (without sauce) are a few of the sources I've found that get close. Have you ever compared protein bar calories vs a protein shake? Thanks but no thanks.

At my last BB comp, the day before getting on stage, my PT did a caliper BF on me, came in at 5.5%. While my scale showed 12%. Huge difference.

Sweet potatoes..their the thing.

When I'm in my cutting phase, like now. I drink lots of water. I chew gum. I also stock up on salty things with low calories, like dill pickles, kimchee, & cherry peppers. I keep lots of fresh vegs on hand like carrots, Broc, Cauliflower and snap peas. If I HAVE to binge I do it on protein snacks like chicken, turkey, whey…

Don't know lowest, but I stick to diet coke and light colored rum. I can literally drink all night (not that I normally do) and gain very little weight on this combo. Funny to see the looks the Bartender/waitress gives me...they are like..why do you need to lose weight? I tell them it's not to lose weight, instead it to…

That's how I began my journey of losing 60lbs and eventually entering Bodybuilding comps. I walked my dog (boston terrier)...first for 30 mins a day and within 6 weeks, we were up to 2 hrs a day...not all at once. It was amazing..and he looked great.

Ok this is going to sound sexist...but hop on a machine next to an attractive member of the opposite sex. It will keep you interested. Studies show that both sexes will try harder at a task if they think they are being observed by someone they are attracted to. just throwing that out there for a "different" perspective.

Agree with many on this site...go to a specialist. A general sawbones isn't knowledgeable in this area. I had fatty liver...was 60lbs overweight. Once I lost that fat..and gained muscle...it totally went away...along with high blood pressure and high tris. There is hope if you get the weight down...don't give up. Keep…

For many of us...we do have to watch what we eat so that we stay within our calorie limits...so we eat smart...trying to maximize our proteins, and stay within our fats/carb limits. Thus we do eat lots of meat and vegs. Instead of eating ice cream, why not truck down to your local health food shop and pick up a tub of…

Can't afford powders? Really...at Walmart they are like $16 dollars..and last like a month.. of course depending on how often you drink them. That's like one or two meals at a fast food place. But eggs, milk, tuna fish are some of the go to MVPs when it comes to proteins. Many Body builders live on these plus chicken…

I had a similar situation. I drank because it was fun...usually in a social setting. Guys meeting after work or going to clubs or BBQs etc. What I switch to is group activities that DONT include alcohol. So meeting guys after work to play B-Ball or R-ball, or joining a social dance club or meeting on Saturday morning to go…

I more or less follow it...and it's worked for me.

This! x2

I was @ 220ish when I was eating what I wanted with no exercise. BF% well into the 30s I last competed at 184, BF 5.5%. 2 1/2 years between.

Use to be a bagger, now a tagger. :open_mouth:

It's very normal for people when they start exercising to want to keep going, especially after seeing some good results. Many of us at any stage hate the off time...but yes, it is necessary, as you grow when you rest. Of course you can do some light stuff like walking..I use the down time to grocery shop and prepare my…

You didn't mention diet in your post. WL and cardio are great at adding muscle and health wise...but if you want a slimmer look, chances are it's your diet that needs to be monitored.
-
Yup...agree with others. It's normal to be delighted about losing weight but not happy with the skinny fat look. Loose skin and just an overall gaunt look. Changing from mostly aerobic exercises like walking/running to incorporate weight lifting helped immensely. Took me about 6 months in the gym to get the body I was more…

Yes I have rest days. 4 days on 1 day off in weight training. Cardio Sun thru Thursday, Fri/Sat off. Do I sit on the couch and eat bon bon..no..out hiking, swimming..doing fun stuff. I do think the body needs time to rest and grow but that doesn't mean mope around all day. And yes on days off, I generally restrict my diet…

I've been lifting hard for the last 3.5 years. Longest I've taken off is two days in a row. Like you, it sounds good on paper, but just seems well anticlimactic. I do know I feel stronger after my day off so it probably is a good thing.

Almost exactly 3 years ago, I was in a similar situation. Health problems galore. My Dr said if I didn't lose 40 lbs I'd wake up dead. I ignored him, instead I lost 60lbs...in 3 months..and all, I mean all of my health problems faded away. And last Aug, I won my first Body Building contest..at the age of 48. Trust me, if…

Get back below 7% BF.

What an incredible transformation! I'm sure you are a major inspiration to many people. And I'm also guessing the BF is thrilled with the results. Nicely done!
