  • Enjoy your birthday! One day over your calorie count is not going to cause weight gain long-term. Don't feel guilty and as someone else has said, a day off might help, for a variety of reasons.
  • Tell me about it! Added new friends from this thread :)
  • What about soda water/tonic with a dash of lime cordial? You get the fizz and a nice taste with far fewer calories. As for caffiene, green tea has a very small amount of caffiene. Black coffee and black tea are also very low-cal and have caffiene in them.
  • I'll add you :) we can all support each other.
  • That's the spirit! I'm the same about gyms, I turn up, see all the fit thin people, realise I have no idea how to use most of the machines and will look an idiot, and give up and go home. Thankfully I've never joined a really expensive gym... YouTube is good for home fitness, I quite like Fitness Blender.
  • Trying MFP yet again after several false starts last year...! My big weaknesses are alcohol and fast food. I've cut fast food completely for January, with the instruction I'm not allowed to order a pizza/go in a KFC before 1 February. (I don't eat McD's/Burger King anyway.) That's a big difference from twice a week! I hope…
  • Ooh, today I learned :) point stands, after pasteurisation became widespread deaths due to dairy-borne illnesses dropped. You might not get sick from raw dairy of course, but it's not recommended to drink/eat it. http://www.cdc.gov/foodsafety/rawmilk/raw-milk-questions-and-answers.html#hurt…
  • If you're substituting green tea for coffee with cream and sugar, or soda or whatever, then yes, it is. If you're drinking it to up your fluid intake because you hate water, then yes, it is. I do both these things and while I know that the green tea is not in and of itself doing the dirty work, it sure makes it easier.
  • I don't dare. We invented pasturisation for a reason!
  • A cup of black coffee only has a few calories (quick search shows 2) - definitely better than sugary chemical-filled energy drinks! Also agree with above, if you're going to drink it black then drink good coffee. If you felt better after drinking coffee specifically even though you don't like it, it's the caffiene you're…
  • There has been a lot of 'just break up with him' in this thread so I just wanted to highlight the above answer, which I think sums it up pretty well. If you are concerned about him being too skinny for his health, you can sit down with him and explain your concerns. Either he will take it on board, or he won't. However,…
  • Thanks for all the helpful replies - good to know I'm not the only one! I'll see about maybe taking a light, not strongly-flavoured snack to eat when at my desk.
  • Is there any way to measure body fat percentage at home, or do you have to go get dunked in a big water tank..? (In other words can I track it myself??)
  • Wow, I hadn't even spotted those! Thank you so much for the good answers. Out of curiosity, why is BMI not considered very useful? :) Sorry not an experienced dieter/fit person...
