@Slimpossible007 Thank you so much for this, I'll have a look through! I also do the cobra stretches a lot in the evening when we're relaxing or watching TV, and I do standing backbends every two hours at work during the day as instructed by the physical therapist I saw a few years ago. Another thing that has really been…

Newbie here! *wave* I've struggled with my weight pretty much my whole life, and I've had periods of being only slightly overweight but in decent physical shape, to being morbidly obese and sedentary. I have a pretty severe herniated disc from 2012 that flares up every once in a while and I've used that as an excuse to not…
-
Aw thanks! I've been putting in some time on the elliptical, which is low impact enough to not bother my back too much. Gotta just keep plugging along!
-
I hurt my back in 2005 (herniated disc). I'd been pretty athletic up until that point and when I could no longer be as active I gained 50 lbs from sitting around and eating as much as I always had. In 2009 I weighed 195 lbs at 5'3" and decided enough was enough, got active again and lost 50 lbs. Then in 2012 I was doing…
-
I'm in the same boat. I went from 195 to 143 in 2009 (only 13 lbs away from my initial goal weight), then crept back up to 150 and maintained that until 2012/2013 because I thought I was looking pretty good and I got lazy. My weight started creeping up in 2012 because I hurt my back and started sitting around on the couch…

Grilled ham and cheese sandwich with dill pickle sandwich slices and dijon mustard. Seriously to die for. I put the ham on the sandwich first, then one slice of cheese, pickles, then a second slice of cheese, then the second slice of bread. The cheese melts and kinda holds the pickles in place on the sandwich.

Alcohol. Hands down alcohol. I have no problems meeting my calorie goals and macros when I go for periods of time without drinking. But if I go out for one or two at happy hour or drink a glass of wine while cooking dinner it turns into me munching on anything I can get my hands on after that. And then the day after I'm a…

I had one of these revelations only in the opposite direction. My boyfriend makes gumbo that is to die for, and his "secret" is to fry the ingredients in Crisco before he dumps them into the pot and simmers everything. That coupled with the pure deliciousness meant I was guessing that it would be around 800 calories a…

No you're not the only one. My weight has been the central focus in my life since I was a teenager in ballet, and it is definitely my buffer and scapegoat. I sometimes think that the reason I always regain weight that I have lost is because if I don't have a weight problem, then I would actually have other issues to work…

There's a restaurant across the street from my office that does a salad with mixed greens and typical salad stuff like cucumbers, tomatoes, etc. But, the salad also has roasted beets and goat cheese. It is to die for! I love any kind of salad really, and I'll eat almost anything in it. At home a make a salad with mixed…

This sounds amazingly similar to the tuna salad my grandma always made (minus the bell peppers, and she used hard boiled egg in hers) and I've always loved it, so I need to give this a try. One question though: I noticed with my grandma's that even though she used mild onions, the entire container of tuna salad took on an…

I don't hate fruit exactly, but I rarely eat it because I always feel hungrier afterward. Weird. Anyway, like others have said, I don't think you necessarily need to force yourself to eat fruit just because you're "supposed" to, provided that your overall diet is balanced and you are getting the nutrients you need from…
-
Yes, yes I have been known to do that. It's my way of filling myself up at dinner while only allowing myself a microscopic portion of whatever yummy calorie-bomb my boyfriend has cooked. But actually, looking at my food diary I've noticed that I don't eat nearly as many vegetables as I should, so I figure a big…

Me! I have about 60 to lose, and I'm just starting for the second time around. SW: 180/CW: 176/GW: 120. Adding you!

I can't post pictures at work, but at our Halloween party last Saturday I was Freddie Mercury from the I Want To Break Free Video, and my boyfriend was Bea Arthur (we kinda had a gender bending dead celebrities theme going on).

I could get on board with those nice round numbers. I'm not so good with math haha. But I've also heard the metric system makes it easier to be precise. Centiliters, milliliters, etc instead of 1/20 of a cup and whatnot. I'm not anal but I do want to be accurate....
-
This has all made me want to become more savvy with the metric system and how it relates to imperial. I learned all that shizz in elementary school but have forgotten it since I never really used it.
-
Oh yay, that is fantastic!!!! Thanks! *edit: and thanks ksuh! I'm not much anal as unsure about how units of measurement correspond with each other, so I wasn't sure if the difference between the ml and grams was significant. Now I know.
-
Shoot, I'm using dinner plates for these salads.

I use Ken's Light Thousand Island, and I just remembered I have a bottle here at work too, so I ran to the fridge to check. It definitely says the serving size is 2 tbsp (30g) and does not have a mL measurement. I did find a conversion chart online that says 2 tablespoons is equivalent to 28.3 grams for dry measurements…
-
Good point. I could have sworn the bottle said "2 tbsp (30g)" for the serving size. I'm going to double check that when I get home and maybe whip out the measuring spoons as well.
