  • Vodka + club soda or diet sprite here. But man almighty.... I miss IPAs.
  • Easy. Are you losing weight? If yes: congratulations, you are eating at a deficit. If no: you need to drop your calories to create a deficit.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil. :)
  • We did green beans today in a foil packet: fresh green beans tossed in EVOO, a bit of sesame oil, sea salt and crushed red pepper. Nom nom nom.
  • Consider donating your nicer clothes to a women's charity that gives interview clothing to women looking for work. Locally, I take these types of items to Dress for Success. Might make you feel better to know your beloved, but far too big clothing is going to someone who will really appreciate it!
  • I gained the weight back because I took pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever I wanted in whatever quantity I wanted. I know EXACTLY what I did wrong and it has absolutely nothing to do with eating "dirty" and everything to do with eating too many calories. I'm down 32lbs from my post-pregnancy weight, and I am down 7lbs…
  • I lost 75lbs eating extremely dirty (fast food several times a week), smoking a pack a day, drinking nothing but coffee, Diet Mt. Dew, and sugar free Red Bull and doing little exercise beyond walking and hiking. Kept it off until I quit smoking (10lb gain) and got pregnant with mini-me (60lb gain). I'm here now to lose the…
  • I loathe running. Tried to take it up for years. Finally gave up and took up interval training instead (which I LOVE). Instead of running straight races, I do mud runs and other obstacle races which is way more fun.
  • Escape. I sometimes dread going but I'm always happy as soon as I get moving. I do group interval training only - I joined a gym that offers small group training every hour on the hour. This, combined with cardio on my own, is what I really enjoy doing.
  • Summer squash and zucchini! Also, if you're steaming your veggies - stop it! Yes, steamed vegetables are healthier, but they taste like... well... vegetables. Start roasting your veggies. Toss in a little olive oil and the seasoning of your choice (I use Italian Seasoning for summer squash and zucchini). Shred veggies to…
  • Sure thing, I hope it helps! Honestly I would still be doing rounds of Karna Camp if there was an instructor in my area. I do lift now but it is also part of an interval training program (just with more emphasis on lifting and less on cardio). Lifting heavy does seem to be the popular choice now (and it has it's benefits…
  • I have a food scale and I love it not just for measuring portions, but for cooking. Sometimes it is so much easier to measure something by weight than it is with a measuring cup (shredded cheese, chopped fruits and veggies, yogurt, sour cream, chopped meats, pasta and basically anything else that is awkward to get into a…
  • I lift now, but I previously lost 75lbs doing nothing but eating right and lots of cardio. If you want to find some weight training that doesn't completely bore you to tears, look for something that combines cardio and strength training. I loved Karna Camp (http://www.karnafitness.com/) but my trainer quit doing the…
  • Put that BBQ genius to work on healthy food! Once the weather gets nice here, almost all of our meals are grilled. We do lean meats (chicken, fish, turkey burgers, chicken sausage, occasionally filet) and veggies on the grill and it's always a treat. Stay away from BBQ sauce by looking for rubs: better flavor without all…
  • Listen to this advice. With the help of my then boyfriend, now husband, I lost 75lbs while we were dating and was the lowest weight of my adult life when we got married and a svelte size 8, down from the size 16 I was when we met. I met him at my heaviest weight ever and he was (and still is) completely out of my league…
