So, 6.2 miles on November 1st for me. Will report back in after my run today.

I've been doing a bit more than 10 miles per week, but I'm in. I did 6.2 miles on November 1st, and plan to do between 5.1 and 8 miles today. Note that the days I have off from work change from week to week, so that is why I am pushing my workouts on days I can.

I started getting back into running back in July after over 20 years, not to mention over 100 pounds of additional weight(I was super skinny back when I was 18). Since those days of jog 1 minute, walk 3 minutes, I am finally back to the point of jogging one 10K run(not race) per week, with a 13-16 mile per week average for…

Motivation can be tough, because you have not made a habit out of working out. I am currently on a 4 day per week schedule, with two long runs(4.5 miles or longer) per week, and two shorter runs at 3.1 miles each. I started by WALKING, because when I got started with my current REAL effort to lose weight, I weighed in at…

I'm in. I did a 6.2 mile run yesterday. Times so far are not great, 1 hour, 12 minutes, 22 seconds for it. Still working on losing weight, down 29 pounds since May 1st, and over 35 pounds since October of 2012 with another 35 pounds to go.

That is around 6 weeks worth for me, so simple enough. And that is with a goal of losing another 35 pounds, so I have a bit of weight I want to lose. I am running around 15 miles per week right now on average, was a bit short this past week(my week starts on Saturdays), and only did 13 miles. So, I will be doing a simple…

You need to be more specific about what products you are comparing. Polar just released their Polar Loop product to encourage people to be more active and such, but that is a very different product from the heart rate monitors that many use for exercise. Fitbit has a bunch of different products as well, so I'm not sure…

Realistically, you will generally get what you pay for, but you can often save money on the same product if you shop online. I picked up a Polar RS300X around a month ago for $90, and it does the job decently enough. Most heart rate monitor straps will cost $65-80 anyway, and the watch based "training computers" will be…

A heart rate monitor can really help you with your training. No, I don't work for a company that makes or sells heart rate monitors, but I've been using one for the past month or so. The trick is to see what your heart rate is while running normally, then notice how high your heart rate is when running uphill. By training…

I know this is an older thread, but I am sure I am not the only one who ran across this thread while doing a search. I started working on losing weight back at the beginning of May of this year(2013), and progressed from walking twice a day, 1.2 miles each to the point where I can now run 6.2 miles straight. Now, one thing…
