Hi guys!
I decided to set a running goal for myself to keep the pounds down this holiday season. I usually dont track mileage but more so calories when I run, so this may be a little too easy/hard for me. But I'm up for the challenge. I'm setting a goal to run 80 miles before the new year!
If anybody wants to join with me in this goal I'd love to have a support team and support others. This will be fun.
Also, you can change your mileage goal if you like!!

I am in! 80 miles in two months (roughly 60 days) .... 1.3 miles a day or 10 miles a week....
We can do this!0 -
I'm in! I have been trying to average about 20-25 miles a week (1 hour 5 days a week), so that should be a great goal!0
-
Great! I'm excited ladies! We should have a check in every week or something!0
-
Still can't run long distances (auto accident rehab) but will match your weekly miles on the elliptical. Deal? Where do you want everyone to track their miles?
5.62 completed this evening ...0 -
I'm in! As long as I can count today too ;-) I just finished 10k at a record for the year time. I wasn't even shooting for it, I just wanted to get out. MFP has been great at encouraging me to eat enough, so that I have the energy to get out and do stuff!
6.2/80 done ;-)0 -
That is around 6 weeks worth for me, so simple enough. And that is with a goal of losing another 35 pounds, so I have a bit of weight I want to lose. I am running around 15 miles per week right now on average, was a bit short this past week(my week starts on Saturdays), and only did 13 miles. So, I will be doing a simple 3.1 mile today, 6-8 on Monday, another 3 on Wednesday, and then another 6.2 on Friday as my plan for the next week. Work just gets in the way sometimes, so I do my long runs on the days I have off.0

4 miles today ... 9.62 for the month to date ... Let's keep it rolling folks!!0
-
I've done 23 miles in the past 4 days so I'm getting there.. resting today and tomorrow and will be back on the road on Tuesday0

@mamacoates elliptical works too! That's a good question, I've never done a group goal like this so I'm by sure where people usually track it, should we just keep track in here?0

i'm in like flynn!!!0

I would love to be included in this!! A little background on myself, I have been running a little over a year, finished three 5ks, one 5 mile race and two 1/2 marathons! I am currently working on gaining some speed, thanksgiving will be 1 year since my first 5k, so I am running it again and seeing just how much I can improve on my time!! It is also my birthday this year so I should be a lot if fun!! I am trying to keep a good base over the winter because I have dreams of my first FULL marathon next October!! Please add me on here!!! Nice talking to you all
6.2/80 as of November 3, 20130 -
I know I got a little behind but I've done 6.2 miles so far0

I'm in! Just getting started running so may not make 80 but I'll aim for it! Counting mileage since Thursday when you posted the challenge:
7.3/800 -

I am about as far from a "hater" as you can get. Now, I'll not continue to hijack your challenge thread. Best of luck to you and to everyone else that chooses to participate.
Cheers!0 -
I like this challenge. I'm building back up some endurance and my goal is 15 miles a week. I can definitely maintain that to the end of the year and then kick it up to 20 miles at the start of the new year!0
-
Is it 10 miles a week? Hmmm. Maybe I can pull this off. I'm in!0

Sounds like an awesome idea! I'm a novice runner and trying to work my way up to a 5K. It seems I start every month or so and just lose my motivation... I need accountability.
Have you thought about making a group and posting the link in this thread? We could all join, do check in posts and encourage one another.0 -

Nikki Dw has set up a group for us ... THANKS NIKKI. I have noticed that some folks have set up spreadsheets through Google Docs to keep track of various challenge info. I am not familiar with google docs. Nikki, are you? or is there someone who would like to help set up a spreadsheet for weekly tracking??0 -
"In like Flynn" is also correct and refers to actor Errol Flynn and the success he had in his social exploits and the way in which some things came so easy for him ... It is a slang term that refers to"having achieved a goal or gained access as desired".
You're welcome ... :happy:0 -

Yes, but Flint was the original and Flynn was a derivative of it. But, I have derailed this thread enough already.0 -
So, 6.2 miles on November 1st for me. Will report back in after my run today.0
-
I'm in. 3.1 miles Saturday night (with Zombies chasing me through the woods and a head lamp on my head) 2.5 miles yesterday.
The run Saturday night was "Panic in the Dark" an obstacle course run, in the dark, through the woods with obstacles and zombies chasing you. It was all fun and games until there was ZOMBIE CLOWNS!!! There is no call for Zombie Clowns.0
