  • Try to eat home cooked meals vs. frozen dinners, canned foods, or eating out. That way you know exactly what is in the food and can control the salt, sugar and other less healthy ingredients.

  • Read the labels, most peanut butter has a ton of sugar, but there are "all natural" brands that do not add any sugar. Those might be okay. Nuts are supposed to be good for diabetics.
  • cucumbers are my favorite low calorie food, raw or pickles, but pickles can have too much sodium or sugar in them.
