  • You need to take it slow.. You shouldn't push it too hard in the very early days of your training. It's not only about your feet/ankles not being used to take the pounding of running after some years, you also need to pay attention to your running form, stride and posture. These things you learn with time, trial and error.…
  • I use MyProtein's Native 95 Whey Protein.. Awesome stuff.. I buy the Vanilla (for the gym) and the unflavoured for smoothies at home. My signature breakfast shake (especially the day after a long run or a hard workout- or both lol) is: A banana A handful of blueberries A cup of raw rolled oats 2 tbsp of Chia Seeds Cold…
  • Get a light weight compression top, then put a normal running tshirt on top.. Get gloves too.. I wear sometimes even if it's not too cold as we lose a lot of our body heat in our hands
  • I've done 23 miles in the past 4 days so I'm getting there.. resting today and tomorrow and will be back on the road on Tuesday
  • Hey there I'm too a proud owner of Vibram Bikila and love running in them. I also run with Luna Sandals sometimes and completely barefoot if the weather allows. I saw the Lontra but I didn't try it yet. Instead, what I normally do is to get some heavy socks and I hope my feet won't get wet. I actually enjoy the whole…
  • These machines are rarely accurate. I also agree that you should do the one you enjoy the most! That works for me.. Enjoy your routines, eat well and you will achieve your goals- no doubt about it!
  • Summer = no top, sunglasses, tiny shorts and on my feet I'd wear sandals or Vibram Bikilas. A sleeveless top if the wind is too much Autumn = light compression (torso), t shirt on top, tights and Vibram Winter = well, just imagine a hockey player..
  • I run to Deep House, uplifting trance etc.. I've recently purchased Kids in Glass Houses' new album (Peace) and I've really enjoyed running to it most of its tracks- even though it is not house. For long distance running I really NEED deep house though.. Those types of sets that would build up for a long time and will help…
  • Most formal races would need you to have your number displayed at all times as far as my experience goes. By the way, are you talking about F or C degrees? Good luck with the race and have fun :) Cheers from London
  • I agree with all responses.. I am just like you sometimes.. I always need to push a little bit more but less (sometimes) is more when it comes to your early days of running. Take it easy and make it enjoyable- running is a learning journey and you should take one step at a time.. Learn about your running form, posture and…
  • HAVE FUN DON'T WORRY ABOUT YOUR TIME ENJOY! DO STRETCHES AFTERWARDS! :) Your dilemma regarding your outfit is something I ALWAYS struggle with so I am no good for such advices. :) Let us know how it goes Cheers B
  • I believe Adidas is about to release one watch that would do all you need.. It's expensive but if you've been a good person this year, Santa might bring you one! :) I use Mio Alpha as it measures HR without the annoying chest strap. It's pretty accurate and easy to use. I don't use pedometers or apps with GPS features; I…
  • When I started running I was doing a 5K in 32 minutes- this was some years ago. I found that it took me one year to cut it down to 25 minutes but then it got hard to shave any further minute- not sure why that was the case. It took me a LONG time to get my time to sub 20 minutes and my fastest one to day was 19m22secs.…
  • NEVER stretch before running.. In fact, I wouldn't stretch before any exercise. Stretching is effective post exercises when your body is warm. Stretching when your muscles aren't warmed up and ready to go would invite injuries and you don't need that! :)
  • I used to go for the Nike+ Not out of choice- it comes with the iPod Nano 7th Gen so I was using it. I hate carrying my phone on runs.. In fact, I hate carrying ANYTHING at all. Sometimes the occasional running water bottle. The reason why I said I USED to play with Nike+ is because I never opened the app anymore after my…
  • It's a matter of concentration in my opinion. That is why I dislike running with other people. Running, to me, is my intimate time and I hate when people come to talk to me.. I know it sounds a bit odd, but when anything disturbs my concentration I would tend to find myself out of pace, breathing badly, overstriding and…
  • I normally warm up with a pasta rolling pin. I roll it all over my legs to stimulate the blood flow and then I start with a very light jog for 5-15 minutes depending on the occasion. If it's for a RACE and I want to focus on my time, I would actually jog for 20 minutes and then get to the starting line so I'm ready to go…
