Marathon Question - Throw Away Clothes & Pin Numbers

So I am running a marathon today. Right now it is 30 degrees, and will not warm up until 11am. I have a throw away sweater I bought yesterday, but was curious... Do I need to pin my numbers on that, and move it to my bottom layer once I decide to throw it off? Or can it stay on the bottom race shirt for ease?

Most formal races would need you to have your number displayed at all times as far as my experience goes.
By the way, are you talking about F or C degrees?
Good luck with the race and have fun

You might invest in a bib belt, that way the bib isn't actually attached to your clothing.0

It may be too late for you, but I bought a bib belt for this exact reason. I recently ran my first half. I start out cold (even if I've warmed up) and don't get warm until about mile 5 or so. Then I take off my outer layer.
But I'm not sure why your number has to be showing at all time, although I've seen than too. I've been people pin their numbers to their thigh as well, and I suppose that's another option.0
