I was 21, he was 23 when we got married. I knew him for about 9 months and we dated for about 7. We never got formally engaged, we just started talking about what we would do "when we got married." Our 20th wedding anniversary will be in August. He's my best friend.

Quality time. DH's is acts of service.

Suggest he check out the podcasts on fat2fitradio.com. The 2 male hosts of the podcast advocate slow change and transitioning to living like the thinner, healthier person you want to become. The advice is practical and reasonal for men AND women.

Aside from the obvious... I measure around bust, smallest part of waist, across hip bones/navel, largest part of booty, each upper thigh, each calf, and each upper arm.

AWESOME!! Have never heard anyone differentiate between the two before! Thanks!! :drinker:

I also wear Nike sports undergarments. I found my usual cotton undies led to some uncomfortable chafing. For extra anti-chafe protection, I use Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel in those sensitive chafe-prone areas when I run...

1. Bullet blender - smoothies every morning for breakfast 2. Food scale - just bought this last week - amazed to find how inaccurate my guesses have been 3. Droid X smartphone - access to MFP anywhere I can get a cell signal, helps with food choices when I have to dine out, GPS apps to track my runs and walks 4. Cookbooks…

Honey, ignore that idiot. Some people are just douches. I'm 41, BTW. Check out my ticker. You just gotta keep making small decisions over and over and over again. Persistence will get you there!

I posted this on another thread about a month ago, something else to consider: "If you're "pounding the pavement" you're doing it wrong. I don't know about where you live, but where I live it's a bit cold to try this, but... Go outside in bare feet and run a short distance on the pavement in bare feet. Concentrate on…

Lunch is always leftovers from supper sometime earlier in the week. I cook a lot from "Appetite for Reduction" and "Quick Fix Vegan," which generally results in 4 or 6 servings of something. After DH and I eat, the rest goes in tupperware to be nuked for lunch the next day. Easy and requires little thought - both…

LOL!! :drinker:

^^^^ This. I've done this for years. It's so nice to just grab a leftover out of the fridge for lunch and head out to work. Plus, I'm never on my way home wondering WHAT ON EARTH I'm going to cook. Simplifies my life greatly!

You're welcome! When I started typing, no one had addressed your form, which seemed to me to be what you were asking. By the time I was done, someone had posted the link to the article by the author of "Born to Run" (name escapes me....). I just finished that book on CD and it calcified for me some of the thoughts I'd been…

If you're "pounding the pavement" you're doing it wrong. I don't know about where you live, but where I live it's a bit cold to try this, but... Go outside in bare feet and run a short distance on the pavement in bare feet. Concentrate on landing softly and gently. Pay attention to how your feet hit the ground. Then put…

Watch the chewy TLC bars - they have stealth whey. The crunchies are safe.

Great job!! Feels great, doesn't it?!

I love: A great meal ready in the slow cooker when I get home (OK, that is food-related, but it's more the feeling that the meal is ready with no additional effort on my part) The absolute joy my dog greets me with EVERY SINGLE TIME I come home AND her joy at going for a run, a drive, a swim, or after the ball or frisbee…

I do this one: http://bodyforlife.com/library/exercise/cardio The "levels" are your perceived exertion - from an easy stroll at level 1 to "I'm gonna puke" at 10. Enjoy!

DH and I are doing a 5k on T-giving in Toledo, Ohio. Probably followed by our annual tradition of breakfast at Waffle House, to undo all the good we just did.
-
Do it!! I did my 1st 5k in September in 38+ minutes - I wasn't the slowest one there. As a former fat chick, finishing that race was one of the proudest moments of my life. Go for it!

I'm 5'10" as well and currently 197# - the smallest I've been as an adult. I'm aiming for 165#, but since I've never been there, I may re-evaluate if I'm happy with my progress before then.

Try the cookbook "Appetite for Reduction." Fantastic low fat vegan food from real ingredients. Every recipe I've tried from this book has been delish. Personal fave so far? Kidney bean and butternut squash jamba. Yummmmmm. Or maybe the Veggie potpie stew. You know, the chipotle lentil burgers were fab and I haven't made…
