Hi Lori. Three years out - congrats! I would go back to basics while you are layed-up; lean protein and fluids. Avoid fats and carbs and track everything in MFP (if you are not doing so already). Set MFP to lose 1 pound per week with a "sedentary" setting. Stary under and you shoul ddrop that weight right off. Good luck.

I had one week liquids only and it sucked! That fact was irrelevant. The diet was necessary to prepare me for a very serious medical procedure so I complained and moaned but did it. That week was the worst, most challanging week of the entire program. From D-Day forward you add foods and experiment. Positive steps towards…

Asia - I would suggest working on eliminiating "free day" from your vocabulary. That thinking is a relic from pre-WLS days when we reacted to "diet" standards. We no longer "diet", we just eat what we need and thanks to the reduced capacity we have a tool to help us stop. From day one I focused on protein, tracked every…

Congrats! Great work - keep it going.

Start: 311, Now: 187.8, Surgery: 9/26/13. Before pics on profile. Maintain is 2,200 calories in MFP, FitBit calls for anywhere from 400-1,000 more depending on activity. I weigh everything and put every portion into MFP for accuracy. I can eat a comfortable 8-9oz of food in a very varied diet.

Feel free to add me, glad to help out.

We all gain and lose very differently. I gained like one of those sponge toys that expands in water in all directions. Fortunately I have lost the same way and by working with a trainer I have made positive gains. Can't emphasize enough how important my trainer has been. Yes - you can do it on your own, but considering how…

Had to look that word up - learn something new everyday!

Great work and great results! Enjoy the ride you are earning it.

Congrats on the Movie seats - I agree that this is a big, tangible, NSV! I also bring in a protein bar to snack on but avoid the drinks so I don't have to run out and pee. I can see where bringing in fruit or other obvious foods will draw attention but don't think a proten bar in the dark will draw attention. If challanged…

I second Mango's response; A FitBit is a great tool. I do not think I would be having the success I am having without it. Seeing the calorie burn and having confidence in the numbers keeps me motivated.

2 weeks, could have gone in 1 but I lifted something heavy and needed on of my "holes" to be reglued.

Ok male perspective hear = all well and good to repeat the "you can do this on your own girl, no support is needed" advice but there is obviously more going here. Marriage is a partnership (22 years in for me) and in a successful marriage the partners figure out how to do major things like this together. There are very few…

1) Walk immediately and continually. Keep increasing the effort. 2) Gym at 4 weeks using light weights for upper body. Nothing that affects the core (healing first). 3) Strength trainer at 3 months focusing on overall fitness - total body workouts; we need to strengthen everything. 4) Just started (8 months) changing…

First up; you lost 100 pounds in 4 months. You are doing great - proof is in the results. Allow yourself to to enjoy that success, you earned it and you deserve to celebrate it. No "buts", no "maybe" - this is not a fake celebration. 100 pounds in 4 months!! Now if you are seeing a trainer and a nutritionist regularly, and…

Great victory! Getting off medications alone will add years to your life.

We all had/have learned the wrong habits for the wrong reasons. Moving through the WLS stages gives us the opportunity to learn new habits and build on success.

75 is absolutely realistic from the first week on. www.theisopurecompany.com 20oz of fluid, 40 g clear protein. Various flavors, tastes like a Jolly Rancher. Sip on a bottle all day and get your fluid and protein in one shot. I used two bottles per day during the first month, then dropped to one per day as my food intake…

Wearing a FitBit Force since January - love it. The combination of the FitBit and MFP is an absolute winner. I set MFP to sedintary and capture all my burned calories through the FitBit. The websites are linked to each other and very easy to use. Frankly I do not think I would have had the results I have had without…

Much the same story as rpyle111; Just after surgery you have a very small, very swollen little pouch that needs time to heal. You also need to ingest 64oz of fluid and 100g of protein daily. Coffee simple does not factor into this. At about 3.5 months I introdced the occasional cup and now, at 8 months, I have regular…

Great progress! You are working hard and it shows.

The common thread is we are all different and the range of normal is very wide. As long as you are getting your daily protein and fluids and do not "graze" the VSG will get help you meet your goals. For me; 4-6 oz of protein per meal is comfortable when coupled with veggies to bring me up to around 8 oz total. My Dr. said…

** Always check with your Dr first as everyones situation is different** For me - walking immediately. In gym on treadmill at one-month, at two months light weights for everything except core. At 4 months started heavy training with a personal trainer. If you can afford it a PT is the best way to go as they will guide you…

First up you will not be totally immobile after knee surgery. In fact you should start rehab almost immediately. If you have VSG in June and do the knee late summer/early fall you will be in great shape. Losing the weight will take the pressure off the knee which will help when you start the rehab.

Great NSV's ladies! I would venture that the internal happiness is shining through making you look and feel even better. It's a great "upwards cycle" to be in. Keep up the great work!!

@Bikermike; once you get the hang of it and start weighing/measuring it gets real easy but the "full" feeling really is different for everyone. At some point early on you will get the "overfull" feeling and maybe the "hicc-a-burps" or like in my case, project that last piece of bananna out at sixty MPH. At that point the…

Early on, until the wounds heal, you are going to want to sleep on your back with a slight elevation. After that you will be able to sleep anyway your are comfortable. Side note: with the weight loss comes the touching on the knees and ankles when you lay on your side. Feels weird.

Track all your food intake in MFP (even the snacks) and get a FitBot to track your calorie burn. Link the two together and you will actually SEE the calories in and out. This will help you keep on program.

Thi sstuff was my lifeblood for about 4 months. I will grab some for the summer cooler as well. 20oz of fluid with 40g protein. Nice way to hydrate and get good proteins.

Itnteresting thread - I would wonder how much the changes are related to how we project ourselves. For me; I am finding that men who I have known or worked with for years are seeking me out for advice and that women (mostly my age + or - 10 years) are simply not shy to tell me how "wonderful" and "fantastic" I look in very…
