  • Just add the pics to your profile and friends can see.
  • Great job! Funny, I too have noticed that deats are a bit harder.
  • You don't indicate how close to goal you are, but that said 81 lbs since 10/13 is really great. As long as your MFP numbers are correct (weighing food, accurate exercise burn) and you are getting enough protein and water you will continue to progress. I use a food scale for everything (except dinner out) and wear a FitBit…
  • Congratulations and continued success.
  • Well done and congratulations! You look fantastic - keep it going.

  • MFP for tracking food and caloric intake. Get a FitBit to track caloric burn and link them together. Amazing tools!
  • http://www.theisopurecompany.com/en/drinks/ These were my lifeline. Used to drink two bottles a day when transitioning from full liquid through all food stages. Kept my protein very high and accounted for 40oz of fluid. Got a two-fer effect!
  • @gagesmom314. There is nothing wrong with being a picky eater after VSG as long as you follow the nutritional flow chart; 1) Protein 2) Veggie/Fruit 3) Carb Many people identify as a "picky eater" because they don't like foods that "Dieters" claim are good for you? If you like meat of any kind you will do very well after a…
  • 7 months out; Can you eat lettuce? - YES A full salad with tomatoes, cucumbers etc? - YES Are you eating raw veggies? - YES Fruit? With skins? - YES That said - you must CHEW EVERYTHING very well. The VSG reduces capacity so bulky items don't fit well and can cause an unpleasant feeling. Envision an 8 oz coffee cup. Can…
  • Started 2,500 one month before surgery and have continued that dose since. No hair issues at all (7 months out) and if i do not clip them I can use nails to climb trees!
  • Congratulations on making the choice. Similar family pathology with me; father died at 46 of heart attack, grandfather at 58. Learn the program and make sure you resume exercise as soon as physically possible post-op.
  • What you tell others is a personal choice, do what you are comfortable with.......but, I chose to be honest and up front; "I finally found a tool to help me get healthy. I had a weight loss surgery to reduce the capacity of my stomach and now I eat a high protein diet and exercise every day. I feel better than I have in 20…
  • Bottom line: Do your research and choose the option that seems best for you. All three are better than doing nothing and dieing of an obesity related disease. Go to a support group, ask questions and make an informed decision.
  • 1) what did you give up and you still do not touch? Do you have any foods or places that your strict about? - I really haven't given up anything except fast food of any type. Pasta/Rick and breads are in very small quantities as they are not part of my primary nutritional needs and take up too much valuable space. 2) do…
  • Great advice above. Slow and steady, keep hydrated and meet your protein goals first. Even though you are not feeling hungry you must keep a steady intake of nutrition. Waiting untl you might feel hungry might be your body telling you blood sugar is low. Pawoodhull is right on the mark; "an empty sleeve is an unhappy…
  • I love to cook and have found that tasting while cooking, as is normal, satisifed any cravings for that food. Tasting one Ziti to make sure it's cooked is not going to hurt you. Neither is a spoonful of sauce. Considering you are only one week out I would avoid any tasting until you progress through the reccomended diet…
  • If you are following the program and learning new habits then "slow and steady" will ultimately be "successful and permanent". It takes a while for the mind to catch up.
  • Adding high protein snacks to regular food has helped my inch my calories back up to aroung 2000 a day. While that seems high my metabolic baseline (at sedentary) is 1790 to lose 1 pund per week. Adding in exercise (FitBit) requires I eat back some of the calories. I am 7 months out and at 197 pounds am less than 10 pounds…
  • You are going to need good, solid, protein in the months after surgery. Animal meats provide more protein per ounce than plant. Choosing vegan at this time for any reason other than an ethical objection might not be the best decision. Apply the KISS principle and keep it simple to set yourself up for success.
  • VSG is relatively new so the long term data is not complete. The old paradigm was "VSG" as a first step to "RNY". As more people with VSG lose greater amounts of weight the mdical community catch up. I was 311 pre-op with a chart weight of 188. 7 months out and I am at 197 or 92% of goal. Just follow the program and you…
  • I had a sleeve on 9/26/16 and have lost 113 pounds with 10 to go. The sleeve is the newest of the three so the long term data is not as strong as RNY. I researched all three and felt (for me) the sleeve was preferable to the band for the following reasons; 1) No port, fills or maintenance. Fills are not covered by…
  • Outstanding!!! What a great feeling. Had a cool NSV Monday night. Attended a support group meeting for the first time in 3 months. Walked in a bit late and slide into a seat completely unrecognized. When I contributed to the discussion a whole bunch of strange looks and side conversations popped up until the Nurses and…
  • Living in paradise!! Only 7 months out but 113 down with 10 to go. I have found that keeping a regular log with MFP and using a FitBit has really made it easy (and very visual) to keep an accurate track of intake and burn. Feel free to friend me and best of luck on the stretch run.
  • Wait until you eat that "one more bite" and it shoots back out!! Lots of little lessons to learn, almost all will be unique to you. Others will have similar experiences but each person gets thier own little learning curve. Best advice; eat slow and chew thoroughly.
  • I am 7 months out and 10 pounds from my goal weight. I set MFP to a 1 pound weekly weight loss about 2 weeks ago (down from 2 pounds) and use a FitBit to track calorie burn. My daily MFP goal is now 1,700 Calories and FitBit calls for another 400-1,000 daily. As long as the burn is more than the intake I will continue to…
  • First up; I'm a guy, been married 22 years, love meat and was an absolute carbaholic pre surgery. So I think I may be able to offer some insight. Do not try to change him because you made a wonderful change for yourself (great picture BTW). Regardless of how well you are doing if he feels you are putting him on a diet he…
  • Mbdb: For some people managing eating will be a problem until they identify and address any emotional/psycological triggers. That's why we have to have a mental health evealuation prior to surgery and attend support groups. The sleeve simply reduces stomach capacity. If a person is intent of stuffing themselves at all…
  • I work full time with a two hour communte, have three teenage children, volunteer coach Varsity Lacrosse and youth lacrosse and travel with two children on Lacrosse Travel teams so I understand time constraints. There are days that I heavily use protein bars so I can avoid any "fast food - time constraint triggers". Don't…
  • All that matters are your results and your long term health. Look them in the eye and tell them you finally learned what it would take to make yourself healthy and are working real hard to keep it that way. Say it with confidence and pride. The naysayers are looking for power and control, just like a bully. They percieved…
