  • I make one meal. There's enough of it for everyone else to have the portion sizes they prefer, while I eat what fits into my plans for the day. No special cooking done in this house!
  • Colts & Packers
  • I'm a medic! Feel free to add me as a friend!
  • I know it's not rice, but I feel the exact same way about tilapia!
  • This. Still a ways to go to get to the ultimate goal of replacing the bands with a 24kg kettle bell, but it's a long way from where I started. Today was the first time I tried to do a pistol with the bands for assistance. Prior to this I had been doing them with a box behind me, lowering it more and more as it was getting…
  • I want arms and shoulders like that! You look fabulous!!
  • A pistol is a single leg squat. Here's a really short video of what one looks like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3zbtsZ1zbw
  • Great workout today! Worked on deadlifts, and managed reps at 235. Also made some progress on my pistols! I have been doing them (the pistols) with a step on risers behind me to "sit" onto, and have managed to get to the point where I am using 4 risers underneath the step. Today, I was able to do so fairly easily. The…
  • That's awesome! WTG!!
  • If I am craving something, I go ahead and eat a small amount of it, even if it is only one or two bites. I have found it is easier to do that, than to try and outlast the craving. For me, not eating a little bit of what I am craving is a recipe for disaster because it will eventually get to the point where I just give in…
  • Decided to go for a run today, and ran 5k for the second time ever. I also did it 1:30 faster than I did it the first time! (~38 min the first time, and ~36:30 today)
  • I have been working on pistols for what seems like forever. I still can't do an unassisted one, but I'm getting closer. I use a step with 5 risers underneath it, and "sit" onto that, and then stand back up. I have been able to do it easily for a few weeks now, but just couldn't quite pull it off if I removed one of the…
  • My trainer has been well worth every penny I have given him! I need the accountability I get from meeting with him twice a week. I've learned so much from him, and now have goals I am working towards that I never imagined I would have set for myself. I know for a fact, from past experience, that I would have given up a…
  • Heavy kettle bell swings (both one and two handed), Turkish getups, and some TRX assisted pistols.
  • If I know I am going to one, I just try to eat sensible for the rest of my meals, log things the best I can, and try to make good choices when filling my plate. I also just assume it is a day that I am most likely going to go over on my calories for the day, and just move on.
  • I also work in emergency services, but am fortunate that because I am employed by the fire department (civilian paramedic) I am able to work out on duty. I know that isn't really an option as a cop though. I can't really offer any advice, just wanted to say hi to a fellow first responder!
  • When I got to work this morning, there was half a chocolate cake in the kitchen left over from the off-going shift. I have managed to resist the temptation, and not eat any of it - yet. If I can just make it another few hours, I'll be heading to bed and won't be tempted by it while sleeping.
  • Thanks to PMS, I have been craving sweet stuff like mad today. While I did go over my calorie goal today in order to accommodate the craving, I didn't completely binge, like I have in the past. I was able to eat a reasonable amount of food to stop the craving, and then stop, instead of eating more and more simply because…
  • I've become really strong.
  • Fantastic job! Keep up the great work!
  • 5k run this morning and kettle bell class this evening.
  • Like already mentioned, find something you love to do. Once you do that, it won't seem like such a chore. I have tried on more than one occasion to lose the weight, and ended up failing miserably because I hated everything that I was doing to try to reach that goal. I have no doubt that part of why I have been successful…
  • Just finished up the Zombies, Run! 5k training a little bit ago by running my first 5k. I was hoping to complete it in 40-45 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized I completed it in 38:08! It may not be fast, but it is faster than I thought I was going to be able to run it!
  • An electric blanket.....or a nice warm beach!
  • Thanks so much everyone! I am wanting to know what my max is, and know I will get there eventually. For right now though, just gradually increasing things to continue to make improvements to my form and get my body used to lifting heavier and heavier as time goes on.
  • New deadlift PR today of 240! I've only added them in along with my kettle bell routine about 2 months ago.
  • Yesterday was my first day back at a job I was laid off from just over 2 years ago. Almost everyone had to do a double take when they first saw me, to make sure it really was me!
  • While avoiding fatty/greasy foods will help, I found that having it removed was really the only way to avoid having attacks. I know everyone is different, but for me, I couldn't eat any of those types of foods without having severe pain prior to having the surgery. Simply eating one slice of greasy pizza or an ice cream…
  • I haven't been able to wear my ring for a year. It is now to the point where it simply falls off my finger if I put my hand down at my side. I really want to get it resized, but still want to lose another 30-35 pounds, so it's going to have to continue to wait because I refuse to do it more than once. On the positive, my…
  • I would log it as water, but that's just me. I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't.
