Tactical Strength Challenge - totally AWESOME NSV!!!
I competed in the Tactical Strength Challenge today and had a blast! It is something that Strongfirst does in the spring, and again in the fall. There are Elite, Open, and Novice divisions for men and women. It consists of 3 events - a flex arm hang for novice women or max dead-hang, no kipping, pull-ups for everyone else;…

New DL PR - 280 lb!
It isn't pretty, but I was able to lock out! I knew I was a little wobbly at the end, but it looks worse than it felt. Regardless, I'll take it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUiBZwwXWr4

Two PRs in one day!
There was this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UnTP6SD43k And, even though I wasn't able to get video of my second PR today, I was able to press a 24 kg (53 lb) kettle bell for the first time ever!! (I am totally more pumped about this than the DL, although I am pretty happy about it as well.)

15 months and 85 pounds (LONG with lots of pics)
So, I'm not completely at my goal weight yet, but thought I would go ahead and share anyway. When I met my husband, I was 160 pounds and wore a size 13/14. I went out dancing all the time, and rode horses almost daily. As we dated, I became less and less active, just not making time for the horses, and since he can't…

Pistol squats - NSV
I have been working on pistols for several months, and can finally do one! It isn't pretty, and I still have lots of work to do, but this is a huge step. The ultimate goal is to be able to do one with a 24 kg kettle bell, which still seems like a really long ways off from the 12 kg bell I am currently using.…

It's not always about the scale
I've been on this weight loss journey for almost 15 months now. In some ways, it's hard to believe it's been that long, and in other ways, it just doesn't seem possible. From Halloween of 2013 to mid-May of 2014 I lost just over 70 pounds. Amazing! There were days I never thought I could do it, but managed to stay the…

FABULOUS day at the gym today!
I just love it when I have a great workout! I met with my trainer earlier today, and while working on deadlifts, I had another PR. I am really enjoying these! I pulled 235! Yes!! Who's awesome? That's right! Along with the PR, one of the older gentlemen that was there today commented on what I was doing, saying he wouldn't…

New PR - TGUs
I LOVE to do TGUs, and got a PR yesterday. I was able to do one on each side with a 24 kg (53 lb) kettle bell. Both sides were a bit wobbly at the end, and there are some little things I want to tweak on my form, but I'll take it! Especially, after a PR within the same week with my strict press (20 kg/44 lb) that I didn't…

Deadlifts NSV
I have been using kettle bells for just over a year, and have lost 82 pounds with them. I still love them, but I am wanting to try some other lifting as well, so today, while working out with my trainer, I tried to do deadlifts for the first time. (Well, technically, I have done deadlifts before with the kettle bells, but…

80 pounds lost! (with pics)
I have been on this journey for a year. Initially, I had phenomenal success, dropping pounds like it was nothing. I hit a plateau back in June of this year, and have been struggling ever since. In the last couple days, I have had some things happen that have helped to renew my determination to get serious again about…

I'm loosing my son!!!
Today, my 11 year old got on the scale at my request - I was just curious what he weighed these days. After finding out how much he currently weighs, I realized once I reach my goal, I will have lost the same amount of weight he is currently at. It's just mind boggling to me to look at him and realize I have been carrying…

Loosing my motivation
I decided to make a lifestyle change a year ago. I started making healthier food choices, counting calories, working out with a trainer, and exercising on my own between training sessions. From Halloween of last year to June of this year I lost 75 pounds and ~12 % body fat. Then, I hit a plateau. I gained and lost the same…

I did it!!!
I am finally under 200 pounds for the first time in over 11 years! My son is almost 11, and it was pre-pregnancy before I was in the 100's, even if I was barely there. Not only did I go under 200 today, I also hit 75 pounds lost since the week before Halloween last year. Only 38 more pounds to go to reach my goal weight!

65 pounds lost in 6 months!!
it was time for measurements with the trainer again a couple days ago. I am sure it will be several days before I get the total number of inches lost, but I do know every single measurement decreased. In the last two months, I lost ~2% body fat, for a total of ~9% lost since beginning 6 months ago. I also lost 11 pounds,…
