You do realize everyone loses at different rates. I've been at this for just over a year and a half, and have only lost 15 pounds since July of last year. Part of that is because I have chosen to take a break here or there, and part of it was because I wasn't being honest about what/how much I was eating. Prior to that 15…

I typically save around 150 calories for a snack around that time. I've found if I go for Greek yogurt, it tends to help with the craving of sweets, and it has a decent amount of protein to help me stay feeling full.

Who is awesome? That would be this girl!!!!! Today was only my second session working on bench press with the trainer, and guess what I was able to do? Go ahead, guess!! Remember, this was only the second time I've ever done this. I pressed 105 lb!!!! That's right! 1-0-5!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!

Congrats on the amazing work you've done! I started out wearing a 26, and just recently was able to buy some 12's. I am still wearing some 14's as well, but that's ok. I have another 20-25 I am wanting to lose, and am curious to see what size I end up when it's all said and done.

Thanks ladies! That guy in the background was one of the other people who were competing in the Tactical Strength Challenge we were doing that day. I do see him around the gym every once in a while, and he is super nice! We typically work out at different times of the day though, so it isn't very often that I run into him.

I tested my pistol today. Before, I could do it with a 12 kg (26.4 lb) kettle bell. Today I tried it with a 16 kg (35.2 lb) kettle bell. I wasn't able to get my leg quite to parallel on the right side, but I was SOOOOO close. I really wanted to count it, but know that it just wasn't quite there. However, I did get it on…

Awesome! What did you do to progress to that point? I just got my first chin-up earlier this week!

Group classes would definitely be a cheaper way to go, and you can still get the instruction that would give you proper form that way! Even with this option, look for someone who is either RKC or SFG certified. My one piece of advice for classes is to make sure the class size isn't too large. If there is greater than a…

Today, while I was doing my workout at the gym, one of the trainers pointed me out to his client, while they were going over hip hinges and squats, saying that I have "fabulous" form. After I thanked him for the compliment, he smiled and told me that he thinks it is even better than my trainer's form (who has incredible…

I have been using kettle bells for a year and a half and LOVE them! The best advice I can give you is to find an instructor in your area so you can learn good form. Look for someone who is either SGF (Strongfirst) or RKC certified. There are some good instructional videos out there, but there are countless more that are…

I think I may have posted pics earlier in this thread, but here's the latest update of where I am at, as of April 11. Along with the accomplishments in the video, all of which were personal bests, I also hit the 90 pounds lost mark! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa22LaddtfI And just for a reference point, here's where I…

This! I was finally able to do a body weight chin-up! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqasoTVskoU

OK, so this is totally a scale victory, but I have officially lost 90 pounds!!!! And, for a NSV, yesterday I was given a t-shirt as part of a weight lifting thing I did. When I signed up, I assumed the t-shirts were all men's sizes since it didn't give an option of men/women shirts. While it did ask for your gender on the…

Totally NOT pathetic! We all started somewhere, and a smaller size is still a smaller size! Congrats!

Bought 3 pairs of jeans today - all of them were a size 12! I don't think I have been that size since either college or high school!
-
Today I had to run to the store and pick up a pair of jeans because all of mine were too big, and I didn't want to spend the entire day pulling my pants up. I grabbed a pair a size smaller, tried them on, and they seemed to be ok, so I headed home with 2 pairs of them. I get home, pull them on, and my husband comments that…

I only weigh on the days I meet with my trainer, so typically twice a week. We do measurements every other month.

After missing a 250 lb deadlift three days ago, and having been successful at it before, I made up for it today. My previous PR was 275 lb, and today I pulled 280 lb!

While I can't really offer any input regarding surgery, since I haven't had it or looked into it (yet), the other thing you need to keep in mind is that is may take your skin a while to catch up to the rest of your body. I have read that it can take up to 2 years for your skin to completely recover after weight loss. I…

double post...sorry!

Don't be afraid to go heavier with kettle bells. I guarantee you can swing more than you think! I started out swinging (and everything else, too) with a 12 kg as well, and now can do 2 hand swings with a 32 kg bell, and 1 hand swings with a 20 kg bell! My one rep max for Turkish get ups is with a 28 kg bell, and I can now…

You are beautiful, and that dress is fabulous! Congrats on the weight loss - you've done great! You aren't the only one who struggles with those types of emotions. I think it happens to anyone who has lost a substantial amount of weight. I know I've been there before. Heck, there are some days I still feel like that.…

This is after 88.5 pound lost. Picture on the left is July 2013, and 272.5 pounds. Picture on the right is last week, and 184 pounds.

I started my weight loss journey Halloween 2013. To date, my body fat % has dropped from 46.5% to 32.99% and I have lost a total of 58.75 inches. I have dropped 6 dress sizes. I am 24 pounds away from my goal weight!

I was working on bent arm hangs today. Until this morning, the longest I have been able to hang from the bar was 33 seconds. Today, I did it for 40 seconds! I recently read somewhere that if you can hang from the bar for 30-45 seconds, that you can most likely complete one chin-up. I guess I need to give that a try!

I don't eat them on a regular basis, but every once in a while they are ok. For the amount of calories in most of them, they really aren't much different than eating a candy bar. However, the protein and other stuff (depending upon the brand) that are in them, make them a marginally better choice than a candy bar, in my…

Tested my kettle bell snatches for the upcoming Tactical Strength Challenge on April 11. I have a goal of 150 snatches with a 12 kg kettle bell in 5 minutes. Today, without really pushing myself, I was able to do 142. I don't think 150 will be hard to do in a couple weeks, and am now thinking I may even be able to do a few…
