  • Boneless salmon fillet tonight with steamed broccoli & cauliflower. A very strictly controlled 25g of blue cheese and 3 water crackers for dessert.
  • I don't find it hard to eat heathily with my boyfriend. He's pretty fit, does archery and diving as his hobbies. He does have a big appetite though so I find myself cooking extra to make sure he has enough and then I end up putting more than I need on my own plate too. It's sharing a bottle of wine that's the problem. It…
  • In that case I have hopes that my "cheat Sunday" will just be a blip. I did so well last week and managed to lose 2lbs. Then had wine, pies and a cream tea on Sunday and put double back on! Fingers crossed the scales will show a slide by the end of the week!
  • Hi Pacbella, I'm in London in the UK and the weather has been so sticky and humid! I love dry heat, the kind you get on holiday, but it has been unbearable the last few days. And so hard to sleep! The only good thing I find about the heat is that it makes me drink more water and then I eat a little less! But I still don't…
  • Hi tclanton84, it is frustrating when the doctors say "light exercise" but don't really quantify it. My physiotherapist recommended swimming, and to do front crawl rather than breastroke as it exercises and strengthens the quads without putting weight on it. And also using a stationery bike in the gym. That's easier than…
  • I agree, having spent four sessions in the gym this week, the MFP rates are too high. Today I manually changed the figures to be what my bike & cross-trainer said I'd burned as that was at least working on effort level, weight, age etc so I think it's more accurate.
  • Thanks for the tip I'll check out the Eat To Live, though 26lbs in 6 weeks sounds a bit fast to be honest, I wonder if there are any health ramifications losing that much so quickly.
  • I used to dance on a weekly basis, Modern Jive, and always logged it. It's amazing how many calories you can burn in 2 hours of bopping to music!
  • Yes I know that feeling when you see the treat table laden and everyone scoffing happily. The temptation to join in and not be the one "on a diet" is so strong. If there's a selection and I simply can't resist, I'll MFP the choices and choose the lowest calorie then nibble it slowly. That way no-one can press me to have…
  • You look fantastic, well done.
  • Once I've broken the habit of eating chocolate (usually a Kit-Kat or Maltersers) every day I can actually go for days without needing it. My last chocolate was a slice of chocolate cake, celebrating the boyfriend's 50th birthday last Friday.
  • Oh dear, everyone is so healthy with all the chicken listed! My three are: Blueberries Strawberries and ooops.... red wine!
  • From one fellow boozer to another..... amazing post, thank you so much. I've been limiting myself to a single Gin & Tonic as I wasn't sure what else would be relatively calorie-light. Love these options.
  • Hello there, I'm currently living in London but originally from Cornwall. Just starting another MyFitnessPal journey, very happy to chat and share encouragement.
  • It is harder after 40, you're quite right! I'm 42, have yo-yo'ed in weight for years and finally want to get it off and keep it off. And it's so tough! Half the battle is the mindset though to want to do it, and you're there, so get those trainers on, go for a power-walk and remember you're not alone. Good luck!
  • Hi there, I can understand your predicament. Before I started calorie counting it was usual for me to have a gin and tonic in the evenings when I got in, followed by a glass of wine (or two!) with dinner. I didn't want to give either up so had to make some choices. I've swapped the regular G&T for a single measure gin with…
  • Hiya, the healthiest options are those curries which are tomato based or dry. So Tandoori chicken or a Jalfrezi would be OK. For a starters go for Chicken Satay but miss out the peanut dip. Don't eat the Naan bread and definitely not Poppadums! If you can, get a copy of the menu before the night, check online for it, and…
