treats at work

Who else has to resist the breakroom at work? I'm disciplined at home, and usually when I go out to eat as well. But, middle of the afternoon, almost every afternoon, I find myself wandering into the breakroom at work. We have fun-sized candy bars, cookies, crackers...it's all small portions but then I find myself, 200 calories later, adjusting my meal plan for the rest fo the day. I can usually still make my calorie goal, but obviously these aren't 200 "good" calories.
I'm all for some comfort food every once in a while. I love ice cream, and sometimes a glass of red wine makes the world a happier place for me. But I know that wandering into the break room isn't really helping my long term goals.
I know how to deal with it. Just avoid the breakroom altogether, bring my own snacks, think about my goals when I'm tempted to cheat.
I just wonder who else is like me? Surely I'm not the only one! Let's commiserate!

Oh, I know the feeling of those evil vending machines. You're definitely not alone. I just joined here and just started healthy eating today, but for the past two weeks I have forced myself to not carry cash and if I do it's nothing lower than a 10 so I can't use money at the vending machine. I ended up at Sam's Club yesterday and just bought a bunch of snacks that you can find in the vending machine but smaller portions (calorie counting), instead of taking the box to work, I packed a bag with limited amount for the work day. I'm not huge on water so took some bottles of water and Crystal Light. It helps, it keeps you eating but you have your calories counted for.0

haha...my co-workers LOVE to eat and many of them also love to bake! YIKES! but I have done well, since joining MFP...I am getting very good at eating healthy, having breakfast at home, then bringing "good" snacks to stave off the hungries.
Today, I went downstairs to use the ladie's room and there they were....sitting on the table, looking and smelling delicious...FAIR DONUTS! OH MY! Someone brought these in as a fundraiser for a good cause and was selling them to make money, and I am a philanthropist at heart, so it was very difficult not to contribute (not to mention my sweet tooth was giving me fits), but I managed to stare those donuts down as well as the beautiful, buttery, lemon pound cake that was sitting next to them.
Neither of these treats could sway me (although I will admit to picking up the donut bag and sniffing that wonderful aroma of fresh sugar donuts, before setting it back down and rolling the top of the bag so they would stay fresh for the next person that wandered in.....sigh....)
I WON!! AND I AM PROUD!! YAY ME!0 -
We have donut holes every Friday for our clients. Let's see how I do with this!0

Yes I know that feeling when you see the treat table laden and everyone scoffing happily. The temptation to join in and not be the one "on a diet" is so strong.
If there's a selection and I simply can't resist, I'll MFP the choices and choose the lowest calorie then nibble it slowly. That way no-one can press me to have another.0 -
My co-workers bring food in everyday; most of it junk, some of it fresh veggies from their gardens. Today is a great example of why I avoid the snack area:
* "We will miss you, Javonna." cake
* Assorted doughnuts
* Some kind of caramel apple icecream pie or cake
* Cream cheese brownies
All this week it's been sweets, pizza (damn I want pizza), pasta, Jimmy Johns - cookies, chips, pickles
There are a few health conscious people in my department - like the drop-dead gorgeous claims adjuster I drool over everyday. His office just so happens to be right next to the snacks. Probably another reason why I don't go over there LOL.0 -

Ohhh let's see..........today in our "bunker" as we call it......... there were two dozen lemon cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and raspberry filling, ........ two loaves of homemade zucchini bread............ salt water taffy from Lord only knows where........... donuts some patient thought they were nice enough to bring....... a box of Sees chocolates, and some other stuff i didn't see. There's roaches in all of it. Seriously. Don't eat it................... seriously, i survived the day without having any of it. There will be more opportunities in my life to have that stuff in moderation when i'm not trying to lose weight.0
