I do that all the time. I see something that looks really good and delicious and then I look at the nutrition label and put it right back down. I'd rather have some nutrient filled food instead of all the empty calories.

Some of these posts claiming skipping meals will lower metabolism are just irritating. Good thing people in here can step in and correct the misinformation. Your lean body mass determines your metabolism first and foremost and the only way to raise it is by your level of activity and not with what you eat and don't eat or…

So I dropped about 1 minute off my previous time, putting me in at just under 10 mins per mile average (9min 54 sec). I thought I'd share because it feels like a mini victory. Only thing done differently is focusing on my form. I was running with my torso leaned forward a bit and it caused my lower back to get fatigued…

I have set mini-goals. Right now is set to a minus 30 min time in one month's time. When I said long term, I meant as long as it takes me. Hopefully, it takes me as short as it took you. I'm OK with it taking a couple of years. I'm in no rush, but the mini-goals I set for myself will help me stay on track for the bigger…

I didn't know people did this. It makes sense though. I think I will try it in the coming months after getting properly conditioned to run on a normal basis.

I'm not on a keto diet, but I am glycogen depleted at the end of my fast. At least that is the readings I'm getting from my test strips. So you are saying that running on ketones would be beneficial for longer steady runs and running for speed would be ideal on glycogen stores? It's just that I don't want to eat at night…

BTW, I'm doing these runs in a fasted state (20+ hrs). I have been doing intermittent fasting for almost 2 months now. I don't know if running on full reserves of glycogen will benefit me, but I'm hesitant to try it because I don't want to hit a wall and not finish strong. Any body else running while on ketosis mode? I've…

Running is my substitute for my regular HIIT session. Sometimes, I'm short on time and HIIT helps me burn as many calories as possible in the shortest amount of time. When I have plenty of time, I'll run or walk instead. It just depends on how my body feels. I've caught myself overdoing it and just simply rest for 2 days…

Wow. Sounds like the people up north may be more competitive than the North Texas people in the south. You know everything is bigger in Texas and that includes its residents. lol.

@AllanMisner - I usually like to prove people wrong. ;-) Looks like I have a lot of learning ahead of me which is OK. Anyone have any tips or links on proper running form? I don't want to cause any unnecessary injuries.

I was obese according to every calculator on the web. I'm 29 years old, 6'1" and my starting weight was 230 lbs with +30% body fat. I knew I was not going to be able to do the things I was able to do back in high school. So this is what I have done over the past couple of months: I started on an elliptical machine once a…

There is a ton of info on intermittent fasting. check out leangains.com just to get you started. I have been doing it for about a month now. It came easy to me. I started with fasting for 23 hours and eating all my calories in a 1 hour window. I have progressed to doing 36 hr fasts regularly. I keep track of my weekly…

I started intermittent fasting, so that means that I will use the holidays as a cheat day. I just have to move my eating window from the AM to the PM hours. It will be easy as cake!

I'm a little on the opposite side. I was only wearing 2 pairs of jeans that fit me. My shirts are were looking tight on me. I figured that if I went through a full blown wardrobe update to a size 40, that it would be like giving up and just completely letting go. Now that I'm dropping the weight, I can start wearing my old…
